CHAPTER 674: Godhunter

"Oi! Oi! What do you think you're doing?!" Akley was being dragged by his collar, struggling in the air. He seemed mortified.

"Your enemies have arrived. I'm taking you away from them. If we stay here, we will be discovered!" Han Shuo argued.

"So soon? Damn it, they actually chased me all the way to Elysium!" Akley cursed. He stopped struggling when he heard that his enemies had come.

Han Shuo's flying speed increased significantly after Akley calmed down. He travelled to remote regions where there was an unbroken chain of uninhibited mountains. There wasn't a soul to be found.

After flying several hundred miles, Han Shuo casually threw Akley onto the top of a barren hill and said, "We should have shaken them off. You continue to rest!"

Akley had not stopped resting while being dragged through the air by Han Shuo. Thanks to the effectiveness of the rejuvenation pellet, the wounds on his body had begun to scab. Even his face had regained a slightly healthy shade of red.

The Rejuvenation Pellet was very beneficial in healing wounds. As a god cultivating in the Edict of Destruction, Akley had a divine body that could absorb the benefits of the Rejuvenation Pellet to the fullest. As a result, his condition had improved greatly in a short period of time.

"You too, be careful and use this opportunity to regain some energy - keep yourself in your most optimal state. Although this is the first time I've come to Elysium, I believe this world is not so peaceful either. If we were to run into something unexpected, we would have the best chance of survival if we were at our best!" Akley suggested to Han Shuo as he sat down on the barren hill.

After experiencing countless great battles where the difference between life and death was only a hair's breadth away, Han Shuo had long formed this good habit. The moment he landed, his avatar of death flew into the Myriad Demon Cauldron and immediately began to rest.

With the Myriad Demon Cauldron, Han Shuo's two avatars could sink into cultivation at any time. At present, his two avatars were placed in the Myriad Demon Cauldron and would be sent to Han Shuo's demon infant whenever Han Shuo needed to use their energy.

After giving this advice, Akley immediately resumed his recovery and paid no attention to Han Shuo. While Han Shuo's avatars were cultivating in the Myriad Demon Cauldron, he stared blankly into the distance, contemplating his future.

Compared to the Profound Continent, Elysium wasn't just bigger, but the relationships and politics were even more tangled and complicated. The Twelve Overgods had divided the infinite Elysium into twelve dominions, one for each Overgod.

Naturally, no Overgod would allow opposing forces into his dominion. Any discovered intruder would be mercilessly executed.

Gods who cultivated in the energy of Death, Destruction, and Darkness were strictly forbidden to enter the Dominions of the Overgods of Life and Light, and vice versa.

The Dominions of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Thunder were in a rather unstable neutrality. There would often be a mixture of Gods cultivating in different energies, along with a minority of God cultivators of the energy of death, destruction and darkness found in the Dominions. These gods would usually reside around regions with special characteristics. For example, if a region had particularly intense elements of death and darkness, it would attract gods who cultivated in those energies to live there.

The dominions under the Overgod of Fate and the Overgod of Space were open to all gods. The two Overgods were essentially permanently neutral. They had never taken part in any of the fierce conflicts on Elysium, nor had they taken sides.

The twelve Overgods were divided into several factions. The Overgod of Light and Life was a faction. The Overgods of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Thunder could be said to be a gang, but they were the least cohesive faction and the most unstable. The Overgod of Water, for example, had grown closer to the Overgod of Light in recent years, and was slowly drifting away from that group.

The Overgods of Death, Destruction, and Darkness had also formed an alliance, and the result was the Church of Calamity. The Overgod of Darkness had only joined forces with the Overgods of Death and Destruction in recent years. They had threatened the interests of the Overgods of Life and Light by advancing on their own. It was virtually impossible for the two camps to co-exist peacefully. Most of the wars on Elysium involved these two camps.

The Overgod of Space, like most of the cultivators of the Edict of Space, wandered throughout the universe. They were the most dispersed gods on Elysium, and were almost always neutral towards the warring factions. Since they were the only ones who could use interplanar transportation matrices, virtually no power could cause them any trouble.

The Overgod of Destiny was the most mysterious, and usually paid no attention to mundane affairs. It didn't matter if the powerhouses were clashing with each other, or if the entire material plane was on fire, the Overgod of Destiny wouldn't show the slightest concern.

However, if the battle escalated to the point where one faction would not stop until the other was destroyed, the Overgod of Destiny would step in to resolve the conflict. More often than not, these factions would listen to the Overgod of Destiny and reconcile, reaching a truce and perhaps even stopping the conflict altogether.

The reason that all forces would listen to the Overgod of Destiny was that the Overgod of Destiny was said to be the spokesperson for The Creator. His words reflected the Creator's wishes.

Han Shuo had learned this information through every possible channel before coming to Elysium. In this world, where there were all kinds of powerhouses and all kinds of family clans ruling the vast land, without understanding the disputes and the bigger picture, siding with the wrong faction could spell doom.

Because of his enmity with the Church of Light and the Ice Shrine, it was essentially impossible for Han Shuo to remain neutral. He was a nobody with no authority or influence in Elysium, and to ensure his own safety, he chose to stand in the camp of the Church of Calamity. It was the only sensible thing to do.

Although Han Shuo had long wanted to visit this material plane, now that he was actually standing on the ground of Elysium, he felt rather lost about his future. He had no idea where he would stand on this high-level material plane, where powerful godly experts could be found at every turn, or where he would go.

"You must constantly fight and become stronger. A Demonic Arts Cultivator is never afraid of challenges - he looks forward to them. When you become as powerful as the Exalted Demonlord, you can go anywhere you want. You could even return to your homeworld!" as if sensing Han Shuo's uncertainty about the future, the Cauldron Spirit suddenly began to communicate with Han Shuo's consciousness.

"When I actually reach this stage, everything on my homeworld will have changed completely. Everyone I knew would have died of old age," as Han Shuo thought of Earth, he was reminded of his parents. His heart suddenly ached with grief.

The Cauldron Spirit fell silent.

After a long time, while Han Shuo was still immersed in heartache, the Cauldron Spirit suddenly communicated, "People are approaching. Decent strength. Do you wish to flee?"

Han Shuo immediately came to his senses. After clearing his mind of all confused thoughts, he instructed, "Send a mystical demon. I will decide after assessing the situation!"

"Alright!" The Cauldron Spirit sent a formless, disembodied mystical demon towards the approaching group.

The mystical demons refined by the Cauldron Spirit were made from the souls of Lowgods or Midgods. Han Shuo had long experienced the power of the mystical demons, and he knew that the ones refined by the Cauldron Spirit were far more brave than the spirit demons he meticulously refined. The disembodied mystical demons had practically no life signature when they weren't attacking. Without extremely powerful strength, it would be almost impossible to detect the presence of the mystical demons.

A mystical demon flew quickly towards its target. Being immaterial, the Mystical Demon wasn't affected by gravity and could fly at high speed. It took the mystical demon only a few moments to reach its destination.

He saw an eerie-looking old woman with grey hair and a body that looked like a dried corpse. She laughed eerily in a low voice as she spun and shot death rays in all directions.

Ahead of the old woman was a group of five. They looked terrified and fled in five different directions.

The old woman cultivated the elemental energy of death. She appeared to be a midgod. All five of those fleeing in confusion were Lowgods. There were three males and two females. Two of them cultivated in the element of death, two in the element of darkness, and one in the Edict of Destruction.

"Run towards the valley. There is an interplanar transport facility with proper divine guards. As long as we reach the valley, this Godhunter will surely retreat!" a woman cultivating in the Element of Darkness shouted to the two middle-aged men cultivating in the Element of Death.

A Godhunter! Han Shuo was shocked. He had not expected to encounter a notorious Godhunter so soon after arriving in Elysium.

A godhunter was a god who hunted down and killed other gods who cultivated in the same energy in order to increase their own divine energy.

A god could absorb the divine energy of another god as long as they were both cultivating in the same elemental energy or edictal power. Those who were tired of long and endless cultivation, or who were too lazy to travel to low level material planes to collect the power of faith, would usually sneak into a remote area to hunt down other gods of weaker strength who were cultivating in the same energy, and absorb their divine energy to quickly increase their own.

No matter which Overgod realm it was, godhunters were despised and harshly dealt with. In each of the twelve Domains, there would be a division of divine guards specifically tasked with hunting the godhunters. Once caught, they would be killed on the spot without trial! In most cases, the Godhunters would not hunt in cities or towns where powerful gods were present. They usually chose to strike in sparsely populated regions where divine guards would have difficulty keeping track of them. They preferred to lay their hands on weaker gods who travelled alone.

These types of beings were willing to take enormous risks to satisfy their greed and thirst for divine energy. Many of those who were new to Elysium might be finished off by a Godhunter before they could truly experience the wonders of this world.

Although there were Divine Guardians to deal with this bunch of madmen, the Divine Guardians were limited in strength and number. They could never completely end the existence of the Godhunters.

Before coming to Elysium, Donna had repeatedly warned Han Shuo about the Godhunters. She had once mentioned that some of these Godhunters possessed extremely brave powers. There were even Godhunters who were high-ranking members of some influential family clans. As long as they were not caught, they would continue to be respected by the public.

The greed and thirst for divine energy could, under the right circumstances, turn an ordinary person into a crazed godhunter. Even your closest friend could become the next God Hunter if you were seriously injured.

As this information flashed through Han Shuo's mind, before he could ponder it carefully, his face froze - he discovered that, for whatever reason, one of the Death Element cultivators was fleeing towards him, while that sinister old woman was chasing after him.
