Where They Are - 2

So, he went back to where the girls were and stood in front of them with his hands propped on his waist.

"What are your names? And how am I going to differentiate you both now?" he asked as he raked his silver hair and bob cut with his fingers. The strands of hair that fell to his forehead went backward and fell back after he was done, revealing a bulgy forehead underneath.

The girls didn't respond to him.

"Wait!" he said. He walked back to the bar area and stretched upward, standing on his toes for a second, he reached the topmost shelf and collected a pair of scissors from there. He clapped his hands and hopped back to the sitting room with joy and a bounce in his steps.

"This is how I will differentiate between you two," he said. Then in a yell that made the girls jerk and tremble, he asked; "What are your names?!"

"I-I'm Kim…" the first girl said with a shaky voice as her forefinger in her mouth.

"Good girl…Kim…" he said. "Now…"

He moved closer to her and placed one of his knees on the couch, making Kim stay in between his legs. Then in a vise-like grip, he held her head in place and began to cut her strands roughly.

Kim yelled and screamed. "Don't cut my hair!" she cried loudly. But her pleas fell on deaf ears.

When he was done with what he was doing, he stepped back and examined his work. "I know who's Kim now…" he clapped as if proud of what he had done.

"Now…you," he pointed to the other girl.

"What is your name?"

Kim who had been wailing about her hair being cut, suddenly stopped crying and faced the man, pulling her sister towards her.

"Her name is Kendra! Don't cut her hair!"

"Oh my Kim…" he said as he cocked his head to one side. "Why would I do that? Then I won't know who is Kim from Kendra. You both are the most identical twins I have seen so far… I wish there would be more like you," he finished as he touched Kendra's cheek and wiped the wetness that his hand had collected on his pants.

"Shh, Kendra," Kim whispered to her. "Daddy would come and get us, you'll see."

The man who had been walking away overheard what Kim had said to her sister. He stopped in his tracks and frowned. He gritted his teeth and his jaw muscles evidently rippled. He balled his fists and turned around to face Kim.

"Don't try to be a hero here! There is no such thing in this world that you have come into! I am your daddy now… I told you before… Did you think I was joking?" he finished that question with a smile on his face – a smile that didn't reach his eyes as his eyes were still filled with anger.

After some seconds of staring into Kim's face, he chuckled and closed his eyes. Then he opened them and said; "Where are my manners? I'm Reece… call me Daddy Reece…" he chimed. "Even if I'm not old at all…"

Kim just stared at him while her sister buried her face in her lap. Even though tears still rolled down her cheek, it didn't seem like she was crying in any way. It was like she kept her fingers crossed. She just knew that all she had to do was wait.

'Daddy always came for them,' she thought. All she had to do was take care of her sister and wait. She would not close her eyes or sleep. She would not eat anything the stranger would give her and she would make sure Kendra didn't too.

Kim used her free hand to wipe her face. She was sure that her father would find them and take them home.

Meanwhile, Reece had gone into one of the bedrooms of the three-bedroom house and opened the door which had a lock only on the outside. He had modified the doors in such a way that none of them had handles or key openings on the inside – just on the outside for his access only.

He stepped into the room and turned on the light from the switch that he had placed so high that even he and 6ft had to stretch to get to it. He looked up to the ceiling which had been changed into a mirror and smiled. There was always an unusual smile on Reece's face even when nothing was funny or required a smile. His face had been trained to wear a smile since he was of tender age – and even when Reece was seething within him and boiling with anger, the smile on his lips remained. While he was growing up, the muscles on his face had hurt from the steady and unnecessary smiling but Reece had soon gotten used to it especially after he had murdered his father's twin.

"Hey, boys…" Reece called as he watched them scamper to a corner of the room.

"Come here! Where are you running to?" he asked. "Jason… let me check out that injury."

"No!" Jason yelled.

"Do what he says, Jason…" his brother, Zed, told him. His hands were wrapped tightly around his knees that were lifted to his face level as he rocked himself back and forth. His eyes were swollen from all the crying that he had been crying for the first week that they had spent here but now, Zed was beginning to understand that this was his new home and they would never be found. However, his brother, Jason, still proved stubborn and he was steadily paying for it by receiving beatings and punches. Zed would beg and plead for his brother's sake but all that he did and said fell on deaf ears.

"Don't touch me!" Jason yelled again.

Reece intertwined his fingers in front of him and cocked his head to the side. The bangs of his hair fell to his face and covered most of his eyes but Reece could still see through the strands of his whitish hair.

"Jason Jason…" he muttered.
