The people in the room frowned as they could hardly believe what they were hearing. Not only had the man blatantly threatened to kill them, but he had also made everyone doubt each other. They looked around each other, eye shifting, untrusting.

The people they called friends just moments before were suddenly enemies, a single leg on the ladder to climb, one that would be so much better as a leg if it did not move.

Alex looked around, surprised by how quickly the situation in the hall was changing. He could see that while not all, many were thinking of doing this since it was an easy path the victory. 

If there were fewer people in the tournament, the competition was going to get smaller.

The man in the barrier laughed out loud, cackling like a madman as he understood he had just swayed the hearts of so many others. He seemed to be looking forward to what was going to happen next.
