001. Decimus Luto

In this world ruled by swords, and sorcery, Humans live to the west on the Archelaus Continent, and to the east monsters and demons live on the Asuran Continent.

From a completely separate continent, there is an opportunity for a demon lord to be born, a path toward ruling the world, and there is one specific contestant to walk in this path.

"A human child?" A demonic voice ponders.

"Are you sure this child is human? He has a mana Inscription on him and it says "DECIMUS LUTO" In the demonic language, that must be his name.

"He has an abundance of mana! His talent seems to be extraordinary, I have an Idea."

"Send him to the Selection Grounds, but keep him for two years first, there's no way a three-year-old human child could survive."

"Yes, Lord Beelzebub." a demonic servant responds.

Decimus lived in a nursery in the Asuran Kingdom til he turned five years old.

The day that he turned five he was taken to a secluded place called "The Selection Grounds" These selection grounds were used to filter out weak demons and cultivate demonic creatures to become strong so they can enroll in the Demon Lord's Army.

Decimus was placed into the first test of the Selection Grounds, which was a test of demonic aptitude, demonic creatures consume people and other creatures to get stronger, as long as you absorb the creature and have enough strength to escape the room you pass.

Decimus woke up in the room sitting against the wall.

'Where am I, It's so dark, Did the test start already?

This was the child's first thought after he had awoken.

A glowing black and red window appeared in front of him amidst the darkness.

"Using Observe (C)" Stated the system.

- (C) Observe, allows seeing information on any person or monster's name, age, stats, and more depending on skill rank.

'What are these windows saying? Strength, Agility, Stamina, Luck, Mana, and Insight, this seems quite unusual, the mana has a question mark by it and my insight is 10 times bigger than the other stats.

'Also these skills, Absorb, Perseverance, Mana Aptitude, and Observe, it seems like that skill Observe allowed me to see these windows, according to the talking window at least.'

As soon as Decimus finished looking over the windows, A blue-flame torch lit up, and a corpse of an adult male.

The corpse was of a half-human, half-demon-looking man, he had humanoid features with demon horns and other monster-like characteristics.

As Decimus approached it a window appeared glowing.

Decimus sat there in the room next to the flame staring at his status window, after a day of endless hunger, Decimus couldn't take it anymore.

"AAHHH, I'll do it!" Decimus screamed.

Decimus couldn't take the hunger anymore and finally submitted to absorbing the creatures.

The system responded as he took his first bite,
