A sudden bloodlust

That was really strange. I never thought Yagami would owe anyone money. He certainly looked like someone who was financially stable. That's too strange. I'll wait a little longer to see if anything else happens.

In the end, nothing remarkable happened. Yagami simply stood up, tried to clean the dirt off his clothes, and sat down on a bench.

To be honest, he looked a little depressed. I thought he was the happiest guy I had ever met. But to see him like that now... Something serious must have happened. I guess everyone has their own problems.

But I am not going to just stand here and watch him look so unhappy. I am going to help him any way I can. He supported me in school without asking any questions. Now it's time to return the favour to him.

So I left the bushes and walked towards him. He did not notice my presence at all. He had bent down and was holding his head with both hands. I felt even more sorry for him when I saw him like that.

"Hey Yagami, what are you doing?" I said while touching his back with my right hand.

"Shinji? What are you doing here? I thought you went home."

"Yeah, I was on my way when I saw you sitting here, so I stopped by to say hello."

"A-ah I see."

"What are you doing here at this hour?"

"I.. um, I went for a walk in the park. You know, after school it's nice to walk a little." He said as he put a smile on his face.

I could tell from a distance that this smile was not genuine. But why does not he tell me what happened to him? Eh, nothing can be done about that. I guess I'll have to force him to tell me.

"Yagami, stop this nonsense. I saw what happened. Are you ready to tell me what's going on now?"

"I guess I can not hide it from you. Then it's time I told you my story."

So he began to tell me everything that had happened to him over the years.

When he was born, his father left him and his mother because he did not want to take responsibility. So his mother was left alone to take care of him. In the beginning, everything was fine. But one day a man came to their home and asked them to sell their house so that a company could build a shopping centre in the area. She refused, because the house was special to her. But that's where the problems began.

Yagami's mother worked at a car dealership, so she could earn enough money for them both. But when they rejected the man's proposal, he went to Yagami's mother's workplace and started causing chaos. So the boss fired Yagami's mother. And that's not the end of the story. After a while, she got sick, but they could not afford the medicine, so Yagami was forced to take a part-time job as a waiter in a restaurant. But the money still was not enough. They also had to pay for the rent of the house. And for some unknown reason, the contract for the house now belonged to that company. So they increased the rent in hopes of getting the house in their hands.

"Aah, now you know my story. I understand if you do not want to be friends with me now. I do not want you to get involved in something that's none of your business."

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about? There's no way I would stop being friends with you because of something like this. Everyone has their own problems. You did not neglect me in school. How am I supposed to let you down now?"

"Ha, thanks, man. That means a lot to me. But there's nothing we can do about that. So just forget about it."

"Who says there's nothing we can do? Give me a day and you'll see something spectacular."

"Huh? Do not do anything risky. It's not worth it."

"Do not worry about it. Have faith in me. I'll make them pay for what they do."

"All right, but do not overdo it."

"I have everything under control. Do not worry about it."

"All right. If you say so. I trust you."

"Good, then I am going to prepare for...prepare for something. I'll see you tomorrow. I'll have a surprise for you."

"Okay, see you then."

We shook hands and I headed back to my place.

On the way there, I thought about what I could do. Some of my ideas were to bankrupt the company by hacking their bank account, but then a lot of people who did nothing wrong would be out of a job. Another option would be to hack into their archives and see if there was anything suspicious about their transactions or find other victims to charge. But I do not think anyone would be willing to go against a big company. So I guess I'll go with Plan B and hope I find something interesting.

So I went straight home. When I entered, I greeted my mother, who I could clearly see was concerned about my sudden change in mood. I went into my room, sat down on the chair and opened my PC.

"Alright, let us get started."

I looked up to find more information about the company. It seems to be a well-known company that builds high-tech houses, shopping malls, stores, etc. But why are they so intent on buying Yagami's house? It does not make any sense. There are much better areas to build a mall. The only reason they like this area is because it's away from the city centre. But that does not make sense. The city's services are too far away.

"Hey Shinji, need some help?"

I saw Ruby pop up in the left corner of the screen, cheerful as ever.

"Ah yes, can you hack into this company's files and see if there's anything suspicious?"

"That will take some time, but I will do it for you." She said with a smile, gently beating her chest. I still do not understand why she is so proud every time that she will do something better than me.

"Thanks for the help."

As Ruby began her research, she disappeared from the screen and went to that company's computers. Well, I think I am going to help her a little bit.

So I bypassed all the anti-virus and security systems to help her get started. Well, I can not say I helped much. For me, it was a piece of cake. Now it's her turn to scan all the files on the company's computers.

And you know what? I have already bypassed all the obstacles, so why not check the president's computer to see what I find.

I found the transaction file with ease. I mean, who puts such a bad antivirus programme in an important folder.

Ok, so it all looks pretty normal. Maybe I was wrong? No, they would not make such a fuss for nothing. I'll keep looking.

And my search was not in vain. I found something really suspicious. There was a transaction from an unknown person to the company. And the amount of money was not small. It was a million. God, I would never see that kind of money again in my entire life.

Wait. The symbol next to the name, I am sure I have seen it before.

Where was it? Hm.

Oh, yes, I remember. There was a man who had the same symbol as a tattoo. I saw him when the police arrested him for child trafficking. What the hell?

Why is this company taking money from this person? Or maybe it's a whole organisation? Yeah, if I remember correctly, he never said who he was working for. And when they tried to interrogate him, he committed suicide. Well, the TV is really useful sometimes.

In one of the folders there is a video with the same date that the police arrested this man. I hope that it is not what I think it is.

I clicked on the video to open it.

The video shows a muscular man holding the camera and saying. "Mr. President, here is your assignment. Ten boys and ten girls. As we agreed. Do not worry, they are of the highest quality." Then the man took a little girl from her arms and showed her to the camera. The little girl started crying and begged to see her mother. The man yelled at her to stop, but the girl cried even more. Then the man threw her behind him into what looked like a cage. The little girl hit her head on a stone and began to bleed. But instead of helping her, the man said. "I guess this one is broken. But do not worry, President, I'll find you a new one much better than this one. Meet me at the known location to complete the transaction."

And that was the end of the video.

I was shocked by what I had seen. But most of all, I was seething with anger. I wanted to punish these people so badly that I forgot how bad I felt when I killed someone. All I wanted at that moment was to kill them. By any means necessary. And not just kill them, but torture them.

My mind went blank. I could no longer think clearly. All I wanted at that moment was to kill. And it was not just the feeling. I had the desire to kill. I wanted to kill.

Sh*t, I have got to get a grip on myself. There was no way I was going to kill another human being.

Damn, what's wrong with me? Why can not I concentrate?

Thank God Ruby came back from her research that time and electrocuted my smartwatch. It hurt a lot, but at least I was back to my old self. My urge to kill stopped and I could finally think clearly again. What the heck was that? That's the first time something like that has ever happened to me.

It was certainly scary as hell. I do not want to experience something like that again in my life.

"Shinji, are you okay?"

"Yes, yes, I am fine now. Thanks for the electric shock."

"What happened?"

"Nothing, nothing, do not worry about it. Did you find anything?"

"Yes, I found a lot of evidence that points to child trafficking. And it looks like they want to build a shopping mall in this place to serve as a bait for child trafficking, because this is the area where they do business. And also, the police can not arrive that quickly, so they have a lot of time to escape."

I leaned on my bed and waited to fall asleep. I still could not get what had happened out of my mind. Why did I have those thoughts? This isn't something a normal boy at my age would think about. What the hell is going on with me?
