As Han Shuo climbed to around 800 metres, he suddenly felt as if he had fallen into a new dimension.
Apart from the intense element of darkness, all other elements were nowhere to be found. In this new region of space, the pure element of darkness seemed to have the energy to change everything. Even the four edict powers were affected in this region.
The Domain of Divinity! These were the effects of the Domain of Divinity!
Only those with the power of a lower god or higher could use a Domain of Divinity. For example, within the Domain of Divinity that this Demon King Manticole had used, all that was left was the pure element of darkness. Experts who relied on the presence of elemental energy would have nothing to feed on when they entered his Domain of Divinity. They were no different to a tiger without claws or teeth.
Only true gods with divine power in their bodies could stop relying on elemental energy altogether. However, even for gods who possessed divine energy, without elemental energy, they would still be at a great disadvantage when fighting within an enemy's Domain of Divinity.
When two experts who were both in a Domain of Divinity came into conflict, they would form an area of space around themselves that was beneficial to them. In close combat, their Domains of Divinity would interact with each other, and the domains would ruthlessly gather the elements that the caster had cultivated within. The one with the more powerful Domain of Divinity would find their Element in that space with greater intensity.
Divine Power, Domain of Divinity, their understanding of their elemental energies or edict powers, and the strength of their bodies would all be crucial factors in determining the victor in a battle between two gods. Restoring divine power would usually require the use of the elements. The one with the stronger Domain of Divinity would have more elements at their disposal, and therefore would be better able to recover with the excess of elements available to them, thus gaining the upper hand in a battle.
In short, the presence of Domain of Divinity was not only extremely useful to a god, but it would also give that god the advantage in a battle. Of course, Domain of Divinity wasn't the only factor that determined the outcome of a battle between gods. Their knowledge and understanding of how to manipulate their elements or edicts, the strength of their divine energy, the strength of their body; these were all crucial factors as well. However, if both sides were basically on the same level in these aspects, then the one with the more powerful Domain of Divinity would naturally have a greater chance of winning.
Furthermore, the presence of the Domain of Divinity had the ability to send shockwave to the human heart. Even a basegod who had not truly formed his own divine power would, upon entering a lowgod's domain of divinity, immediately notice that the elements around him had disappeared. They would have no elements to use. With no divine power in their bodies, if they were attacked, they would have no power to resist and would just stand there and wait to be slaughtered.
When Han Shuo entered the domain of divinity unleashed by Demon King Manticole, he discovered that Bord was sweating profusely while showing unconcealed fear. Han Shuo understood why at a glance. Although Bord, a basegod cultivating in the element of lightning, could be considered an overlord anywhere else, once he stepped into this Domain of Divinity, he was nothing more than a peasant. Without the ability to harness the elemental energy of lightning, he had no ability to resist.
Anyone accustomed to powerful energy would feel a similar fear and sense of powerlessness, as if the weight of the world were upon them, if they lost the energy they depended on for survival. Whenever Bord came to the top of the demon king's palace to meet the demon king Manticole, he was transformed into an unarmed and defenceless commoner. If Manticole so wished, within his domain of divinity, he could finish Bord off in an instant with the twitch of a finger.
Compared to Bord's sweaty, cowardly appearance, Han Shuo appeared much more unruffled. Han Shuo's main body, which cultivated in the demonic arts, had the energy source stored in the demonic infant within his body. This Domain of Divinity didn't have much effect on Han Shuo, a cultivator of the demonic arts. If Han Shuo wanted to, he could escape from this Domain of Divinity in no time.
But Han Shuo wasn't completely immune to its effects. His two avatars, who cultivated in two of the twelve fundamental powers, were affected by this Domain of Divinity. Among them, the avatar cultivating in the element of death received the greatest effect. In this domain of divinity without the element of death, the avatar would be as weak as Bord.
As for the Avatar cultivating in the Edict of Destruction, due to the unique circumstances of its formation, it would only receive a limited effect. Even though the Edict of Destruction was slightly modified in this Manticole's Domain of Divinity, since this avatar of Han Shuo hadn't delved into the Edict of Destruction much to begin with, and since the body of the avatar was the Demonslayer's Edge, with most of the power coming from the Demonslayer's Edge itself, the effects were limited.
Although Han Shuo seemed very passive within Manticole's Domain of Divinity, that wasn't actually the case. If Han Shuo wanted to, he could use his demonic arts to leave this region at high speed. After leaving the Domain of Divinity, his two avatars would not have the slightest effect. If Han Shuo's three souls attacked at the same time, with his two avatars attacking from a distance, the power unleashed would be unforgiving.
The Domain of Divinity would vary in its power and area of coverage according to the god's rank and strength. This Domain of Divinity used by Manticole only covered a radius of about a dozen metres. Based on the standard Han Shuo knew, he guessed that this Manticole was only a lowgod.
A lowgod's domain of divinity could only extend so far around their body. A midgod could extend ten times as far, while a highgod could extend even further. Their Domain of Divinity would normally extend for thousands of metres. Needless to say, an Overgod could cover far more than necessary. According to legend, an Overgod's Domain of Divinity could reach every corner of a material plane!
"Mister Han Shuo is indeed a magical person. Please come up alone," a soft voice called from the top of the Demon King's Palace.
Bord, who had been in great fear, suddenly heaved a sigh of relief. In a most respectful manner, he said, "Your humble servant will dismiss himself!"
"Yes, you may go. Make sure you receive Mr Han Shuo's friends properly. They are not to be treated with neglect," Manticole's mild voice sounded again.
"Yes, my lord," Bord replied. He gave Han Shuo an affectionate smile and quickly left the area covered by the Domain of Divinity. Inside Manticole's Domain of Divinity, without the energy he was accustomed to, Bord felt like a newborn baby, and his heart always felt uneasy. When Manticole said those words, it was as if he had been pardoned, and he immediately left the area.
As Bord left, Han Shuo smiled faintly and walked calmly, step by step, up the black stone stairs to the top of the Demon King's Palace.
It was an empty and spacious stone room. In the centre of the room, a middle-aged man sat cross-legged. He had short hair and an unusual face. He wore a gentle and innocent smile as he curiously looked up and down at Han Shuo as he entered the room.
Han Shuo looked around in a strange way, then turned to the Great Demon King Manticole who was sitting cross-legged in front of him and said smilingly, "Your dwelling is conspicuously plain and undecorated".
"Those who come here do not have the qualifications to sit. Besides, I cultivate and sit here year after year. Why would I install worldly possessions here?" Manticole was much easier to deal with than Han Shuo had imagined. He always had a gentle smile on his face, much like an amiable elder.
However, Han Shuo understood that this was only how he appeared to the outside world. Each and every one of the five Great Demon Kings of the Abyss Realm were despots with blood on their hands. In In this Abyss realm where competition was cruel, if this demon king was truly so gentle in every way, it would be absolutely impossible for Black Jade Guards like Bord and Zinia to respect him. Besides, Han Shuo could sense the hidden ferocity in Manticole's body.
"That is indeed true," Han Shuo smiled after thinking for a while. Han Shuo, who was no saint either and whose hands were no less stained with blood, was not at all reserved in front of this Manticole.
"I have heard many wonderful things about you.
If I am not mistaken, you are cultivating in the energy of death and destruction as well as an energy I am unfamiliar with. I can sense the aura of these two energies from you. This is really strange. I never thought that someone could cultivate two different energies at the same time. Truly inconceivable!" Manticole exclaimed in admiration as he squinted at Han Shuo.
Virtually every character at the pinnacle of power had specialised and absorbed into one of the eight elemental energies and four edict forces. The universe was incredibly vast. There were also some beings who could split their souls and use other substances as their physical bodies, thus cultivating in two different types of energy at the same time.
However, the souls of these beings weren't as independent as the avatars formed by demonic arts. They often had too many fatal flaws and weaknesses. Most of the time, they couldn't cultivate two things at the same time due to a lack of spiritual energy or a clouded mind. They would get nowhere and never be able to reach the peak of strength.
Therefore, even though there were all kinds of talented characters from different realms, they all cultivated and studied only one type of energy without exception. For an existence like Han Shuo to cultivate three different energies at the same time, one of them being the mysterious demonic arts, was something incredibly rare! The two avatars achieved through the demonic arts were miraculous, allowing Han Shuo's cultivation to break free from the binding of the twelve fundamental forces, while shattering conventional understanding. Although Han Shuo's three souls shared a single, common memory, the integrity of each soul was not compromised. From this perspective, although Han Shuo was only one person, he had the memories and mental abilities of three people, so he wouldn't face the problem of not having enough mental power to cultivate different energies simultaneously; three bodies and three souls, each specialising in one type of energy.
When Manticole noticed that Han Shuo wasn't speaking and showed a thoughtful expression, he waited until Han Shuo turned his gaze to him and said smilingly, "I know you want to leave the Abyss realm. However, the interplanar portal of our Abyss realm is within the Void. The Void is the most terrifying and mysterious place in our material plane. Even we, the Five Great Demon Kings, have to wait for it to open before we can enter carefully and cautiously.
Are you sure you want to enter the Void?"
