I hate to admit it, but M was right… I was in fucking HELL right now…
"Keep running you little shits! If I see any of you slacking then you will be washing the toilets with your bare hands for a week" The woman standing on the podium snarled at us. The woman was probably in her early thirties, but I couldn't say for sure since I had learned that thanks to Chakra, the Kunoichis could keep looking young and beautiful for quite some time.
If this wasn't a grim dark death world, then I would have suspected this was an H World…
I turned my head to take a look at the kids running beside me. I knew the kid on my left. He was one of my seniors who was brought here from the orphanage a year ago, but I didn't know the kid on my right. I guessed he was from a Clan or something. Most of the kids running with me were complete strangers, which wasn't surprising since orphans were a very small part of the population.
In the coming years that might change since the war was going to become even more intense… Right now, Kumo was mostly engaged with the Iwa forces, but in the future, Kumo was going to engage with Kiri too… I couldn't say anything for sure, but I think Ringo Ameyuri of Kiri was killed in the Second Shinobi War. As long as it didn't have anything to do with me, I was completely fine with it.
"That's enough. Take a break!" Our instructor ordered and we stopped running before all of us plopped down on the ground. Her name was Gankona, which meant Hardass in English. I can see that she was named pretty aptly… I looked around myself and grimaced. I wasn't the only one who was out of breath, but I was worse compared to everyone else.
"Looks like you won't have to clean the toilets with your bare hands, newbie" A boy named Lam said in a disappointed tone while staring at me from the side, but I decided to simply throw him a 'bite me' look which seemed to anger and annoy him even more. Lam was not an orphan, but from what I have heard, he was not from a Clan. I don't know what his problem was, but he was trying to pick a fight with me since I showed up.
"Cut it off, Lam" Samu, the boy beside me, said in a warning tone. "You don't want to get in trouble with Gankona, do you?" Samu asked with a meaningful look on his face and Lam simply huffed before looking away. I turned toward Samu, he was one of my seniors from the orphanage.
"What is his problem?" I asked and Samu simply smiled at me before he started to speak.
"He likes bullying the weak… He got into trouble for that the last time he tried, but apparently, he hasn't grown a brain yet" Samu sighed in amusement. I didn't know what to say, but kids like Lam could be found everywhere. Though I wonder why the higher-ups in Kumo were so against bullying… I would have expected them to encourage bullying, at least behind the scenes, just to toughen us up.
"I see…" I mumbled before nodding my head in understanding.
"Time's up! Now start your pushups!" Gankona snapped and we immediately started to move without wasting any time. "Newbie! If you drop before 50 then you will be doing rounds until you drop" Gankona added when her eyes focused on me. Someone snickered from the side. "Lam! You will be on toilet cleaning duty" So it was Lam who snickered… Well, he deserved it. "I will be watching you newbie" She spoke again, her attention focused on me.
Now, I was regretting coming up to the 1st floor before anyone else…
<Line Break>
Slowly days passed away and days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Only a week after my arrival, others from my batch also started to show up on the first floor, and only after a couple of months, all of my batch mates were on the first floor. While I wasn't close to any of them except for Mira, Jira, and Azui, I was glad that none of them were dead.
Then only a month later, kids from the Clans and parents arrived at the Training Facility. Us orphans were a bit miffed over the fact that they could skip the ground floor, where we had to learn everything on our own and they were going to be taught by instructors. It was quite unfair, nobody was going to deny that, but blatant favoritism was a thing even in the Shinobi world.
It was obvious in the canon… Both Naruto and Sasuke were orphans, but the treatment Sasuke and Naruto received from the citizens of Konoha were vastly different…
In the blink of an eye, the months finally turned into a year… Not much happened within the year except for the fact that all the seniors managed to graduate from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor where they would start learning Taijutsu Katas from the instructors. The 1st floor was basically for physical training and body conditioning before we could start our real training.
"Six months more and we are going to graduate too" Jira sighed in a hopeful tone.
"Yeah… I don't know if my poor body will be able to take it anymore" A girl named Misa added from the side as she massaged her sore arms. Misa was from a Clan, who became a part of our group. At first, Jira was pretty hostile toward the new girl, but Jira slowly mellowed out throughout the months. I believe they bonded over the fact that they were suffering together.
"I still can't believe I got used to this hellhole and the Demoness who rules it with an iron fist" Zumo admitted in an incredulous tone. He joined our group along with Misa, but Zumo's parents were civilians. "I can't believe I am going to say this, but I am going to miss the miserable hag" Zumo gave a deep nod with a serious look on his face.
"Don't let Gankona hear you, or she will have your ass" I said in an amused tone and Zumo shuddered at my words, but didn't say any more.
Mira and Azui decided not to say anything since they were simply way too tired to say anything after the hellish day… Just like that, six more passed away and we finally graduated from the 1st floor…
