Chapter 11 : Prey and Predator (3)

The bandit leader raised his eyebrow at the mention. He was sure that the Heavenly Divine Demon Sect worshiped the Heavenly Demon.

"You do not pray to the Heavenly Demon?"

Feng Zhiming slowly finished his performance before replying.

"Since the Heavenly Demon never answered my prayers, he's a fake god. The god I pray to is real."

"Hah, If I had a spirit stone for every time I heard that phrase, I'd be a Dao Lord by now." the bandit leader replied as he drank another cup.

"I understand your skepticism, I was skeptical too, but today he has guided me here, I am grateful."

The bandit leader looked at him as if he had seen a mentally ill person, what kind of lunatic would believe almost being killed and ending up in a bandit camp was a good thing.

"I Louba Tian have never seen such a blinded person."

He slowly walked to his tent as he rubbed his eyebrows.

"Aren't you curious, about why my god brought me here?"

Louba Tian stopped, he was a little bored, so there was no problem in listening to the motivations of a lunatic.

"Speak."

"My god tells me that within tonight you so-called brothers will be at each other's throats."

Louba Tian's hands curled up into fists.

"And your vice captain Eli will be the first to betray you....But you will not die by his hands."

Louba Tian jumped into the hole and lifted Feng Zhiming by the collar.

"You think I won't kill you just because you're worth some money, don't overstep."

He threw him back onto the ground and left to go to his tent.

Feng Zhiming was sitting in a lotus position, seeming a little strained. With the strength he exhibited, Feng Zhiming wouldn't be surprised if he was actually a participant, this chief was freakishly strong for his realm.

"Who will it be, the king, the jester or the hanged woman?" a silent chuckle escaped from his mouth.

Back at the mortal camp, the massacre was finished the moment it started, as mortals with no cultivation they were vegetables on the chopping board.

"Vice captain Eli, look what I found." the bandit held a beast core which seemed to emanate a strange aura.

Eli walked over and examined said core, it was unlike anything he had ever seen, possibly fifth grade or even higher.

He looked over at the bandit, who had found it, and was prepared to celebrate it when he heard a voice in his head.

"It's my chance to become the new chief."

Eli was confused for a moment but got over it quickly. He looked over at the bandit who had brought him the core and a sinister idea appeared in his head.

He quickly raised his sword and cleanly decapitated the Qi Condensation level bandit.

"What they don't know clearly won't hurt them."

"Let me see the spoils."

Louba Tian had a smile on his face as he looked forward to the potential gain.

The bandits slowly handed over all their loot, it was as expected, there wasn't much except for food and drink.

"Another thing Chief, the little pipsqueak we picked up died." Eli spoke with enough regret in his voice as he could manage.

"The kid at the Qi condensation stage?"

"Yeah, he insisted on fighting the lone cultivator on his own and demanded I don't help, in the end he was decapitated."

Louba Tian was disappointed, and a frown appeared on his face, not only did he gain nothing from this encounter, he had lost a new recruit.

"Useless hostage bastard, you told me they had something valuable!" Louba Tian was taking out his anger the only place he could.

Upon hearing this statement, Eli's eyes narrowed as he looked at Feng Zhiming with a sharp killing intent.

"This kid knows about the core, I have to silence him." he thought to himself.

"Forget it, head to bed for the night and enjoy the women." Louba Tian announced.

Before leaving for his tent, he turned to look at Feng Zhiming for a moment, he was still praying.

"Lunatic."

Night fell and all the bandits, but two, had gone to sleep.

Louba Tian was having a common dream, he had achieved the peak of the Dao Lord Realm and was hailed as the human emperor, an existence that was unquestionable.

But all of a sudden the skies were dyed red and the seas inverted, the world was taken into chaos.

At that moment, a figure appeared in front of him.

"Eli wh-"

Before he could finish, Eli had taken his saber and stabbed him with it straight in the heart.

He hastily awoke and left his tent to come sit by the campfire and have another drink, this was when he noticed Eli was in the hole with Feng Zhiming and holding him by the neck.

"STOP!" Louba Tian yelled at him.

Eli instantly dropped Feng Zhiming who still had a slight smirk on his face, his eyes met Louba Tian's and looked upon him as if they both knew some secret.

"Sorry Chief, he was hurling insults about you and the camp." Eli jumped out of the hole and knelt before him.

"Don't say anything else for now, go down to the river and catch me a few fishes, I'm hungry." Louba Tian was trying hard to hold back his suspicions, for some reason he felt as if his intuition was amplified, and he was being far too lenient with his impulses.

Eli seemed hesitant to leave, but did so anyway.

"How's your heart?" Feng Zhiming asked in a smug tone as he cleaned his neck.
