Chapter 17: Stranded in Arctic Waters
All sorts of selfish thoughts were bubbling up in Ransom’s mind. He could feel them clawing their way across his tongue, desperate to see the fresh light of day. But he couldn’t let them out. He couldn’t tell Leena that he was wonderstruck by her. He couldn’t tell her that he wished they’d met some other way so that it wouldn’t be wrong to ask her out on a date or admit that he wanted to know more about her. He couldn’t tell her she was beautiful and feisty and he wanted to see some more of that.
That would be wrong, right? Especially after he’d essentially held her hostage overnight and then found out from a call from Detective Alvarado that her fiance was trying to file a missing person’s report on her.
It would be wrong to want her, but he did.
