181 A Hunch?

He knew that the situation was severe, but didn't press the issue anymore, we stood there waiting for the other to arrive.

I looked to the east and took a deep breath… rain clouds, at least I have one good new, I don't control everything that happens in Green Shelter and as long as it doesn't affect us to seriously I don't care much.

In one of the recent reports, I got from Dante he told me that apparently there was a deficit of water because of a problem with the underground source we were using. The rain might solve that at least.

Milo and Giorgio were walking slow, there was no rush because there was still a lot of people left to arrive.

"I was awakened and was told to come here. Does someone knows what is happening?"

Giorgio was the one that looked the most confused, but from his thoughts, I knew that Milo was as curious as him about the strange situation.

"I think a beast invasion is coming, I will tell the details when everyone else is here."

Their faces turned serious when they heard that.

They were about to ask more about it when we noticed Dr. Harting coming. They decide to wait as he calmly greeted as it was any other day, his attitude helped Giorgio relax.

Don't misunderstand, it's not like Giorgio was scared of the invasion, but he was the only one of us that have lived through an invasion and knew how dangerous and desperate they were. During the invasion to Aurora Clinic, he was on the first line protecting it since the beginning, so it was expected that he was nervous with the situation. By the time our reinforces came he had already pretty much controlled the beasts and was much calmer.

As we waited more, I suddenly thought about something and asked Dante right away.

'How is Cai-Cai doing?'

I was worried that she might get affected by the call of the Alpha, last time she wasn't affected, but it wasn't impossible that she ended attacking someone of us now that the real Alphas were around.

'There was a little… situation earlier that involved her~, but I helped her get out of it, and we already find a way to solve it, so there is nothing to worry about~… I mean there is nothing worry besides the two beasts invasions…'

I wasn't sure what to respond to that, but as long as everyone is okay, it doesn't matter that much.

The last to arrive was a man that I remember was surnamed Johnson, he was working with the building division and was in the last meeting.

"Will someone explains why are we here at this time?"

Dr. Harting as the leader decided to move inside the school.

"We should go to the conference room. This is a delicate topic."

As we walked towards the school, I started to narrate what has happened until now… which wasn't that much because I couldn't tell them about the missions. So that left me with… a bad feeling and Rose's vision."

"That's all the information you have? You bring us here early morning because of a hunch?"

… the one that talked was the annoying bald guy that I saw in the last reunion. The guy stood up to leave when Dr. Harting stopped him.

"Where are you going?"

"Back to bed, I'm not up for this nonsense."

"The meeting isn't over Gaston. Come sit, or I'll find someone else to do your job."

It was Mr. D'Aurora the one that stopped him, Gaston was angry and went back to his chair without even thinking about it. He wasn't going to risk his job for a couple of extra sleep hours.

"What are your thoughts."

Mr. D'Aurora asked me as nothing had happened.

"I don't think it's a coordinated attack, but I think that there will be two simultaneous invasions. One from the swamp and another from the farmlands."

"Do you have any way to confirm any of this now?"

"Unfortunately they are outside Dante's and Rose scouting area, but Rose saw that the beasts are moving out of the city. Dante didn't find any of beast in this area, and that is weird. Beast already proved that they can act smart so the Alphas might even be working together, but it's unlikely."

"Beasts working together? That it's stupid, I really need to stay for this?"

"In the last reunion, we even talk about that. We are allied with beasts how can you be that dumb? Seriously why is this guy even here?"

This time it was Blake the one that responded he was also tired of the interruptions. Luckily my instinct and senses had earned a few people that trusted me enough to take this seriously. Milo was one of them, so he started to think on ways to prepare the defense.

"Let's take this seriously if they noticed the invasion when it's coming it would be too late for us to prepare if this is true, then we have time to get ready… how far can Rose and Dante reach with their scouting?"

They never knew the method she used to scout, so they didn't need to know that she acquired Clairvoyance.

"From our apartment, she can barely reach the city border to the west, the same distance to the east. Dante should be about seven blocks around."

'Eight~.'

"Sorry, eight blocks."

This cat keeps improving like if it was nothing.

"We need eyes there can we move them?"

"No, they are not fighters, I think we should focus on strengthening our defenses."

"But there is no harm in sending them right? At least we will confirm that you just had a nightmare and this was useless… they can escape if they see something."

Seriously I will kill this guy.

"I Said No…"

This time I used fear inducement on my voice and focused on him. He became white as a paper, and his eyes almost pop out. He was shaking, and a couple of seconds later a strong odor forced me to shut down my smelling sense for now. I noticed that Giorgio who was next to him had to move away while looking at the floor.

I might have overdone it a little.

This was the first time I use this ability, so I didn't know how strong was the effect was. Also, I didn't use it all the power that I could, but I was tired of this guy interruptions, trying to use my people like tools was the final straw.

The guy was silent, and everyone around me were exchanging looks.

"Go to your house to change… you don't need to come back here."

He didn't need Mr. D'Aurora to repeat that twice and run away, without any care if he had just lost his work or not. Dr. Harting nodded at the decision.

"I think we all agree that we need to act fast. Spencer, I know that it's a lot to ask, but I will need to borrow Dante's power to coordinate with everyone, going to grab everyone house by house would take to much time, and we might not have that."

"Just say the names. He will bring them here."

That was almost a meaningless work for Dante and didn't require him to concentrate at all.

"Thank you. First, what is the current state of the construction of the inner and outer walls?"

Samuel and Giorgio looked at each other. Samuel was in charge of multiple sites and delegated a lot to his people, he still knew almost everything, but Giorgio was the one in charge of the walls and knew every detail about them.

Last time it was decided to create two walls one protecting the center of the city were most of the logistics and supplies were located and an outer wall that would be a little farther than the current gates thinking on an expansion.

"The outer wall will need at least a couple of weeks to be ready, the inner wall was scheduled to be finished today or tomorrow, but with multiple teams working on it we might finish it before noon."

"Start right away think of who you need. Samuel everyone in the construction area should focus on finishing the wall as soon as possible."

"Let's add the goons they are all enhanced to that type of work."

I added the goons to finish the wall because most of them have more endurance and strength than most of the workers. The next step was decided. Dante started to wake up confused people while Samuel and Giorgio left the room to coordinate the finishing touches, because of his ability Leon went with them to help too.

The way we were working was under the assumption that the invasion was going to happen any moment from now on.
