"Huh!?"

'X-rank!?' Although he couldn't believe it, the translucent screen hovering in his presence revealed to him that not only did he awaken a Soul-Type, but he awakened an unknown Soul-Type.

"How?" He asked, muttering under his breath. Much like everyone in his class, he thought that he was talentless, unable to awaken a Soul-Type.

Instantly recalling what happened, he remembered the few system notifications that popped up moments before the tides of the battle changed.

"I fulfilled the condition for the second awakening? What does that mean?"

The more he remembered the details of the battle, the more it became a bit clearer to him.

'That dragon also said something about a blood contract, are they both related?' He thought.

Glancing at the translucent blue screen once more, he narrowed down the mystery behind all this.

'I see, What!?'

It was now he actually comprehended what he was capable of.

'I can summon a dragon!?' He thought out loud, visibly excited at what he could do.

"Summoner Soul-Type huh, now it makes sense, the dragon did say something about a blood contract. I see, the moment my blood came in contact with my hand I unintentionally fulfilled the condition necessary for awakening my talent and this, this system automatically summoned the dragon."

He wasn't surprised he had a system, after all after years spent on reading web novels, he anticipated such would happen after transmigration. Just not to him.

There was truth to what he said but the question arises, if all that was necessary for him to awaken a Soul-Type was his blood, why didn't the Orb of awakening register his Soul-Type?

In truth, moments after his death on earth, a system awoken in him and drew his soul immediately into purgatory. However before it could execute it's usual host-binding task, the powers of the goddess of fate intervened and temporarily shut it down, sealing the entirety of his Soul-Energy moments later and forcefully binding a random system to his soul.

The spell which was supposed to summon five human souls with considerable Soul-Energy, summoned only four. Because a powerful soul was already present in purgatory.

The Orb did not detect any Soul-Energy from Rentaro because his was completely sealed thanks to goddess's spell.

However, the moment Rentaro fulfilled the conditions necessary to break the seal and being the last person to touch the Orb, it immediately reacted to the unveiling of the seal that hid Rentaro's own Soul-Energy and revealed his Soul-Type. Hence the error in awakening the first time, paved the way for a second awakening.

At that moment he realized, he wasn't bound by the goddess's mission. It was simply a coincidence.

"Though it seems summoning a dragon consumed almost all my Soul-Energy, I guess the rank of one's Soul-Type doesn't affect his initial Soul-Energy."

Now that he finally surmised all that was happening, he came to a conclusion.

"I see." He said, chuckling softly. "I never would have gone to the world of the dead, however the goddess's spell affected where I should have been transmigrated to and the abilities I would have gained depending on the world."

He also concluded the novel they were transported to, was the novel [ A Perfect Ascension] written by a renowned author on earth about 2 years ago on earth, inspired by the year 1914. The novel featured tales of world war 1, only the events were very much different.

"In the novel, the main character who awakened an A-rank skill was supposed to fight and lose to that man, but given our sudden interference. It all changed, that particular battle was supposed to be the driving factor for his missed it. I think the main character... Is now Mizuko."

"Rentaro?" A faint voice called out to him.

"Huh? Daichi?" Gazing to his left, he found the rest of his peers summoned along with him on various beds. Currently, only him and Daichi regained consciousness.

'Shoot! Did he hear what I said?' He thought.

"When did you wake up?" He asked, attempting to confirm if he overheard all his mumbling.

"Just now, my head's still a bit sore, but I thought I heard someone talking. Guess it was you." He replied, rubbing the back of his head slowly with his hand.

"What happened? How did we end up in the school's infirmary?" With a brief inspection, he recognized the room they were in.

"You were all brought here by your teachers, you have a lot of explaining to do." The doors of the infirmary was pushed open, startling the two boys.

Principal Hana, Alister Vance and his other accomplice, Shun Li all entered the infirmary, lining up in front of Rentaro.

"What happened?" She questioned.

After explaining their side of the story to the principal, she sighed heavily. "So he was a double agent huh? My goodness, this world is starting to become even more dangerous by the minute."

Taking a deep breath, she glared at Rentaro instantly, leaving the two boys confused.

"What?"

"After careful speculations from this unpredicted event. We have decided that you, Rentaro Mizuno has been selected for a recommendation spot into the Soul Academy." She announced, leaving the two boys dumbfounded.

"What!?" They both exclaimed.

"We have specially requested from the parents of you six that you remain here for the time being, if what you say is true, then it's safe to assume that he had other accomplice. So you all will be placed under 24 hour surveillance till departure tomorrow. That will be all for now."

With her final announcement, she approached the infirmary's door along with the two men.

"Wait Principal Hana!" The bold voice of Daichi echoed through the room, calling for her attention.

"What is it?" She asked, coming to an abrupt halt.

"What about me? Do I also qualify to take the screening exams into the Soul Academy?" He asked, speculating that Rentaro's involvement in the exam was based off his actions.

Principal Hana intended to leave the room before he could question her, she had no idea how to explain it to him but she had to.

"Your Soul-Energy is fluctuating in a pattern we have never witnessed before, until we can figure out why, I'm sorry. I don't think you should ever use your Soul-Energy ever again."
