Kerry the Slicers day at work

Kerry the Slicer was annoyed. He had just been talked to by Mandar Schion who wanted him to investigate the possibility of there being necromancers within the Derbyshire woods and possibly the abandoned castle Zancrow. He had also stated that he wanted to know if the necromancers had his research subject and to get him back.

Kerry was annoyed as he didn't approve of Mandar Schion experimenting on his fellow human beings regardless of how abnormal they were.Did however have to admit that the fate Mandars research subject would suffer from being with necromancers would possibly be worse then a life time of experimentation.

Kerry the Slicer hoped that the research subject was still alive and okay but not for Mandars sake.Kerry believed in the value of human life and its beauty.

Not to mention he wasn't going to do this for Mandars sake but because getting rid of possible necromancers would inadvertently save more human lives then if he did nothing.

Kerry the Slicer couldn't mobilise his squadron of royal guards or ask for help from other Royal guard captains without confirmation that the necromancers actually existed.

Thus Kerry had the plan to mobilise adventurers from the adventurers guild to guard a trading caravan since they were being constantly attacked and raided recently.

They simply had to survive and bring information of who was attacking the trading caravans back to Kerry so he could have permission to mobilise his forces and ask for help from other squadrons. They didn't even have to successfully guard the trading caravan although that would be a bonus.

Kerry the Slicer saw no flaw in this plan so he left his office in the royal Palace and went to the adventurers guild within the outer ring of Ring City.He had a full list of candidates that would do well against undead. They would be the ones to guard the trading caravan.

Kerry the Slicer heard the conversations going on within the guild.

"What do you think has been attacking the caravans lately?."

"I think it might be goblins or possibly even hobgoblins."

"Nah their to weak to pose a threat to well armed trading caravans I think its orcs and high orcs. They haven't attacked in years and are probably making a comeback."

Kerry the Slicer then saw fit to barge into the conversation with his knowledge.

"The answer is neither I believe the culprit is necromancers and undead."announced Kerry the Slicer to everyone's amazement.

Everyone in the guild turned silent and there was a tense atmosphere. The man standing before them was the low class A royal guard captain known as Kerry the Slicer. The man whose blade was said to be so fast it could cut a monster to pieces before they realised it.There were whispers.

"That's Kerry the Slicer."

"One of the royal guard captains. What's he doing here?."

"I'd heard he slew two assistant clan leaders of the orcs in the last human/orc war."

"That's insane the orcs are known for being really physically strong."

Kerry the Slicer paid these whispers no mind and continued with what he was saying.

"I'll be hiring the services of some of you adventurers today in order to guard a trading caravan and retrieve information. The reward for the task will be 500 gold for every party and solo adventurer. Those of you who are interested stand up."

Every adventurer in the guild immediately stood up.500 gold was enough to last for months for any individual so everyone was tempted regardless of the possible dangers.

"Only the people on my list will be able to participate.I will recite the names on the list and you will follow me to the trading caravan."Kerry the Slicer had a list as he didn't want to hire just anyone to get themselves killed. He recognised that this was a highly dangerous mission.

He then recited the names on the list and watched as the group of adventurers in front of him grew to a short crowd.Kerry only picked individuals that he deemed fit for this task.People who could fight undead and also run away when things got tough. He didn't tell them this of course.

There was a high number of mages and priests with only a few melee combatants who either specialised in combat oriented magic or had specialised items to fight undead and necromancers.

Kerry saw that there were a few names missing from the list. They probably weren't in the guild today or they simply refused as they didn't want to be away from their parties and work with random strangers.

Kerry and the group of adventurers then left the guild and arrived at the trading caravan that was waiting for him. They wanted to depart earlier but Kerry stopped them in order to give them extra guards to which they readily agreed. The times were turbulent so extra guards and protection was a welcome addition.
