The Discovery

In the room, Lydia was unconscious on the ground as she looked to have fainted. Arthur rush to check on her as he took her into his arms but he suddenly realized that she was cold , very cold. He quickly carried her out of the room as he wanted to immediately take her for medical attention.

He came across Master David on his way out of the shop but he was so in a hurry to get her to the hospital that he didn't even stop to greet him. Master David looked at Arthur as he carried Lydia out of his shop and felt frustrated as he felt that he really was have been getting bad luck recently so he immediately locked the shop to follow after Arthur who ran through the street with Lydia in his arm.

Arthur had come across a hospital the other day when they first came to the market and it wasn't that far. On the way he knocked into some people as he was in a rush to the hospital and could hear complaints as he passed by but his mind was focused all on Lydia.

Before long he reached the hospital. "Please I need help, my friend had a problem with beast contract and ended up like this" Arthur said to the first nurse he saw.

"Okay, follow me." The nurse replied as she led Arthur to the emergency ward.

The ward was quite large with a lot of people in it that also needed immediate attention like Lydia did. Luckily, the doctor were just as much. The nurse led Arthur to a bed in the far corner of the large ward.

"Put her here while I get a doctor to attend to her in a minute" she said while she left.

Arthur quickly set Lydia on the bed making sure she was comfortable and then took the blanket on the side of the bed to cover her as she was already shivering. He then heard hurried footsteps approaching him. He turned to find that the nurse is back with a doctor to attend to him.

The doctor did a quick check on Lydia and also noticed her cold temperature. He administered some injection to her and gave her a drip.

"I heard it was caused by a failed contract, is that right?" The doctor asked while giving emergency aid to Lydia.

"I don't know if the contract failed but when I got into the room she was already like this" Arthur responded quickly. At the same time Master David could be seen rushing into the emergency ward looking for Arthur before he spotted him.

"Arthur!" Master David call out while moving to Arthur side. He quickly greeted the doctors.

"What happen to Lydia?" Master David asked Arthur.

Arthur didn't answer and only looked at Master David with so much resentment as he already guess that Lydia must have done the same type of contract he did the day before. Although he knew that this one wasn't Master David fault as he only gave Arthur the book so that he would learn more about the contract, he was still resentful of the situation.

Master David really didn't know what was going on for Arthur to look at him with those eyes, he didn't feel he has done anything to cause Lydia situation but he just kept quiet and decided that they will talk about after the checkup.

The doctor was already done with her treatment. "She just had a very low body temperature and she looked to have passed out from intense pain but the body temperature will soon be as good as new." The Doctor then ordered the nurse to move Lydia into a patient ward.

The ward that Lydia was taken to was one meant for 4 people because that was what he could afford.

After setting her up in the ward, they then left the room with only Arthur , Lydia and Master David after clarifying what Arthur should look out for when he is with her.

Arthur moved to the bedside and sat an a chair while he held Lydia's hand as she slept. She was now relaxed without any sign of pain now.

Master David waited for Arthur to calm down but for asking "So, can you now explain what actually happened?"

Arthur was now relaxed and answer while looking at Master David "She had most likely used the same contract as I did."

"Don't look at me I didn't say a word about the contract to her." Master David with raised arms trying to justify himself without hesitation.

Arthur knew that it wasn't Master David's fault but his own carelessness that caused this situation. If he had kept the book well she wouldn't have known about the contract. Master David also realized that it might have also been the book he gave Arthur as he previously saw her reading a book but since the front cover blank, he didn't know that it was the book on life contract she was reading.

"She will most likely wake up after a few hours of sleep just like you did before and I can't stay here as I have a business to run so I will only drop by once in while to check up on you guys and will bringing some food for you." Master David sigh as he spoke intending to leave.

"Sir do you by chance have a copy of that book on you right now?" Arthur asked.

"Yeah, give me your number so that I can send it to you" said Master David.

After sending his contact details to Master David, he immediately got a soft copy of the book before seeing Master David off.

After checking to ensure that Lydia was comfortable, he summoned the little bird and ordered some food for themselves as their meal was interrupted before. Although the little guy was angry with Arthur but its anger immediately vanished after seeing it's meal.

Apparently, it could only eat small amount of Spirit tied meals due to being at mortal rank. It immediately fell asleep after eating a little so Arthur recalled it back into his body and ate the remaining meat before cleaning up.

He sat on the chair beside Lydia bed to read the book on his phone after his own meal. He scanned through the table of content and saw that the book was divided into two parts, the first part talks about the normal cultivation of a normal Beast Master while the second part talks about the path that he was currently faced with. The book wasn't much and he could probably finish by when she wakes up.

Arthur started to read the book in details, occasionally he will check on Lydia to ensure she was okay. The room had already become full up with all the other beds occupied with other patients. He just ensured that Lydia was not disturbed in anyway before continuing the book.

By night fall he was done with the first part and decided that he should get another set of meal for the little bird and himself as it have already been awake for sometime.

After his order got delivered, they both started to eat while Arthur thought about what he has read from the first part of the book.

According to the book, In the normal method of cultivation which have been perfected over the years, one will have a beast space in there mind which will enable one to contract and keep beast.

Firstly, when they contract the beast it can have two forms which is the normal beast form and then the companion form which can be a wing, a sword, Armour, bow or even accessories but, it can only be in one form at a time.

Secondly, a normal beast tamer can contract another beast every realm they advance which means that a Spirit rank beast tamer can have two beast, Earth rank beast tamer will have three beast and so on.

Thirdly, Cultivation of the beast is based on it's inert potential and available resources while the cultivators strength comes directly from their connection to their beast. That means contracting something like a baby dragon can basically allow one to reach a very high realm with enough resources in future so one can save slots for later stages.

In a way, a Beast tamer can be seen as a leacher as they are only give resources and opportunities to their tamed beast while they get the abilities of their tamed beast. 

Lastly, Due to it been researched for many years, it was become perfected and there is almost a 100% chance of success.

Now he basically knew all the basic information of the normal path and it even expanded his view. He was already trying to guess what is to be expected from his path but that can wait till after his meal.

After the meal, the little bird was already sleeping so he just recalled it back to his body and was really wondering if he will be able to raise it in the future. He just cleared up the place.

While checking to see if Lydia was okay, he realized that Lydia's drip would soon finish so he called the nurses to change it. After everything was settled, he tucked her with a blanket before returning to his seat.

He open the book to continue the next part in anticipation. It started with the history of the Life contract as people weren't satisfied with the normal contract and wanted power of their own. They wanted to become the beast themselves so they started the research of trying to obtain the power for their own.

They did a lot of illegal experiment trying to find a method to completely combine a human and a beast as one but it was then seen to produce a result of turning one into the Demi-humans that can already be found in some part of the world.

The Demi-humans were also know as bloodline warriors as they had the abilities of beast but can't contract them.

There was an important reason why it was seen a failure. Seeing the reason, Arthur immediately stood up with a frightened face, almost dropping is phone. This method despite perfection, it's survival rate is actually still less than 10%.

"Arthur! " Lydia's woke up at this point. Arthur looked at her with a pale face, all that was in his mind was
