53 A Peaceful Day

I looked myself in the mirror for a while and got a conclusion.

'I'm screwed'.

"I'm sorry Spence". I could see Rose's sorry face.

It could have been worse though if this was on her neck G would kill me, with this maybe I can at least keep my life… Hopefully.

"Do you think we can tell it was a burn or wound from yesterday's battle". I started to think of excuses or a way to cover it up.

"If I wear a turtleneck sweater or a scarf, it's going to be weird right?".

"Yes, and I don't think it can cover it either, it's too close to the jaw, what about makeup?".

I thought a little… I don't like the idea of wearing makeup, but I think it should work.

"Ok, that should make it". I sighed.

"I think I saw some in my brother's room".

When we came to the apartment G took the master bedroom, so the makeup was from the old owner. Rose left, and I kept looking at my neck. It's not that bad, if I'm able to hide it for today by tomorrow it should be gone.

Rose came back soon with a little box.

"Sit here". She opens it and took a brush, there were different colors and she took my hand and started to put makeup on it to how they look on my skin.

Knock Knock.

My heart almost stopped when I heard the door but, relaxed the next second when I heard Hope voice from the other side.

"Hey, lovebirds are you awake!"… it was clear that if we weren't we would be now with that…

I thought about faking it but Rose answered.

"Yes".

"Can I come in?".

"No …go away". I responded to her this time.

"OMG are you naked?" I could almost imagine her mocking smile while saying that. This time it was Rose who answered.

"Of course not!!!". She blushed again.

"Just come in". I sighed this was going to just get worse if we don't let her in.

We could see Hope's head peeking after she opened the door and came into the room.

"I'm glad you had enough time to get dres… what are you doing?

She wanted to tease us but she got confused by the scene of Rose putting makeup in my hand.

"Spence… are you into that sort of stuff?..."

"What sort of stuff?"

"You know dress like a woman and those things? Or maybe you are the submissive type and Rose is the one that likes it".

I couldn't even respond to her. Having this kind of conversation with my sister was extremely uncomfortable… and the fact that she thinks that Rose and I are into that stuff makes it's even worse.

"Of course not!!!" this time Rose was the one that reacted… "we are just trying to cover a hickey so my brother will not see it…".

Hope face went through confusion, to surprise and ended in a cunning smile.

"Oh my… Rose you minx… I knew that there was something of that on you".

"No, it's not like that it just…". She didn't seem to have an answer to Hope so I had to step in.

"Hope stop, you can tease her after we solve this and my life is not in danger"

All this was an overreaction, it's not like G is going to kill me… probably, but I don't think I would like for him notice it either way.

In this time Hope was inspecting my neck looking at the hickey.

"How did you even do that? A couple of days ago an alligator hit him, and he only got a minor wound".

… How did Rose manage to do this?

Rose seemed to be deep in thought about this too. I wanted to try something.

"Rose… hit me"

"I knew you were into that!"

At that point Rose and I just ignored her, she hit me without much force on the arm. It didn't hurt but there was something weird.

"Hope hit me… and don't dare to say anything weird please".

She clearly wanted to keep teasing us but was stopped before she could, so she vented a little hitting me as hard as she could.

It tickled a little but Rose's punch hurt a little more.

"Rose hit was a little more painful".

"What she didn't even use force in her punch!".

"I have no idea but I think there are three options…". Rose finished my idea.

"…Astral link or I have an unknown power?"

"Aaaah don't finish each other phrases is too soon for that! Wait what is the third?".

""You are a weakling"". We said at the same time and laughed.

Rose already chose a tone that matched my skin and covered the hickey. I could see a little mismatch on the colors but it could be because of my eyesight. In either case, this color was the closest to mine.

"And what do you think?". I showed the place where the hickey was and both looked.

"I think that someone can notice that you have some makeup, but besides that, it's barely noticeable". Rose said.

I sighed and relaxed finally I don't think that G is going to notice this.

Hope smiled cunningly.

"To think that my brother would like wearing makeup". She still wanted revenge for us calling her weakling

"I told you it's not like that…"

"Then why you didn't just patch it and said that you got hurt in a battle…"

…

Rose and I looked at each other… how didn't we think of that?

"See you subconscious betrayed you".

Sometimes I hate my sister.

"Oh by the way to buy my silence I want you to cook today, use the chicken!!".

I should left her out…

We were already interrupted by Hope, and with the lingering danger of something like this happening again we decided to leave the room.

I made Hope train in more difficult things for a while and, I saw Dana playing with Dante. Isabella was looking at them.

"Spencer, how was your nap??". She came to where I was to chat, she seemed more energetic than before.

"Amazing, I feel like I'm completely recovered, could you rest?".

"I'm fine, I rested for a while and when Dana woke up, Dante came and they started to play… what happened to your neck?".

"It's nothing I just got a little burn in yesterday's fight". I covered the hickey with a little and improvised band-aid that covered a part of my neck.

Isabella's face showed some guilt and I felt bad for it.

"Thanks again for everything I don't know what would have been of us if it wasn't for you".

"I couldn't let Dana like that, besides anyone with some humanity left would have done the same after seeing her".

She was looking at Dana, with a smile.

"I wonder how much "humanity" does everyone have now…Is there anything I can do to help?"

I thought for a second.

"If you know how to prepare an amazing chicken you can help me cook later".

She was surprised by my simple request.

"Sure, oh you remember that you asked me about John Hamilton?"

"You know him?"

"The name was familiar, but I didn't remember why until a little while ago, that's the name of the police commissioner. I saw the news about him becoming the youngest police commissioner that we ever had some time ago".

The police commissioner?

Rose looked at me with curiosity, she wasn't there went I got the warning so she didn't know about it so I told her about the bald guy last words.

"Beware of Jamie Walter and John Hamilton"

I took the chance to tell her about my thoughts of the redhead group being the one that was fighting with Jamie before.

But what was the relationship with Hamilton? With the information I have, I couldn't be sure.

They could have lost part of their group to either Jamie or Hamilton…maybe both. But besides that, there weren't too many options I can think of.

I just hope that I don't have to go against him for now, Jamie and the beasts are enough for now.

Jamie's mission had just 5 days left since I took today off I have just 4 days left for the mission. I decide to use the rest of the day to see everyone.

I was really nervous when I went to the workshop, but since G was focused working on something he didn't even notice the "wound" on my neck.

Hayley's progress was so insane that I thought about taking her with me to hunt but I discarded the idea because Rose wouldn't like it. I helped a little but now she didn't need me to know how the freeze spread and stuff like that, because she could feel it.

I was surprised to see Dante moving around so much, he kept playing with Dana, but I think that he was directing Dana in the game somehow.

Rose was with Isabella and Hope chatting, I hope she doesn't say too many embarrassing stuff after what happened today.

In the afternoon I cleaned the third room in the apartment I share with G for Isabella and Dana to sleep there. This was the most peaceful day I had since we left our old neighborhood, and I didn't know how tired I was until now.

Later with Isabella, we cook one of the chickens, it was accompanied by the classic preserved food we ate always. Thanks to Isabella's expertise, this was by far the best meal we had since the meteor shower, I also opened a can of tuna for Dante.

Hayley was there with us, now she was able to control the aura enough for it to not scare Isabella and Dana. Isabella seemed a little nervous but Dana was completely unaffected, and I wondered if she was an esper too.

After eating we each went to sleep. Dana and Isabella took G's room which bed was bigger for them to sleep comfortably, and G took the third room.

I kissed Rose goodnight and went to bed, this time Rose didn't come to sleep with me on her astral form.
