'Are you a Demon Summoner?'
As the two, the girl and demon, stare at the boy in surprise, he asks them a question. At this point, they realised. That this boy wasn't normal either. Regulus, the boy, was a Demon Summoner.
Demon Summoners are normal humans who have strong and otherworld-like desires. If their desires go rampant, then it may cause a major change within the world. That's why the humans gain demons, who suppress their desires, are there. Exorcists also exist. They generally exorcise demons, but they can also exorcise Demon Summoners. After the demons are exorcised, then the individual can fulfil their desire.
The girl, Kiriyama, then proceeded to ask back at Regulus.
'Then, Regulus, what are you?'
Her demon readied himself for battle. But stopped once he saw black mist materialize from around Regulus. It shaped into the form of a woman. The woman had pale silver hair, scarlet-red eyes and her skin was as pale as a vampire's. Astoria. The demon Regulus acquired.
Different from her bubbly self, she stared at the opposite demon with an earnest look. Astoria wasn't messing around.
'Nice to see you again, Astoria.'
The male demon said.
'Likewise, Delta.'
The female demon replied. The air in the room seemed to thicken. It was hard for Regulus and Kiriyama to breathe while the other two shot bloodlust at each other. The Demon Summoners calmed their demons down before any action would occur.
'So, Regulus, you're a Demon Summoner too?'
The boy nods.
'Then what's your desire?'
Kiriyama seemed to have a nervous look on her face. Almost like she didn't want it to be one thing, but she wanted it to be the other. Since there was no reason to hide his desire, at least anything that he could think of, Regulus told them his desire.
'It's to die.'
Kiriyama's face turned pale.
«I guess that I shouldn't have said it. She has always been faint of heart.»
Regulus thought. The male demon, Delta, smiled peculiarly and directed his words at Astoria.
'Seems like you have your hands full with this one, Astoria.'
Astoria loosened her serious attitude and returned to normal. She shrugged her shoulders and sighed while slightly shaking her head horizontally.
'You don't know. This morning, while eating breakfast, he tried to lodge a chopstick into his carotid arteries. Though, of course, I stopped him.'
'Seems like you really have no intent on living, boy.'
Delta then turns to Regulus. Regulus didn't say anything to him other than give him a menacing stare. Delta seemed to inch back a bit.
'What's yours, Kiriyama?'
She hesitated. Her face beat red as she twiddled her fingers together. Kiriyama's legs fidgeted as well. Kiriyama was nervous to say it.
'L...e'
'I couldn't hear you.'
Regulus inched closer.
'...ve...'
'Huh?'
'Love!'
She shouted so loud, that it filled the hallways outside. Regulus looked at her face–it was redder than before. Regulus has never fallen in love, but he could understand, from dramas, manga and anime, that love was complicated and embarrassing if one were to announce it out loud.
Astoria flew over to Kiriyama and circled her with a smug look on her face.
'Oh... well, well... Tell big sister, here, who you love?'
Feeling nervous, she continued to twiddle her fingers. She quickly took a glance at Regulus but looked back at her fingers, worrying that someone would notice.
'N-no one!'
'It's fine. Big sister understands. Love is a complicated thing.'
'I thought you said you have no humane desires.'
Regulus said. Astoria tutted while shaking her index finger.
'You have much to learn if you think that love is only a human desire, my little Regulus.'
'Don't ever call me that.'
He said with an apathetic tone. Astoria pouted and flew around, with a depressed look on her face. Kiriyama attempted to start a conversation with Regulus. She stood up and steadily got closer to him.
'So, Regulus, what did you come here for?'
When he was asked that, he racked his memory. Finally, he remembered that he came to her so that he could apologise for lashing out at her in middle school. At this point, Regulus wondered whether it was necessary to, but he concluded that it was his cowardice stopping him. Bowing, he shouted.
'I'm sorry, Kiriyama! For shouting at you back in middle school! I know you were only trying to calm me down, but I didn't see it that way! So... I'm sorry!'
Kiriyama's vision travels down to Regulus, who's bowing his head. She took a couple of seconds to realize the situation. Trying to think back, she got what he was talking about. She slammed her fist down onto her open palm. Kneeling, she saw the troubled expression of Regulus.
'It's fine.'
She said. Regulus opened his eyes. His face beat red for the first time.
'I've never hated you for it.'
Regulus wasn't falling in love or the like, but, instead... he noticed something else. Her shirt was unbuttoned at the top. Her bra was showing! He tried to not react but it was impossible. It was a natural male reaction, even for someone who has never felt love like Regulus.
'T-thanks.'
He diverted his view.
'What is it, Regulus?'
Her view travelled downwards. Her face flooded with a shiny red.
'R-Regulus, you pervert!'
'It was out of my control!'
And the apology went like that. With gaining forgiveness, he also gained new knowledge that Kiriyama was a Demon Summoner, but got punished afterwards. Was it a win, or a loss? Not even Regulus knows.
