Chapter 7 - The Hunter is Released

Edward starts to feel groggy and falls on his butt before eventually just completely passing out. Edwards' body begins changing, sounds of bones cracking and skin tearing can be heard. The first and most notable change is his height, which has gone from 6'2" (187cm) to 6'5" (196cm). The second is his hair and eyes, which changed color into a very pale brown, nearly turning white. His hair grew longer as well, going from a shorter hairstyle to a more medium length, reaching his shoulders. A less noticeable but major change was the increase in his stats, with every stat gaining 200 more points, and him gaining 400 unused stats. It takes about 10 minutes for his evolution to complete, and he wakes up feeling rested and full of energy.

[ Congratulations hunter, you have evolved into a high human. Congratulations on the increase of your lifespan ]

'Lifespan? You mean I'll live longer now?'

[ Correct, the age limit for a lesser and greater human is anywhere from 30-100 years and cannot increase past that without either extreme scientific development or evolution ]

[ A High Human's lifespan is anywhere from 100-500 years naturally. Obviously you can still die before that ]

'Am I a god or something?'

[ No, not yet. You're barely average across the universe as far as lifespan ]

'Not the first time I've been called barely average.'

[ That… Is sad ]

'Anyways, when can i get out of the tutorial?'

[ I have stalled the release so you can buy items before you leave. Specifically the ornaum armor ]

'How much was that again?'

[ 500 points ]

'I don't know if that's worth fifty levels of points.'

[ It is. Keep in mind the fact that your shield was able to block a dragons breath, which is known for being able to melt pure mithril ]

'Based on fantasy novels, that must be really high quality.'

[ Correct. It was not originally known as mithril, however we changed its name to be better suited for your people ]

'Fair enough. I guess I'll buy it.'

[ What color would you like it in? ]

'What colors are available?'

[ Any color ]

'So i could get it in pink?'

[ Buying pink ornaum armor ]

'NO NO I WANT IT BLACK WITH GOLD TRIM'

[ Good. Ordering black Ornaum plate armor with gold trim ]

Edward takes the armor out of his storage and is stunned by how immaculate it looks.

He puts it on and says

'Ellie, time to get out of here.''

[ Noted, opening portal. You will be teleported into a dungeon near Hunter Ruby ]

'Let's go."

Edward walks through the purple disc that is floating in front of him, and comes out underground. In front of him is a group of lesser orcs and goblins. Edward casts flame spout and kills all of the creatures in front of him.

[ Lesser orc x5 slain ]

[Goblin warrior x10 slain ]

'Guess I'm too high level to level from that.'

Edward continues walking forward, slaying any goblins and orcs that get in his path. As he gets nearer to the exit, he runs into three minotaurs.

'I'm not in your playing field anymore.'

He casts gravity magic on them and crushes them underneath their own weight. It's not enough to kill them, but a quick slash attack to the neck with his sword is enough to end them.

[ Minotaur x3 slain ]

[ Level up ]

'Hope there's more of them up there.'

Edward says with a smirk on his face. He comes up to the entrance and steps foot outside, seeing that there are more hunters facing multiple minotaurs and an uncountable amount of orcs and goblins.

Random gold-rank hunters POV:

"THERE'S JUST NO END TO THEM!'

'"AGH!"

"NO, NO, PLEA-"

People are dying everywhere. Nobody said there'd be this many monsters here! If there were this many they should've called multiple gold ranks! Maybe they could fight toe to toe with the minotaurs while we kept the mobs off their backs! There's just not enough of us here!

"WAIT WHAT'S COMING OUT OF THE DUNGEON NOW?!"

I look toward the dungeon and see a black suit of armor walking toward us, but the thing is, the monsters seem to be focusing it!

"IS THAT A NEW TYPE OF MONSTER?!"

As the monsters are running towards it, it casts a spell like I've never seen before. A basic ice spear from the looks of it, but it moves so fast that you can't follow it. It's flying toward me!

"NO NO NO!"

I hear a cracking noise followed by gurgling sounds. I look up and see the minotaur has a hole through its skull. It falls over and I see the armored man cutting through dozens of orcs and goblins as though they're nothing, when numbers that high would overwhelm even a gold-rank. One of the minotaurs breaks off from the group of silvers he's fighting and charges the man. The man jumps toward the minotaur at an inhuman rate of speed and slices its head off. The man bellows out,

"COME AT ME MONSTERS! I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU!"

Followed by a laugh so loud it's heard over the noises of the battlefield. The monsters seem to notice him as a natural predator, as even the minotaurs are trying to run from him. He casts a magic that I've never seen before which looks like a pillar of fire coming from his hand. The fire sweeps through the monsters, killing anything unlucky enough to be in its path. The ice spear from earlier unlodges itself from the ground behind me and cracks through the air with a loud boom, breaking through scores of creatures before finally getting stuck in the skull of the last minotaur. Within seconds, a battle that had been raging for weeks suddenly ended in seconds.

"That man is a god. He has to be."

In front of me, a message appears.

[ The Ornaum Hunter has Arrived ]
