69 Mansion Infiltration

I was already half a block away from the mansion.

'Dante, is everything ready?'

'One minute~…'

To prevent my arm from hurting, I got a strong painkiller from the shop and injected it right on my arm, so I should be able to move fine even if a fight breaks out, it's going to hurt afterward though.

'Everything is ready~, I'll be near with Rose and Lucy.'

I moved towards the front door there were 2 guys with their red eyes about to pop out, shaking a little. They had dark circles on their eyes, and just my footstep made them jump… Dante, what did you do to these poor guys?

I was surprised by their looks after Dante stops his harassing, I'm sure that everyone is going to faint in the spot.

They saw me and relaxed their stances. I had the shotgun in my hands and put it out on my back too.

"Hey Luke, what happened out there? Half the patrols haven't come back yet." He talked casually to me… the plan was working.

"I have no idea dude, my team suddenly got chased by beasts and got lost. After a while, I was found by Maxwell from Team Alpha and gave the orders to come back and look for a cat… what is with that, did the boss lost a pet or something." I answered calmly

"You haven't heard it?"

I could see a part of their envious faces.

"Hear what?"

"The cat! Each time someone is going to fall asleep a cat wakes him up. It's been like this all day."

I did my best to act like I didn't believe their words.

"You are kidding…"

"I wish, why do you think we look like s**t."

"You look like s**t, but …a cat comes here and wakes you up? Sorry, bro that's hard to believe."

"If you don't believe me just go inside and ask anyone, no one in the mansion have managed to sleep since the smoke incident, and some are awake from before that. We were lucky that the cat just didn't let us sleep, some people just got meowed for 5 straight minutes without reason."

Meowed? I had to hold up to not laugh at this.

"It's fishy are you sure that it's not something that the Boss pull out?"

"I thought about it too, but seeing his face and what he has done to his mansion, I don't think he has anything to do with this."

"Well, wherever I'll go found Butler to ask him about the new orders."

"Ok, try not to get drowsy, that cat will never let you go."

"Thanks for the advice."

I went inside the mansion and got surprised by the scene I found.

'Dante?... What have you done to this people'

The scene in front of me was not at all, what I was expecting…

About a dozen people were going around the main hall, there was even a girl in her underwear throwing away the cushions from the couch. Most of the furniture was broken, and 2 guys were taking turns to make a hole in the wall…

When he said that he was mainly meowing, I thought it was something light, but from the words of the guards, sometimes he would go and meow on your head for a while without stopping. But to get to this point, it must be Jamie the one that ordered it, how desperate you need to be to order something like this?

'Dante, how long have you been meowing on Jamie's mind?'

'Mmmm~ about 13 hours~.'

Mental note… never make Dante mad at me.

I found Butler on the main stairs to the second floor directing the search, yelling orders.

"Mr. Butler, Luke from patrol 2, reporting for duty."

Butler wasn't in the state of the rest of the people, but he seems a little tired anyway.

"Luke? What happened to the rest of your team?"

"I'm not sure sir, we got chased by beasts and run in different ways and got lost. After a few hours, Maxwell from team Alpha found me and told me that we had to come back and find a… cat?"

"You haven't heard it?"

"No, sir."

"Lucky bastard… don't worry if we can't find it soon you will start hearing it too, go help the others in the hall in the meantime."

It was clear that he didn't like the fact that I was yet to suffer, so I moved away from him fast.

The second part had been successful.

The first part of the plan was mainly preparation for before I get into the mansion, Dante informed us about the different people that were currently lost. After hearing a short explanation about everyone, we chose Luke.

This was Rose idea, to get inside while everyone thought that I was someone else thanks to Dante's mind modification. The real Luke was hidden in a house right now waiting for a beast to go away to escape and find his way back. He was really unlucky when he was spotted by Jamie, Luke had no acquaintances, was controlled easily, and didn't even got the chance to fight back. All the people around didn't know of him until he suffered the same destiny as them.

This was the main reason we selected him, all the memories that everyone has about him are from the last week, and there is a lot of people that haven't even met him yet.

The phase one was simple, Dante changed the Luke on everyone memories to look like me. When they saw me, they had no doubts that it was me the one that was here all the time. Besides this with Dante's information we created a story of why it took me until now to get here.

Everything went really well, and when Dante finished all his modifications, I went to the mansion and tried to act like Luke.

Now I'm inside but for the third part of the plan I have to be sure that no one discovers me and going up straight towards Jamie could be suspicious, so I'm just following Butler orders for now. Dante is going to take care that I'm sent upstairs later, but we have to prepare something else first.

I went to the wall where the guys were making the hole and helped there.

I noticed Butler going upstairs.

On the third floor of the masion.

'Meow~.'

Jamie was holding his head with both hands, every 10 seconds he would hear a cat on his mind.

At that moment Butler came in.

"Sir, someone from the patrols came back, somehow they got lost and attacked by beasts so probably most of the guards and patrol are in a similar situation."

Jamie's looked back at Butler without any interest on the people outside.

'Meow~.'

"Did you find the cat?"

…

"No sir there is no clues about the cat… what should we do? I don't think he is inside the mansion

Jamie was nodding in the weakest state that he had ever been.

"Any idea?"

'Meow~.'

"I think that the cat is a psychic, he shouldn't be too far if he's able to play with us like that so we can send people to look around."

Jamie was nodding again with his eyes wide open.

'Grrrrr~.'

"Hahaha, you don't like that we find out that you are not here?!?! Hahaha!"

'Meow~.'

Butler just watched Jamie's maniacal laughter, while waiting for the answer.

Outside, if Dante could slap his own forehead with his paws, he would have done it. At his side, he was sending a lot of information to Rose so she could notice if there was something wrong. Dante was mainly modifying details, and following Jamie, to annoy him more.

Rose was also getting a constant flow of information of what happened in the rest of the mansion. In the beginning, she was overwhelmed by the sensation of receiving so many thoughts that didn't belong to her, but she got used to it after a while.

Even if she was focusing mainly on the place where Spencer was, she still could see what Jamie was doing.

'I can believe it took them all day to notice this…'

"Excellent idea Butler send people to look outside." Jamie said, and Butler made a bow and left.

'Meow~.'

'Dante, how is it possible that they didn't think about this before? I don't think they are that stupid…'

'Actually~, I thought that too, but Jamie really is~… I had to constantly repress Butler and some others of thinking this out loud~…but it didn't even cross Jamie's mind~.'

'Meow~.'

Dante kept meowing in Jamie's mind for a while.
