Ch 9: The library and jobs

Before Euclid had realized it, he was transported from infront of the tower to the inside of a colosseum standing with a few other individuals, both humans and other bipedal sentient creatures; such as a green giant lizard standing with leather armor with a Scimitar at its waist, and a human with long ears and a bow on its back.

Even more confused than before, Euclid decided to ask a question before he was given another statement from the tower.

[Welcome to the Tower of Eternitys, floor Zero. This is the starting point to going up the tower as well as being the floor where the most major races gather, this location in particular house's most guilds, clans, a large amount of stores and a market for buying and selling goods as well as being the place where many major locations are.

As you are currently occupying the tower; you have access to the status panel, the status panel shows your Name, race, aptitude, talents, vitality, Mana, strength, durability, stamina, specialitys, guilds, clans and a way to contact others, just say 'status' and yours will be revealed to you.

As a reward for coming to the tower for the first time you are also rewarded 10 silver to get you started on your journey going up the tower.

The final peace of information is how to start your climb up the tower, to start the the 1st floor; you just have to say 'I want to go to the 1st floor' and you will have the options for that trial be shown for you to select before you begin, Good luck Challenger!!]

As Euclid heard the words from the tower, a small leather pouch appered near him; before he grabbed it hearing the clash of metal; he assumed it was the currency before he put it in his pocket for later

He then took a second the memorize everything the tower stated, then comprehended it a second later, he also noticed somethings, like it never stated a way to leave the tower as a whole, also it seems like most people are born inside the tower since it wouldn't make sense and it would be a waste of resources to give every single being inside the tower to get currency for just being here, as well as the tower being being divided, not just like floors being divided, but the society was divided into probably hundreds or thousands of different groups; meaning the political, social and economic structure would be very complicated to work with, even more than so than humanitys would be.

"I should first see my own status panel to see how I'm categorized, then I'll go from there"

As Euclid quietly mumbled to himself he opened his own status panel

As Euclid was reading the status, he was both confused and in awe as this advanced tower system could barely understand anything but could still gain some understanding of him without him knowing how, though this status was interesting; it didn't seem to help him in the slightest right now.

"Since this system is no use to me right now; I should leave this colosseum before more people show and cause any trouble, my first destination should be to find a map, then I'll try to find a new source of information, a library would be preferable."

As Euclid finished talking to himself; he walked though the tunnel that he assumed led outside, he then came outside to what appeared to be an open plaza but as soon as he steped out of the colosseum; he noticed hundreds of people walking around, which surprisesed him with how many different sentient life there was around so he decided to talk to one of them to get some information.

Walking up to a minatar like man, ironically with a battle axe standing at more than 7 feet tall made of pure muscles looked just like the creature from mythology.

"Excuse me sir, do you know where a library might be located?"

Euclid questioned but only got a snort and stare in respawns as the minatar continued walking away.

Choosing someone else, he advanced towards a woman with a pair of horns and wings before asking the same question.

"I'm in a hurry pipsqueak, talk to someone else"

Although the woman replied, she seemed more worried and in a hurry, and just like the minatar, the demon like woman also turned him away before hurrying off.

'Based on the way the minatar behaved I'm inclined to believe that minatars typically act that way, and the demon woman seemed to be involved some kind of trouble, so I don't think the people of this city are all this distant, so I think it's either they were more of a coincidence, or there's a conflict of some kind which would divide the people of this world, after all; master years hear I would think most intelligent life would eventually get along. Anyways I'll ask a human for directions this time instead, hopefully the outcome might be different'

Finding a human pretty quickly, he made his way over to him before stopping to ask the same question again, luckily things paned out differently this time.

"A library? Hmmm, yeah if you go down that main street for a couple of blocks then take a left and continue on; you should find it , anyway have a good day"

"You as well, and thank you for the directions!"

As the random human walked away, Euclid also started walking in the direction the human had pointed him out to, as he walked he saw a couple stands around selling fruit, vegetables, trinkets to weapons and armor, he also saw groups trying to wave over people to adventure with them in the tower, after a couple of blocks he turned left on to a street with just as much people on it.

On this street there were an assortment of different guilds like alchemy, merchants, smithing, and noticed other such guilds; until he finally found the library, the library seemed to be the place with the least amount of people going in

Going up to the door and pushing it open he saw only 5 people inside including a librarian, but the actual size of the library was massive with what looked like millions of books around.

Going up to the librarian first to find either a catalog or where the books he might be interested in were.

"Excuse me is there a catalog to find certain books and topics?"

"Before that, have you paid for the library pass for the day it's 50 copper a day?"

"Ah, ok; can you split a silver coin for me?"

Euclid questioned as he took the coin pouch and saw only ten silver coins inside and assumed silver was more valuable than copper.

"Nope, sorry, but we do accept silver coins instead"

"Alright, here you go"

Feeling slightly like he was being robbed, as he was not aware of the conversation rate between copper and silver he could only begrudgingly let the silver coin go.

"Alright here's the pass for the day, and the catalog is at the end of the desk over there."

As she passed the pass over to Euclid, and pointed out the catalog, she turned back around and went back to what she was doing, as she was doing that Euclid walked over to the catalog and started flipping through the pages he memorized and created his own file and for all of this worlds books and topics.

After memorizing the catalog he decided to look at human geography and maps first so he could get around easier, after going around the section that was focused on geography and mapping out land, so he started picking up books up one after the other and memorized every book before moving on to the next, memorizing over 100 books in about 17 minutes by just flipping through the pages and copying the information into his mind.

After memorizing everything Euclid sat down to comprehend all the information which took about the same amount of time as it took to copy it all.

'So this city is into 5 parts, the outer ring or the 5th ring is where most people live at least the people of lower class of the economic pyramid, its also where the market is which sells practically anything you just have to know where to look or be lucky. The 4th ring is where the richest people and small guilds are, you can also find high quality shops like blacksmiths, alchemist, appraiser and other such services making it a very populated ring. The 3rd ring is were big clans, these clans can have hundreds or thousands of people and are incredibly rich in both money and resources, and these clans aren't just big clans on floor zero but are also big guilds throughout the tower and its pretty difficult to become a member of such a guild, they also have their own members that practice an occupation like smithing, and alchemy so most large clans don't source outside their clan. The 2nd ring houses the guilds, which practice a certain topic like the blacksmith guild is where you go if you want to learn and become a blacksmit, take on specific commissions, or advance their own understanding of their trade while hoping to advance up the rank, there were also some clans from the 3rd ring adjoined to some guilds in the 2nd ring depending what the clans focus was. And the last or 1st ring is where the colosseum where people who go down the tower or enter the tower appear from, in the center of the city.'

'And this entire city houses tens millions of people and is bigger than the most giant of citys that were on earth and would take a day to walk across from end-to-end, with a Myriad of races that divide into factions and groups, with the main groups being the demons, beast, elf, dragons, humans, nature races, undead races, giants, titans, monsters, angelic races, Dwarves, and some sea races'

'an addition to the races and city, is each race has a city of their own city on floor zero; where most of that race inhabits which also houses millions of their race, and would be a day away if airplanes existed in this world, anyway now that I have a good geographic understanding of this world I need to find out how I place in this world, of course I'm going to climb the tower to the peak as it may be in interesting experience but at my core is learning and evolving; and many of these occupations can not only help me grow stronger while climbing the tower, but I could also learn a lot more and thus continue to improve myself and my knowledge, and earn more money from those occupations.'

'Along with my other objective learning how to properly attack and defend myself; as I would prefer to not be tackled by anymore creatures even if they couldn't destroy my body. I do have an assortment of martial arts documents in my files, and I do plan to learn and combine them as it would be best to put my durable body to good use; I don't think those will be very useful for at higher levels and eventually something may come to be able to destroy my nanites and body, also although I could probably make the nanites form a mist around me as a weapon that would only work in close range and I'd prefer to keep the nanites instead of me instead and learning combat could be fun and useful in the future'

'For right now though let's check the section on any and all occupations worth my time, energy, and money'

Walking over to the occupations and general information section and this time he's saw even less people than before, but there also happened to be a an old guy in the section.

Walking up to the book shelfs he started picking up books and skimming through book before putting them away and doing it again copying the books information, he also got some weird looks from the old man but just ignored it.

After reading enough books and memorizing the information he found enough occupations though he had to narrow it down from things like anything like grooming, librarian, animal handler, and decided to organize them into regular jobs and special occupations and found lots like alchemy, pill making, smithing, artifact making, puppets and automatons, runes, taming, healing, research, magic chef, dungeon and floor explorer, talisman creater and a few other occupations so Euclid decided to focus on 3 of them for now.
