Boom in the Night

It's now 8:54 PM, back at Colby's house. The boys are huddled again around the Ouija board, saying their goodbyes.

"Goodbye spirit, we had fun talking to you again. Too bad we can't tomorrow since Isaiah has to head back home tomorrow morning. Overall, I promise this is not our last time talking to each other," Colby says.

He lets go of the planchette. Isaiah follows suit.

"I had fun with you Isaiah, hopefully you did too," he says.

"Believe me, I did. I'm just relieved that I didn't have to go home because of my neck. I think that medicine really worked for me," Isaiah responds.

Seconds later, the boys both yawn out of exhaustion.

"Well, I guess it's time for bed, I'm just going to use the bathroom real quick. You need to go?" Colby asks.

                                  "Nope, I'm good," Isaiah answers.

"Okay, I'll be back," Colby says.

Isaiah nods his head. As Colby leaves the room, he cracks the door behind him. There is only a line of light shooting into the room. As Isaiah waits for him, he pulls out his tablet from his backpack. He has been waiting all day to use it, but the planchette catches his eye when he turns it on. Isaiah stares at it, intrigued by the planchette mirror. He puts his tablet down and picks up the planchette instead. Isaiah then looks closely and scans the room while looking inside the planchette mirror. Suddenly, he noticed a strange shadow that vanished quickly. He gasps while setting the planchette down, away from his face.

He spins around, scanning the room. When he picks up the planchette again, he brings it to his eye. He notices a shadow again that quickly vanishes. He gasps again, nearly dropping the planchette. As he sets it down, the shadowy figure traipses across his vision again. This force throws him across the room into the wall. Isaiah slowly rises from the pain with tears in his eyes, looking around the room, afraid. The pain in his neck is more intense and painful than before. He holds his neck again as tears roll down his face. With the loud boom getting Colby's attention, he quickly returns to the room.

"What was that noise?" Colby says while turning on his bedroom light.

He notices Isaiah with tears in his eyes. Colby rushes over to comfort him.

"Isaiah, what's the matter? Why are you crying?" Colby asks him.

Isaiah doesn't say anything, and he continues to breathe heavily.

"Bro, you're starting to freak me out, what happened?" He asks worriedly.

Moments later, Elle enters the room.

                                   "What's going on?!" she exclaims.

She notices Isaiah with tears in his eyes, then notices the Ouija Board. She walks toward the game and then picks it up. Colby rises up quickly to see his mom with the board.

                                   "What's this?" She asks furiously.

Colby has a lost look on his face, wondering what to say next. He glances at Isaiah, who is still on the floor in tears. The boys look at each other, and then Colby looks back at his mom, who is still waiting for an answer.

"Umm," Colby says, still trying to process what he will say.

Just as Colby is about to say something else, Isaiah interrupts by moaning about his neck. She notices him holding his neck in pain. She walks towards him and kneels to his level with the board game still in her hand.

"Isaiah, I told you to tell me if it gets worse," She says.

Isaiah remains silent. He was more focused on the pain in his neck. He groans again, rubbing it this time. Seconds later, Elle rises, facing Colby.

"That's it, I'm putting this game away; Isaiah, pack up your things; I'm calling your mom and taking you home," She demands.

                                   "What!?" Colby says.

"I don't want to hear anything from you, especially!" she shouts at Colby.

"While I drop him off, I'll figure out how I'm going to deal with you, but for now you're staying in this room until I get back," She says furiously.

Elle closes the door and stomps down the hall, her anger weighing heavily on her footsteps.

"Bro, you still didn't tell me what happened. What was that big bang?" Colby asked.

"You wouldn't believe me," Isaiah responds, packing his things.

Colby now looks confused, wondering what happened while he was gone.
