[Warning! Graphic depictions of violence] During his life on Earth, meteorologist Wang Feng was a well-respected member of the scientific community. Especially his papers on chaos theory managed to push people's understanding of the subject further than ever. At the age of 85, he died surrounded by loved ones. However, death was not an end for him. Here comes the thrilling tale of Wang Feng the diviner! What to expect: -Factions -Political struggles -A cultivation world that's economically active -Multiple points of view.
Wang Feng didn't know whether feng-shui was a real thing or not, so he decided to divine the best place to put this cool wing. To his surprise, the auspicious karmic thread went outside of his abode. He followed where the thread was leading him. The Karmic thread went through a certain spot at the top of the sect's dome barrier. Using sticky gecko art, he climbed up to the spot the Karmic tie went through the barrier. Using contortionist fighting art, he went through the really small hole within the barrier and continued following the thread.
Wang Feng walked and walked. Through dust-filled roads, bogs, and marshes. In a hidden cove, the karmic thread disappeared into nothingness. He awkwardly pulled the wing and pushed it towards the point where the Karmic thread was cut off. The wing's tip disappeared in the same spot. Wang Feng threw a stone at the spot, but it disappeared too. "Fascinating!" Wang Feng exclaimed. "It's a rift in space!" He stepped into the spatial rift. Inside, there was a long platform leading to a gaudy-looking platform, on which there was a book. The karmic thread ended right before the gaudy-looking platform. Wang Feng placed the wing at the exact spot where the Karmic thread ended.
He was excited. This was a fascinating place!
Meanwhile, the owner of the hidden realm was watching.
"What is this junior doing? He just left a wing there and turned back."
Wang Feng started to climb the wall, then he squeezed himself through a small opening.
"What the... where is he going?"
Wang Feng ended up in front of a locked door. He twisted twenty-five odd knobs.
"Why is he near my room? How does he know my passcode?"
Wang Feng followed the instructions of the auspicious karmic string. He bypassed all the gold and riches and found himself in front of the bookshelf. He took the books called "Materials and Properties", "One Thousand and One Ways of Refinement", "Soul Refining Forbidden Art", and "Natural and Manmade Formations". Wang Feng then left the way he came, returned to the sect, and lay in his bed in his cave abode.
The Five Wings Demon Venerable felt his own unique qi out there. It was outside the Shoushan sect! His sixth wing was there! Is this a trap? What's going on?
The Demon Venerable watched at a distance as Wang Feng walked. Was that damnable Shi Hong nearby? Is this bait? Why wouldn't the Thousand Puppets Venerable kill him directly instead?
To the Demon Venerable's surprise, Wang Feng walked into a spatial rift! This was a hidden realm! One and a half hours later, Wang Feng came out of the rift, made his way back to the Shoushan sect. The Demon Venerable waited for a week. He figured that if there was any ambush, they would have given up by now.
He then entered the hidden realm. Inside, he found a cultivation manual. In front of the manual was his wing, which started levitating and then grafted itself back onto Demon Venerable's back where it belonged. He was glad to have it back, even though it wasn't as good as it used to be. Nevertheless, Demon Luo Geming was pleased to have restored his pride.
His eyes drifted towards the cultivation manual in the distance. The owner of the hidden realm was watching events unfold.
Suddenly, Luo Geming decided to take a risk. After all, fortune favors the bold! As Demon Venerable read the manual, he became more at ease. It had nothing to do with Shi Hong.
All his life, Luo Geming had barely scraped by and often cultivated dangerous and low-quality manuals. Despite the inherent risks, he was positive he could dodge any danger. With a venerable level of cultivation, Luo Geming had acquired a venerable mindset.
"Fortune favors the bold," he reminded himself as he took the manual and left the secret realm as quickly as he could. When he reached the headquarters of the demon cult, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe he was becoming paranoid.
Meanwhile, there was an old monster within the pages of the manual. This monster was none other than the last emperor of the Hou Dynasty, whose throne was usurped by the Yao rebellion. Hou Niu had barely escaped and refined his soul into the cover of a manual, waiting for the opportunity to make a comeback. Several hundred years later, the opportunity had finally presented itself, and he had finally found a sucker to bamboozle.
It was a shame that this particular sucker was a demon cultivator with a tattered body, but there was nothing the great emperor Hou Niu couldn't fix. All he had to do was wait until this demon cultivated the Hou emperor's sutra to a high level.
Meanwhile, within the Shoushan sect, a diligent boy kept up with sermons from all the elders. Day in and day out, for weeks, he didn't miss anything. That diligent boy was Wang Feng.
He had used the sect contribution points to buy classes from every pagoda. With the remaining points, he had employed servants for a year. This was one of the ways outer sect disciples could stay in the inner sect.
However, the particular servants Wang Feng had hired were spies planted by Shi Hong.
He got reports every evening, and every evening things were normal. Way too normal. Thousand Puppets Venerable had a premonition. He asked the spies, "You have been to his abode, right? Did you, by any chance, see a giant dragonfly wing?"
"No, sir," they replied.
Shi Hong quickly searched for the tiny puppet embedded in the wing. The wing was back with the demon venerable. Shi Hong was startled. How did the wing end up back in the hands of the demon?
Shi Hong jumped up from his seat. Within ten seconds, he was in front of Wang Feng's abode.
"Wang Feng, my friend, I heard you settled."
Wang Feng was eating pastries. He quickly rushed to open the door. Like a total uncultured swine, without swallowing what he was chewing, he yelled, "Wang Feng meets sect master!" Shi Hong pushed his anger down and smiled. "At ease, at ease. Say, Wang Feng, why don't you give your sect master a house tour?"
Wang Feng was overjoyed. The sect master was friendly with him.
"This is my cool sword. I went to the refinement hall to request a sword that looks super cool. Elder Jin Fang and I had a lot of fun making it."
"This is my wardrobe. A man has to pay attention to his looks."
"This is my bed. Nothing special about it."
"These half a dozen spiritual rats are the test subjects that I try things on."
Shi Hong was getting more pissed off by the second.
"Say, Wang Feng, where did you put the 'cool' wing I gifted you?"
Wang Feng smiled.
"Funny story, I wasn't sure if Feng shui was a real thing, so I divined where best to put the wing."
Shi Hong was confused.
"What's Feng shui?"
Wang Feng explained.
"It's the practice of arranging your furniture right so your living space becomes auspicious."
Shi Hong was dumbfounded.
"You would make a formation out of your living environment? Are you crazy?"
Wang Feng continued. "Divination results pointed outside the door. So I followed the divination outside my door. There was a hole in the sect barrier. I went through that."
Shi Hong was stressed out.
"There is a hole in the sect barrier?"
Wang Feng walked out of the abode and pointed his finger.
"Right over there at that spot."
Shi Hong blasted the spot with a light qi attack. Some of the spiritual qi went through the barrier. Wang Feng was right.
"According to divination, I left the wing in the middle of nowhere. Sect master, that wing was not simple. It's better if we got rid of it."
"Yes, thank you, Wang Feng. But you can't leave the sect whenever you want."
Wang Feng disagreed.
"No, sect master. I CAN leave the sect whenever I want. I am a disciple, not a prisoner."
Shi Hong's eyes were listless. This boy was not under his control at all.
"No, for your safety…"
Wang Feng interrupted. Such interruption didn't give the sect master any face at all.
"Sect master, did you forget? I can divine my way out of tricky situations."
That "tricky situation" included the one the sect master tried to put Wang Feng in. He wanted to create an enemy for Wang Feng and then swoop in to protect him.
In this exchange of schemes, Shi Hong was totally defeated.
He gave Wang Feng another thousand contribution points for spotting the weakness of the sect's protection array.
The idea of Wang Feng buying "cool" things with his victory over him churned Shi Hong's stomach. Buying "cool" things Wang Feng did. His abode was now a certified man cave.
He was guaranteed to make other sect boys jealous.
Back in the People's Republic of China, Wang Feng was raised by strict parents. This time, he would live his childhood to the fullest. He even refined a skateboard.
