1. An Angel came to pick me up

It was a chilly night in mid-January in Serenity City. Snowflakes gently fell from the sky, coating the streets in a fresh layer of white.

In a quiet alley, lit only by a dim streetlight, an 18-year-old guy lay on the ground. He looked up at the darkening sky, a trickle of blood running down his forehead. His hand pressed against his stomach, where another injury was causing him to bleed.

The snow beneath him turned red as it soaked up his blood. He was tall, about 6 feet 2 inches, with tears of pain in his sky blue eyes. Snowflakes landed softly on his jet black hair. Despite his thin frame, his muscles were toned beneath his thin sweater, now stained with blood.

"Damn," he muttered quietly, his voice filled with pain and frustration. A small pool of blood formed beside his eye.

"How did I end up like this?" he wondered aloud, his voice barely audible in the quiet alley.

The street was empty, with no one in sight to help him.

Closing his eyes against the pain, he tried to remember how he got into this mess.

Just a few minutes earlier, he had been walking the snowy streets, the sound of his footsteps echoing in the quiet night. He checked his phone for a signal, knowing his mom would be worried if he was late again.

"What excuse should I use this time?" he muttered to himself, slipping his phone back into his pocket.

"Austin will figure something out," he thought, a faint smile crossing his lips as he continued on his way.

Suddenly, amidst the snowy silence, a distraught voice pierced the air, echoing through the deserted street.

"Somebody please help me!" a lady's desperate cry rang out.

Billy's ears perked up at the sound, his heart racing with adrenaline as he swiftly turned towards the source of the distress.

Running as fast as his legs could carry him, Billy dashed through the snowy streets towards the commotion.

Arriving at the scene, he found a young man, likely a delinquent, attempting to wrestle a handbag from a lady who valiantly fought back.

Without hesitation, Billy leaped into action, charging towards the struggling pair and tackling the delinquent to the ground.

"Hey, kid, trying to play the hero?" the delinquent sneered as he regained his footing, readying himself for a confrontation.

"Drop it! I don't want any trouble," Billy warned sternly, his gaze unwavering and resolute.

Undeterred, the delinquent lunged towards Billy with a heavy blow, but Billy's reflexes were lightning-fast as he dodged the attack effortlessly, his movements fluid and precise.

In a flurry of motion, Billy swiftly disarmed the delinquent, effortlessly subduing him and preventing his escape.

Turning to the lady with a reassuring smile, Billy's heart sank as he realized she had already fled the scene, leaving him alone in the aftermath of the scuffle.

"Guess she wasn't sticking around," Billy muttered with a hint of disappointment, his eyes scanning the empty street.

Resigned to his fate, Billy reached for his phone, intending to alert the authorities to the delinquent's misdeeds. However, before he could make the call, a searing pain erupted in his stomach, causing him to double over in shock.

"Damn it!" Billy cursed under his breath, his grip on the delinquent faltering momentarily.

Seizing the opportunity, the delinquent broke free from Billy's grasp, shoving him into a nearby lamppost and inflicting a painful gash on his forehead.

Collapsing onto the snowy ground, Billy clutched his wounded stomach, his breaths ragged and labored as the delinquent vanished into the night, leaving him alone with his injuries and shattered sense of heroism.

Minutes passed as Billy lay on the ground, his strength waning with each passing moment. The deserted street offered no solace, and the loss of his mobile phone left him feeling helpless.

Gazing up at the darkening sky, snowflakes swirling around him, Billy mustered a faint smile. "Sorry, sis," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "It seems I've failed."

The pain in his stomach intensified, a stark reminder of his mortality. "Mom," he whispered, tears mingling with the snowflakes on his cheeks. "It seems like I'm going to meet you for the first time."

"I don't want to go," he continued, his voice choked with emotion. "But it seems like I have no choice, mom."

Despite the agony coursing through his body, a semblance of peace washed over him. "Dad," he whispered, a ghost of a smile gracing his lips. "I'm coming to see you again."

As his energy ebbed away, Billy closed his eyes, surrendering to the encroaching darkness.

Suddenly, a familiar sound reached his ears—the crunch of snow underfoot. With effort, Billy opened his eyes to see a young woman rushing towards him, her expression one of shock and concern.

Kneeling beside him, she quickly assessed his condition, her green eyes widening in alarm. Billy couldn't help but smile at the sight of her, her chocolate brown hair framing her face like a halo.

"Don't worry," she reassured him, her voice trembling slightly as she dialed for help on her phone. "I'll call the emergency."

Billy's smile widened at her . "An angel came to pick me up?" he whispered, his words barely audible.

"Angel?" she echoed, her brow furrowing in confusion.

With that, Billy's consciousness began to slip away, the world fading into darkness once more.

"Billy!" a voice called out urgently, jolting him awake.

"Come on, Billy, wake up!" the voice urged, more insistent this time.

Slowly, Billy opened his eyes, waking up from his sleep to find himself sprawled on the couch in the living room, a game controller resting on his chest. Standing before him was a guy about the same age as him, his face contorted with frustration.

He was as handsome as Billy, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Billy, still groggy from sleep, managed a sleepy smile and greeted him, "Good morning, Austin."

But Austin's frustration only grew, and he snapped at Billy, "It's evening, you idiot!" Billy snapped fully awake at that realization.

TO ALL WHO HAVE STARTED READING THIS BOOK,

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO ENGAGE WITH MY WORK.

I INITIALLY WROTE "ETERNAL AFFECTION" EARLIER, BUT I FELT IT WAS INCOMPLETE DUE TO PLOT HOLES. I BELIEVE THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO EXPLORE IN THIS STORY, WHICH IS WHY I DECIDED TO START FROM SCRATCH. I'M MAKING IT MORE INTERESTING, ADDING NEW CHARACTERS, AND DELVING DEEPER INTO THE EXISTING ONES.

THANK YOU, AND I HOPE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ME.
