"Marquis..!" she called him in a low but domineering voice when he was not able to stare at her anymore and shook his head.

"No! That would be enough, your majesty." he said in a confused tone.

He was expecting that she would stop him, plead to him and ask him to think about letting the matter go.

No one had believed her lame excuse and the worsening condition of his daughter had made a lot of rumours.

Was she not afraid at all or did she have no idea what was happening in the society?

He thought of checking the waters.

"I only want this investigation for the sake of you, your majesty. So, I was sure that you would understand my intentions and support them." he said with a flattering smile while his eyes were scrutinising her every reaction like a sharp knife gauging her.

"For me?" she asked with a tilt of her head as if his words were no less than an alien language.
