As soon as Han Shuo and Donna were gone, Dolores went to Felder and whispered, "Patriarch, you should use the Divine Brand the Overgod gave you and inform His Lordship that Bryan is here. Perhaps the Dark Lord could descend here and finish off Bryan!"
Dolores kept his voice very low, as if he was afraid that Han Shuo, who had disappeared into a forest with Donna, might hear him.
The members of the Laver family, who had earlier begged Han Shuo to spare their lives, had their eyes lit up after hearing Dolores' suggestion and voiced their agreement, hoping that Felder would immediately summon the Overgod of Darkness to kill Han Shuo.
Felder furrowed his brow at Dolores and said angrily, "You want us Lavers exterminated?"
Dolores was taken aback. Surprised by Felder's reaction to his proposal, he hastily replied, "No, Patriarch! I do not understand. Why is that such a bad idea?"
Felder looked at the other members of the Lavers who were also puzzled, before he groaned and replied in a deep voice, "If the Dark Lord wanted Bryan dead, do you think he could have walked out of the Darkness Dominion alive?"
Dolores became even more astonished. "Patriarch, are you saying that the Overlord of Darkness wanted to let him escape? How is that possible? Hofs and Wallace were City Lords of the Darkness Dominion. Why would the Overlord of Darkness spare Bryan's life after he killed two of the most important people in his Dominion?"
Felder looked scornful and replied, "You have never been in the presence of the Overgod, and you will never understand his power. I don't know why the Dark Lord didn't kill him, but I'm sure that if His Lordship had wanted to, Bryan would be dead long before he ever left His Dominion.
Dolores was overcome with shock and momentarily speechless at this bombshell.
Felder then let out another cold groan and said, "You'd better give up touching him as soon as possible. Speaking of Bryan, we may even have him to thank for our return to the Darkness Dominion. Considering our family's condition and strength, I'm far from qualified to be the City Lord of Hushveil City. I suspect that the Overgod's decision has something to do with Bryan... "
Dolores was overcome with shock and it seemed that this was too much of a revelation for him to digest. He muttered in disbelief, "Impossible, this is impossible! Why would an Overgod, one of the most powerful beings in the universe, think of such a puny character?"
"How would we know?" Felder suddenly looked down, shook his head and sighed. He lamented, "If I had known that Bryan possessed such great powers, I would have personally greeted him the day he first stepped into the Lavers residence. Sigh, indeed, Donna's foresight is light years ahead of ours. Had I listened to her advice, our Lavers family might have soared, not declined."
"Pa... Patriarch, have you... given up on... avenging Uncle Avery's death?" asked Dolores, stammering after a moment's hesitation.
"Avenge?" Felder glanced at the dense forest Han Shuo and Donna were walking through before he sighed again. Turning back to Dolores, he replied, "Yarus, Darkwater, Darkstone, Hofs and Wallace - almost every City Lord of the Darkness Dominion and a bunch of Highgods joined forces and tried to kill him. But in the end they failed and it cost Hofs, Wallace and Larikson their lives. So tell me, how would we get our revenge? Who among our House of Lavers is capable of it?"
"But...but..." Dolores wanted to say something, but was stifled by the brutal reality.
Felder interrupted and sternly instructed, "You all better give up on this idea as soon as possible. When we get to Hushveil City, concentrate on your duties. Don't even fantasies about attacking Bryan, or you will bring disaster upon our House of Lavers. Remember that by heart!
Dolores and the other members of the House of Lavers found this instruction difficult to accept, but their Patriarch gave them no room for refusal. They nodded and promised to obey his command.
***In a dense jungle of green and lush vegetation, the ground was covered with beautiful flowers that gave off a faint scent.
Among these flowers stood a most striking, captivating, lovely beauty, wearing a light purple dress that did not in the least conceal the beautiful curves of her body and her long, slender legs. There was a hint of sorrow on her rosy-white cheeks, which would invite sympathy from anyone.
Standing in front of Donna, Han Shuo felt as if he had a million words to say, but no words could come out of his mouth. In the end, he let out a long sigh and said, "It's been a while, Donna."
Donna turned her bright eyes to Han Shuo and stared at him foolishly for a moment. This young man who hid his light under a bushel and came to Elysium with nothing had become one of the most prominent figures in the world and had great influence.
Not only was he the ruler of the most dangerous land in Elysium, but he had fought and escaped the most powerful City Lords of the Darkness Dominion. In just a few decades, he had gone from being a nobody to becoming one of the most outstanding beings on Elysium. His power was so great that many of the City Lords of the Divine Dominions were intimidated by his name.
Even though Donna had known from day one that Han Shuo would eventually rise to great heights, the heights he had reached that day were still far beyond her imagination.
"Bryan, I really did not expect you to achieve what you have today," Donna said with a somewhat forced smile. She wasn't as bright and charming as Han Shuo remembered.
Han Shuo stared awkwardly for a moment, trying to think of something to say before he asked, "Donna, where are you all going?"
"We are returning to the Darkness Dominion. The Overlord of Darkness has given my father a Divine Brand and ordered him to go to Hushveil City and become the City Lord," Donna replied straightforwardly.
"Oh, I see. It's great that you all benefit from Hofs' death, haha. Well, what about the City of Shadows? Who will be the new City Lord?" Han Shuo did not expect the Overlord of Darkness to give the position to Felder.
"Andre of the House of Sainte," Donna replied.
"That is wonderful. He is absolutely qualified for the position. Although Wallace was a capable Lord of the City, he was too intolerant of competition and drove talent out of the City, hindering its growth. I'm sure the City of Shadows will flourish under Andre's leadership," Han Shuo said with a smile.
Donna knit her long, thin eyebrows slightly and stared at Han Shuo intensely without saying a word. This made Han Shuo feel very uncomfortable.
For some reason, Han Shuo felt rather nervous under Donna's gaze. It had nothing to do with power. It was a mixed feeling of guilt, a bit of excitement, and fear.
After remaining silent for a while, Donna took a deep breath and raised her buxom breasts, the tight clothing seeming to rip. She stared at Han Shuo with her bright eyes without blinking. As if she had gathered enough courage, she finally asked, "Why did you kill him?"
Although Donna did not say the name, Han Shuo immediately knew exactly who she was referring to.
Han Shuo somehow panicked and his heart seemed to beat uncontrollably. He said rather frantically, "This guy is a degenerate and has never done anything good in his life. He is not worthy of you. As your friend, I cannot stand by and watch your future being destroyed!"
As he spoke, as if finding an excuse for himself, his tone went from agitated to righteous.
But Donna kept staring at him with her piercing eyes. She just stared intently without saying a word.
For some reason, Han Shuo felt that Donna could see right through him. He dared not look Donna in the eye and avoided her gaze.
After a long, long time, the tip of Donna's lip curved into a half-smile and she said somewhat mockingly, "How righteous of you, Bryan! Really? You killed him for no personal reasons? None at all?"
Han Shuo's mind froze. He suddenly remembered how he felt after killing Larikson's son. It felt liberating and satisfying, as if he knew he had secured something that belonged to him and prevented it from falling into the hands of others. In his subconscious, he had done it all for himself.
""I've read your mind, haven't I?" Donna sneered, "Bryan, you are the most selfish person and everything you do is for yourself. You knew the terrible consequences for me and my Lavers family if he was murdered and yet you went ahead! You didn't do it for me, you did it for yourself!"
"For... for myself...?" Han Shuo muttered and asked, "Why? What would I get?"
"Because I'm your property in your heart! Even if you don't occupy it, you wouldn't let anyone have it!" Donna suddenly stepped forward, grabbed Han Shuo's lapel, and forced Han Shuo to look into her eyes. With a fierce look, she said angrily, "Speak! Are these your thoughts?"
"I... I don't know..." It was the first time Han Shuo had been treated like this by a woman. He was somewhat at a loss and felt as if he had been caught with his pants down.
Suddenly, Han Shuo felt that his demonic infant was kicking and punching erratically, his Skybreak Realm state was destabilising, and even the demonic yuan in his body was becoming disorderly.
Han Shuo was stunned and realised that the whole thing with Donna had unwittingly turned into a mental barrier because he had not been honest with himself. A series of thoughts quickly went through his mind before Han Shuo suddenly gritted his teeth, embraced Donna and confessed, "Yes! These are exactly my thoughts! You are mine and I will not let anyone but myself lay a finger on my woman! I'm selfish and possessive! What are you going to do?"
Tears suddenly filled her eyes. Donna returned the hug with all her strength, burying her face in Han Shuo's expansive chest and began to cry. She had waited for ages to hear those words.
