This henchman of Polo's seemed very uncomfortable. As soon as he left the Ethereal City, he put on a stern face and whistled.
Then a dozen or more shadows flew out of the dense forest around him and surrounded him in an instant.
Polo's henchman then solemnly handed the huge sack to one of them. He said in a heavy voice, "For some reason, I sense that something isn't quite right.
"Lord Kodiak, you are being overly cautious," flattered one of the godhunters. He said smiling, "Shall we return to base immediately?"
Kodiak nodded and replied, "I have left a message in the city. Han Hao will come to us after he receives it. Everyone be extra careful, this body is worth two million black crystal coins. It took a lot of persuasion to get the body from Baum. We cannot afford to make any mistakes.
The Godhunter said with a smile, "I doubt anyone will try to take this soulless body from us."
"Don't be so sure!" Kodiak frowned and suddenly turned to look behind him.
Little Skeleton, or Han Hao, did not hide his form and aura. He had done so deliberately so that Kodiak could sense his presence. Han Hao slowly walked over to the group and threw a large bag of black crystal coins in front of Kodiak. He said, "This is the rest of the black crystal coins. Now give me the Divine Body.
Kodiak breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the person was Han Hao. He saluted Han Hao in the Godhunter etiquette and said with a smile, "Hello, you must have received my message. He then looked down at the bag of black crystal coins at his feet and smiled anxiously. He said, "It is true that the divine body is for you, but my chief has instructed us to return the body to the base. Um, would you mind taking a trip with us?"
Han Hao shook his head, walked straight up to the godhunter carrying McKinley's divine body and took it from him. Then, in an indifferent voice, he said to Kodiak, "Go back. Tell Polo I have the body and you have all the crystal coins. The transaction is complete, here and now."
After finishing these words, Han Hao started to leave with McKinley's divine body without even looking at them.
"Errmmmm..." the godhunter who had been flattering Kodiak made a grimace and asked, "Is this going to be a problem?"
"Let's see if there are enough black crystal coins," Kodiak crouched down and opened the bag under his feet after Han Hao left. After counting for a moment, he put on a faint smile and remarked, "All the crystal coins, indeed. This Han Hao is really straightforward and efficient. Let's go, we'll return to the base and inform Lord Polo. I don't think His Lordship will be angry with us since we're already outside of Ethereal City."
***
In a rocky valley outside Ethereal City, Han Hao set down the huge sack and began to unravel it. After ripping away layers of animal skin, a crystal coffin was revealed. It contained a person who appeared to be in a deep sleep. However, the body has no soul.
"This special coffin has preserved McKinley's body and kept it in an active and functional state. How considerate of Baum," Han Shuo said smiling as he placed his hand on the crystal coffin. After a moment of concentration and sensing, he continued, "Baum has placed a unique tracer on it. Luckily, we are not in Ethereal City. Otherwise he would be able to sense it if we put a finger on the coffin.
As Han Shuo spoke, he inserted a stream of demonic yuan into the crystal coffin. A dark string began to move around McKinley's divine body, slowly eating away the tracer that Baum had left on McKinley.
After a while, Han Shuo withdrew his hand. He pulled out the Holy Grail that contained McKinley's divine soul.
"I... I can... I can feel it... After thousands and thousands of years, finally... finally I can feel myself again..." an intense fluctuation came from the Grail before Han Shuo could even speak. McKinley could not be more emotional at this moment. The Holy Grail that housed his soul began to glow brightly.
The divine body in the crystal coffin was his. It was only natural that McKinley could instantly sense his own body from such a short distance. He was so excited that he spoke incoherently. It was easy to see why McKinley would be so excited to have his body back after living in the dayless prison for tens of thousands of years.
Then a faint, blurry shadow began to slowly float out of the Holy Grail. Han Shuo had removed the energy in the Grail that had previously imprisoned McKinley's soul. McKinley was able to fly out of the Grail unhindered.
After McKinley's soul had flown out of the Holy Grail, it slowly floated towards the crystal coffin. He merged with the coffin like a drop of water falling into the sea.
Then a violent space-time fluctuation came from the crystal coffin. A faint cracking sound was heard as hairline cracks began to appear on the coffin. A healthy shade of red gradually appeared on McKinley's old and pale body as an aura of life began to emanate from the body.
Inside the crystal coffin was an elderly man with grey-white hair. He had a pair of long white eyebrows that touched his cheeks. Although the man was old, his skin and flesh were not at all loose. In fact, it seemed as firm and strong as that of a young man. As the aura of life returned to the divine body, Han Shuo noticed that the body began to change rapidly.
Gradually, his cheeks became redder and his muscles firmed up as the cracks on the coffin grew larger and denser. His eyes began to roll under his quivering eyelids.
Then, suddenly, McKinley opened his bright, deep eyes. The crystal coffin shattered with a loud bang.
McKinley stretched out his body and moved his arms, legs and head around excitedly. He involuntarily shouted, "Ohhhhh yeahhh! I'm back! I'm back at last! Baum, Gyál, better watch out, I'm coming for you! Wahahaha!"
Han Shuo and Little Skeleton stood together as they watched McKinley celebrate his resurrection by screaming and dancing. It wasn't surprising that McKinley was so ecstatic to regain his freedom after being imprisoned for so long. Now that McKinley's divine soul and divine body were reunited, he had regained his full strength. He was no longer a powerless soul to be kicked around, but a proud, powerful Highgod.
A long, long time later, McKinley finally calmed down - somewhat. He laughed heartily as he went to give Han Shuo a big hug. He jumped up and down as he said, "Thank you, thank you, Bryan! I still cannot believe that you actually gave me my body back. How can I ever repay you for your help?"
Han Shuo felt uncomfortable from head to toe being hugged so tightly by a gay old man. He struggled to free himself from McKinley and said smilingly, "Now that you have regained your body, tell me, how are you going to get your revenge? If you want, I can help you kill Baum. We can go to the city right away!"
The position of City Lord of Ethereal City rightfully belonged to McKinley. With Baum dead, McKinley should regain his rightful role. Han Shuo's friendship with McKinley was much deeper than with Baum. If McKinley became the City Lord of Ethereal City, it would be very helpful for his future development.
"I can make space divine devices for you. I'm very good at it. Interplanar transportation matrices, magic mirrors - any divine device you need, I can make it for you!" McKinley promised with a broad smile.
Space divine devices were very rare on Elysium. They could not be forged by the average alchemist. For this reason, the divine devices of the Edict of Space were invaluable. It was not uncommon for a person with an insane amount of Black Crystal Coins to be unable to find a suitable Edict of Space expert to create the divine device they wanted.
McKinley was close to the peak in the cultivation of Edict of Space Energy. He must be a true expert in making space divine devices, otherwise he wouldn't have made that promise to Han Shuo. And it just so happened that Han Shuo could really use those divine devices. Han Shuo could not be happier to hear these words and he replied with a smile, "That would be wonderful!"
"I must make a trip to the Space Shrine and inform the Overgod of my ordeal. As for killing Baum, I can't do that yet. Baum is the current City Lord of Ethereal City. No matter what he has done, I must consult the Overgod before doing anything to him. But once I have His Lordship's permission, I can come back immediately to kill Baum," McKinley said.
Han Shuo understood McKinley's concern. He nodded and replied, "No problem. I'll be at the Celestial Pearl Pharmacy in Ethereal City. You can find me there after you have consulted with the Overgod. The Shrine of the Space Overlord must be in a secret location somewhere in the Space Dominion. It went without saying that McKinley, a recipient of the Divine Seal of the Overlord of Space, would know where it was hidden.
Before leaving, McKinley thanked Han Shuo several times and promised to look for him after he had told the Space Overlord of his ordeal and to reward him with some commonly used Space Divine devices. He seemed rather embarrassed to have to leave so soon. After Han Shuo hastened him several times, McKinley finally said goodbye.
He ripped a rift in space-time, stepped into it and disappeared.
"Father, do you think he will succeed?" Little Skeleton seemed a little sceptical. "Baum has served as the City Lord of Ethereal City for such a long time, and he would have become close to the Overgod.
Would the Overgod believe McKinley's words?"
"Who knows? But McKinley seemed very confident. Maybe he has some tricks up his sleeve," Han Shuo replied after thinking for a moment.
***Two days later.
Han Shuo and Han Hao had returned to Ethereal City. Han Shuo was examining Metal Elite Zombie's condition when he was suddenly shaken - he noticed that the entire Ethereal City seemed to be shaking!
Moments later, Han Shuo received another shock. Through the demon general he had used to monitor Baum, he saw that the entire city lord's mansion had suddenly been enveloped in a violent space-time fluctuation.
The space-time fluctuation carried an unprecedented amount of power. It pulverised the entire mansion in an instant.
"Noooo!!! Spare me! My Overlord!!!" Baum's pathetic scream could be heard from the centre of the mansion.
Several hundred Spatial Edge appeared out of nowhere and sliced into Baum.
He was obliterated in an instant. Not a scream was heard, and not a bit of Baum remained.
A great stab of pain spread through Han Shuo's consciousness. In the next instance, Han Shuo discovered that the demon general he had placed in the mansion had also been destroyed.
The final scene transmitted by the demon general was a mansion that had been razed to the ground. Not a single soul had survived in the City Lord's vast mansion!
