Constantly stirring the soup in the pot, Dongyue waited until there was no trace of the elixir left before he breathed a sigh of relief and went inside to fetch two wooden bowls, filling each and bringing them in.
He then piled up a stack of mixed grain vegetable cakes that he had prepared earlier next to the table.
"Dinner's ready,"
he said as he set the bowls and utensils, speaking softly to Jing'er.
"Mmm."
Jing'er had been knitting something, stopped her needlework at his words, and moved to sit at the table.
"It smells so good... Yue'er's cooking is still fantastic!"
Her face was filled with happiness.
"It's just something I honed when I was alone before," Dongyue smiled. His gaze tried to look natural as he watched Jing'er. "Eat while it's hot, it won't be good once it cools down."
"Mmm." Over the years, Jing'er had grown accustomed to the warmth of being with Yue'er.
