Chapter 28

“So this is where you’ve been spending countless hours. So taken are you by figures that you don’t wish to be with me?”

“Why are you speaking Egyptian? We are alone. We can speak Hebrew.”

Eli brushed Micha’s hand. “As you say.”

Micha sighed. “I miss our home, my love,” said Micha. “Better our bed than this small corner in the palace where I’ve spent a couple of nights. But Yusuf wanted an accounting of grain and animals collected before he left. The Pharaoh is concerned with uprisings from Thebes. He is sending Yusuf to Nubia to make sure everything is calm there and to offer grain as barter for peace.”

“I know. I spoke to Oran. He’s going with Yusuf.”

“Good. I am glad we met Oran the Nephilim during our travels and he agreed to come back with us. I think he has easily adapted to this life in a very short time and I feel Yusuf will be safe with him.”
