What happened here? I was only gone for two days. Did a war take place?
While I was thinking about all this, I heard Ayuri say behind me that there was no one here within fifty meters.
I asked her how she knew that, and she replied that she can sense anything with her horns that has electricity, including the human brain.
Well, that's a useful ability.
I looked around and saw a person standing near a destroyed building without doing anything.
"Are you sure your ability works? There's a person standing right there."
{Humph, there is nothing wrong with my ability. Unless...}
I did not hear what she said because I had already gone to that person to ask what had happened.
I walked up to him and said, "Um, hello, could you tell me what happened here?"
He did not say a word. I put my hand on his shoulder and said, "Hey, can you hear me?"
He slowly turned his head toward me. But he did not turn his body with it, only his head had turned one hundred and eighty degrees.
Half his face was fleshless and the only thing you could see was his skull and the other half was like a normal person's, except his eye was pitch black.
I took a step back, but he charged at me while twisting his arms to catch me.
He flung me to the ground and tried to bite my head while he was on top of me. I tried to fight back by keeping him away from me, but for some reason, even with my current strength, I could not effectively hold him back.
At this point, he was almost this close to biting me Ayuri came at me and kicked him against the wall of the building on my left. The wall was shattered and he fell to the floor without moving.
What the hell was that thing? And what is it about Ayuri's power? She's much stronger than me.
{How long are you going to stay lying there?}
I stood up and carefully walked towards the thing. I took a metal rod from the rubble of the building next to me and shook the thing to see if it was still alive.
To my great surprise, it was. So as soon as it moved a little, I pierced its skull with the iron rod.
The whole scene looked like something out of a movie about a zombie outbreak. Maybe this thing is actually a zombie? I mean, I kind of am.
"But are not zombies supposed to die when you hit them on the head? So why is this guy still alive and moving?" said I, looking at the zombie in front of me who was trying to catch me with his arms.
{What are you talking about? Of course it's a zombie}
"How do you know that? Have you ever seen one before?"
{I have seen a lot of zombie movies in my world}.
"Are not you supposed to be an ancient beast lurking under the city? How come you have seen movies?"
{You do not know me well enough. And I never claimed to have been in those mines all along}.
"Hmm, I see. So how can we kill it?"
{Hmm, let me try something} she said and walked closer to the zombie.
With one powerful kick, she hit it in the heart and it stopped moving.
But why is that? Do zombies have to die with a blow to the head? Why did this one die by a blow to the heart? Strange.
"How did you know that you had to hit him there?"
{It's common knowledge that you have to crush a zombie's heart to kill it}.
"For us, it's the head, not the heart. Anyway, once they are killed, everything works."
I moved closer to the zombie, opened its skull and started looking inside its brain.
{What are you doing?}
"I want to see if there really are these evolutionary materials that are in the novels."
And finally my hand touched something that was not part of the brain. I pulled it out and looked at it.
It was something that looked like a bean, but its texture was slimy and had a purple color.
Does not it mean that those who have purple materials belong to the leader class or something? In my opinion, Ayuri defeated it with ease. But on the other hand, I had trouble holding it back at all.
Oh, what the hell, it's not like anything would happen to me, I am immortal.
{Hey, hey, what are you doing? Are you trying to turn into one of those things?}
"Uh? What are you talking about? I am supposed to get stronger when I eat this."
{Oh, I see. That's another difference between our zombies. For us, if you eat this, you turn into one of them.}
"You do not have to worry about that, I am already sort of a zombie."
I swallowed it and was ready to feel severe pain all over my body, as is common in the novels, but instead absolutely nothing happened. It was as if I had never taken that thing. Weird. I do not feel any different or stronger either.
Maybe I should try hitting something to see if my strength has increased? Eh, why not?
I approached a concrete pillar that was near a destroyed building and hit it with all my strength.
The column split in two and flew against the wall of the building in front of me, tearing a hole in that wall.
Mmm, yes, I think my strength has improved a little.
{Oh, let me try that too.}
She walked in front of a five-story building and hit the wall. The wall shattered and the whole building collapsed before my eyes with a loud noise that could be heard for miles around.
What the hell is with that power. She demolished an entire building. Okay, clearly I can not compete with her just yet.
As we were ready to get out of there, I saw a red dot on my forehead. I looked around and saw a group of people around us. Some of them had weapons in their hands, others were unarmed. All of them were wearing masks that covered half of their faces, so I could not see their identities very well.
Then one of them stepped forward and said, "Who are you? Identify yourself or we will open fire."
From the tone of the voice, I could tell it was a girl. And now that I look at her more closely, she reminds me of Natsumi. But I guess there is no way for her to do something like that, so who are these people?
"We are not your enemies. We were just passing by." said I, looking at their leader.
"So a random passerby demolished an entire building and defeated a leader-class zombie."
So I was right, that was indeed a leader class zombie.
"Um, that's a little complicated..."
Before I could finish my sentence, I heard a loud howl in front of me. The howl was so piercing that blood flow from my ears.
"Great, now you have brought them here with your actions. Now we are all going to die."
"What did we bring here?"
I saw her and her subordinates quickly placing explosives, cannons and machine guns on the ground.
"Tell me, what did we bring?"
She looked at me and said, "Death."
Please tell me your thoughts about my chapters, it would really help me improve and I would like to know what my readers think about my novel.
