Chapter 40 - Beginning of a Battle
"Haaa... Haaa!"
A maid, clutching her hem, dashed through the corridor, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
Yet, she was determined to press on, knowing that the information she needed to deliver was of utmost importance.
Ignoring her weary state, she sprinted toward the count's study.
"C-count!—mff?!"
As she rounded the corner, trying to call out at the top of her lungs to summon the count, a black cloth suddenly fell over her face, shrouding her vision as if she were being seized.
At that moment, others around her swiftly restrained her, well aware of how grave a mistake it would be to disturb the count while he was engaged in a meeting with a nobleman.
In such a chaotic scene, the head maid would most likely punish them with overwhelming work until exhaustion if they did not stop this maid from disturbing the Count at that moment.
