51 Beware

I took a deep breath, I could feel the warmth of Rose's hand. I was calmer than the last time I had to do this, but don't think I will ever be able to get rid of the complex feeling of taking someone's life.

Rose was looking at me trying to figure out my mental state.

"I'm fine, go tell the others that I'm fine, they must be worried".

'Okay, I'll come back right away'.

"Just rest, I'll go back on the morning".

She seemed reluctant but comply in the end. I knew that she was tired, and I don't like that she has been outside her body using her power so much. She went back using astral portal and I was alone on the roof.

I went to get the knife I threw before. Now that the battle ended I noticed that my left hand hurts a little probably I got a light burn, if it wasn't because of the glove I would have been in danger at that time.

I got near to the redhead's body to see if he had anything useful on him. I found a picture. The redhead at the right, two more guys I didn't recognize and dark-haired blue-eyed girl in the middle. I don't know why but I took it with me.

I went downstairs and was surprised that the other guy was still alive, I knew he hasn't died since there was no notification but the fact that he endured till now was unbelievable. He was in the same place as before, sitting against the wall bleeding out.

When he saw me, he knew that they had lost, some regret showed on his face, but he knew he was going to die soon.

"Why..?". Was all he said.

"Because a little girl wants her mom back". He was surprised, probably understood that the woman they took had a daughter. He nodded in understanding, people said that before you die you see all your life past before your eyes. I wasn't a fan of making other suffer so I took my gun.

He mumbled something, so I got near for him to listen.

'Jamie Walters… John Hamilton…beware of them…'. Before he could explain or do anything more I receive the notification.

Are they related to Jamie? And who is John Hamilton? That name sounded familiar for some reason but I couldn't remember where I heard it.

Deep in thought, I went to complete the mission. I arrived at the apartment Rose me about and looked the rooms one by one. I took a knife from the kitchen, and a pump shotgun that I found, the shotgun was probably the third' guys weapon, it was the same that the police used.

Finally, I opened a room and found 6 people tied up they all looked in my direction when I came in. I don't want to go into details about the smell of that place. Most of them were sleeping so most of them didn't even notice me. Despite the darkness, I was able to notice a woman between them.

She wasn't sleeping and noticed me when opened the door when I got next to her I could notice that she was shaken.

"Don't move, I'm going to cut the rope… Dana misses you". I set her free, at the mention of Dana's name she was surprised and stopped shaking, she touched her wrists which were in pain for being tied almost all day.

I gave her time to move a little and choose to free the one I thought was the weakest of the others and pass him the kitchen knife.

"Free the others and do whatever you want".

Then I Helped Dana's mom to stand up, after thinking for a second a took with me the drunk guy and we left the room. I didn't want to reveal any information in front of the others, so I waited to leave the room to talk with her.

"My name is Spencer, I met with Dana this afternoon and she asked me to help you".

She seemed both surprised and relieved that someone was able to find Dana.

"Is Dana Ok?".

"Yes, she is with my friends and they are taking care of her, she was scared when I found her… come in here".

In the second floor, I turned and went into another apartment. She didn't question and followed me.

"Why are we here".

"Moving around in the night is difficult and dangerous, so we have to wait till morning to go back, also I want to ask this guy something and I don't plan to take him with me".

"Is my Dana really ok".

"She was scared and sad when I found her under that bed, but when I told her that I was going to bring you back she seemed better, tomorrow you are going to see her yourself".

"Thank you… thank you so much" she started to cry. "I was so worried and didn't know what to do. If I told that my daughter was there too I don't know what that guy would have done, I was so scared".

She broke down at that moment and let all her emotions out, I just tried to pat her back. Once she was calmed I told her to take a room to rest a little.

I went to the window and after a couple of minutes, I saw the other group leaving in the middle of the night.

I blocked the door as I was used to and fell sleep.

Last night I took a nap, because sleeping 2 hours even in the night doesn't count as sleeping, in the morning I could feel the light in my eyes and warm feeling next to me.

When I opened my eyes I found my cute girlfriend in her astral form next to me.

"Did I made you wait too much"?

'I oversleep a little too, I just arrive'.

My voice reached Dana's mother who was already awake. And she came to the living room.

She had different clothes that the ones she was wearing yesterday. Probably something that she found in here.

"I didn't have the time to ask before, what's your name?

"Isabella, I don't know how I will repay you for helping us this time". I could feel a cold gaze at my side and Rose.

"Don't look at me like that". Even if I can talk with her in my mind I'm more used to do it in loud unless I'm focused.

"Who are you talking too?"

"My girlfriend Rose…" When I thought about my answer, it sounded like a crazy person with an imaginary girlfriend, so I quickly added. "She has an ability that makes her invisible so only I can see her".

That's not any better. Rose was laughing at my side while Isabella looked at me as if I was some kind of freak.

"You will meet are at the apartment".

I checked the shotgun and loaded it, then I check my other weapons, Isabella's eyes almost popped out when she saw what I was doing.

Before leaving I had to have a little talk with the drunk guy. It didn't seem like if he was going to react any time soon. I tried to move him and awaken him to no avail. In the end, I just untied him and left him there.

Even if I didn't talk to him I got an idea of what may have happened to them.

He was one of the guys in the picture. And when I looked at the picture with better light I discovered that it was taken on our old neighborhood. At that moment the sound of the explosions came to my mind. These guys were the ones fighting Jamie. But to go on par with Jamie it meant that their group used to be bigger.

Now I understood why he tried to warn me about Jamie, they fought him, and in the end lost, are the other guys in the picture alive or are they under Jamie's control?

Isabella saw me trying to wake up the guy to no avail. She didn't say anything, but I knew she wanted to leave soon to see her daughter.

"Does the name John Hamilton ring a bell to you?". She was surprised by my sudden question, but I could see that she also finds that name familiar.

"It Doesn't matter, are you ready to go?"

"I don't have anything else with me so yes"

"Ok let's move".

With the sunlight and Rose help, I was able to move a lot faster than last night. I was a little regretful that I had to leave that guy behind, but I don't think he was going to wake up any time soon

Luckily on our way we saw a group of chickens, I shot two of them, and got 2 notifications for killing F-Ranked beast (10 system points total), they had an intimidation ability that didn't work on me.

The other chickens ran away but I couldn't chase them. I might be immune to it, but Isabella wasn't so it took me a couple of minutes to calm her down. I took the chickens with me to cook them.

We move and we were able to avoid all the troubles on our way so it didn't take to long till we arrived.

When we went inside the building Dana was there with Hope and jumped onto Isabella's arms and cried.

"Mommy!!"
