Chapter 1 The Rain falls hard

I stand at the glass wall and stare at the city full of tall buildings and neon lights. my apartment is silent. how it often is when I'm all alone. I feel a vibration coming from my jacket's pocket. I quickly take my phone out. "Looks like another council meeting..." I mumble to myself as I answer the call. the voice of a middle-aged man speaks. "Rihanna. we are having a meeting so make sure to come. this one you can not miss." I scowl. "Right, ill be there..." I tell him. "Ok be careful." the man replies. he then hangs up on me. that's strange why do I need to be careful..? I decided to ignore that statement and get ready to leave. I go to the entrance and slip on my heels. I turn to my right to face the mirror on the wall. I wore a fitted black top with cutouts in various areas. I then wore a maroon skirt along with an oversized jacket. I quickly grab my umbrella. it was in the corner by the door. it was still wet. a few raindrops trickled down. The door was automatic and slid open when I approached. once I entered the hallway the door closed. the hall was brightly lit. I heard the sounds on my heels on the shiny wood floor. the hall wasn't long so I shortly made it to the elevator. before I could press the button the doors opened. a young man was standing inside alone. he wore a black suit and his black hair was all messy. I was going to try and at least say hello but he left rather quickly. he must have just moved here recently. I sighed and entered the elevator. I reached the buttons and pressed F1. I stood there waiting to arrive. The doors opened abruptly. I walked out. the lobby seemed rather deserted today. I pulled my phone out with my avabile hand. it was only 7:24 it was still early evening. but I was never given a time. I went to a couch in the lobby and sat. I set my umbrella beside the couch. I sent a message to the group chat with the other council members. "What time is this meeting?" I typed it up then sent it. I set my phone down on my lap. just in a few seconds, I got a response. it read "8:30 don't be late." I typed up a quick response. "Thanks! ^^" I turned my phone off and was about to put it in my pocket but saw a notification. it was from messages. in the banner, it said, "Rihanna you need to be more responsible." I didn't recognize the name of the person who sent the message. had I forgotten someone's name? I didn't feel a need to reply so I shoved my phone in my pocket and grabbed my umbrella. I went to the glass doors. For some reason, these weren't automatic. a young man was standing there and opened the door for me. Once I get outside I put my umbrella up. I start walking and avoid any puddles. I head down a set of stairs to get to the central area of the city. down here it was less safe. as I walked down an alleyway I felt stares coming from every direction. I decide to just go to the lone ranger tonight. at least until that meeting. The lone ranger isn't too far so I get there rather quickly. when I enter I see groups of people everywhere talking loudly. I grab myself a drink. the only open seat is next to a young man. he had a few scars on his face and had a calm look on his face. I sat right next to him. I keep to myself and take small sips from my glass. I start to consider hiring a bodyguard. the city is always dangerous. this man here looks like he could do it. but I should just hire a professional. I look at my drink. "Are you all alone?" the man asked me. I looked up and replied, "Yes I am but I'm currently looking for a bodyguard." I take another sip from my glass. "The streets are especially dangerous tonight. I do wonder how you managed to get all the way here from that fancy place of yours," he says as he swishes his glass around. "Do you perhaps need a job?" I ask. " are you offering me a job this quick?" he says with a grin. "Yes, I am because I'd like to be safe tonight." I tell him before taking the last sip from my glass. "so how much for the night?" he asks, finally making eye contact. "twenty thousand enough?" I say right as I set my glass down. "that's good enough" he says. I smile and get up to order another drink. I ended up getting my new bodyguard one too. I'm not sure if it was the best choice to hire a stranger. I hand him a glass. "So what's your name?" I ask him with an optimistic sound to my voice. "Sota." he says in response. "I'm Rihanna." I tell him. "Oh are you Rihanna Hills?" he asks while looking up at me. "Yep," I reply. "So your a model and you own a company..." he said while looking back at the floor. "yes that's right I model part-time and own a fashion company." I tell him proudly. He nods in response. sota then looks up at me. "Don't you have a meeting soon?" he asks. "Oh that's right I had entirely forgotten!" I say. "Wait how did you know?" I reach into my pocket. "it was announced publicly." he told me. sota gets up from his seat and puts his hand on my shoulder. "alright let's get going." he starts to walk. I stay close by his side. that's when I notice the difference in our height. "By the way, I won't be needing you after tonight." I tell him as we leave the noisy bar. he nods.
