Jesseree wrapped the scarf around her face, attempting to conceal the burns she had sustained during the war a few years ago. Despite the treaty, Jesseree and her children continued to suffer due to the lack of food and, lately, jobs.
Darkholme had been very chaotic in the past few weeks because of the death of their mayor. The civil war caused many entrepreneurs to leave the city, resulting in numerous job losses.
Today, Jesseree decided to go to the nearby forest, hoping to find something they could eat.
At this point, Jesseree was no longer particular about their food. She and her two children would eat anything as long as it filled their stomachs. Jesseree had already considered moving out of the city, but her options for earning money were limited.
When her husband died years ago, she was left with one blind child. Due to their needs, she couldn't save much money for times like this.
