Chapter 8 - Playing with Xiao Xiao

Tian Shen went to find his little sister who was Xiao Xiao. The little girl was the closest person among the orphan children due to being the one who had found her abandon within the forest when he was fetching twinges. He recalled the memories of Tian Shen in his current world and however since that they he had personally taken care of her.

He wonders if his younger sibling from the previous world would have the same strong bond to Xiao Xiao. Tian Shen prayed that his younger sibling would be able to live the life he wasn't able to do and grow without worry using the money he had accumulated.

Tian Shen walking down the hallway halted for a brief moment before smirking. After entering the [Body Tempering] his keen senses had increased exponentially allowing him to detect things much clearer. He was able to hear tiny footsteps following pretended to be ignorant while hearing a little girl giggling.

"I wonder where Xiao Xiao? Sister Feng told me she wants to come with his Brother Tian but I guess I'll go alone."

He heard the little girl gasped instantly the sound of tiny footsteps resounded then felt someone hugged him tightly from behind. Tian Shen shifted his head to looked down at the little girl who was on the verge of crying.

"Wait Xiao Xiao wants to come with Brother Tian! Xiao Xiao is lonely without big brother!"

Tian Shen chuckled seeing the little girl who causes his heart to melt at how adorable she appears. The little girl had short red messy hair wear ring cute dress made from silk that her brother bought for her. She stopped crying when Tian Shen began patting her head then lifted her without breaking. Sweat placing her on his shoulder.

After reaching the [Star Forging Bone] from the [Zenith Celestial Star] gave him the strength to lift at least two tons therefore Xiao Xiao was light as a feather for him.

"Hahahaha I was just playing with you. How can I leave my adorable sister? Where do you want to go??"

Xiao Xiao grew excited as it was rare for him to take her anywhere due to always working hard to gain money. She never bothered him when Tian Shen is working and always asked to play once his around the orphanage. Despite being tired, Tian Shen tried his best to play and spend time with Xiao Xiao and the other orphanage children.

"Brother let's go to the town! I want moon cake!"

"Alright, I'll buy you many moon cakes!"

Tian Shen couldn't see her face due to being on his shoulder but knew she had a wide grin. He smiled began heading their way to the town while the other Orphanage seeing them off.

Few minutes passed by, Tian Shen arrived at the town where it was the same as yesterday filled with countless people. The Azure Dragon City despite being considered a city was still comparable to a small country. It was the Xianxia logic where everything is bigger than should.

"Big brother over there!"

Xiao Xiao pointed towards the street vendor selling moon cakes that causes the little girl to drool from the aroma. He chuckled then went his way to the vendor who recognize them due to having bought from him before.

"Oh, I already know why you're here. The usual?"

"Yeah, but add few a extra."

Xiao Xiao was surprised that her brother was buying more than normal while the vendor nodded preparing ten pieces of moon cake. Tian Shen took out a bag of his money that contains around a hundred yuan which was his salary for the whole week.

It was extremely small but it was worth every penny just to see her little sister happy. He could easily obtain more money with the knowledge gain from Celestial Ming and internally thank him. Tian Shen handed twenty Yuan towards the vendor while Xiao Xiao took the moon cake shoving the food in her mouth.

"Thank you and come again anytime."

"I'll keep it in mind, Xiao Xiao Slow down the food isn't going away."

"Hehehe don't talk while your eating and just slow down or you'll choke."

Tian Shen went to continue trying to find anything interesting as Xiao Xiao ate her food filling her mouth with the moon cake. He warily smiles at how easily the little girl consumed the food but let her be as long she happy.

They arrived down the streets where it getting closer to the capital area where the object being sold was more expensive than Tian Shen's whole month salary. He wasn't aiming for the expensive things and only curious hoping to find something.

It was then something caught his eye proceeded to get closer to an old woman who appeared to be on the verge of son starvation. He felt pity how someone still force to sell in the streets instead of resting.

"Granny how much for this?"

He crouched down looking at a small piece of small hairpin having a flower design made out of golden-colored covered in rust due to age. The old woman held her head looking up to Tian Shen and Xiao xiao.

"This is a family heirloom by my mother and decided to sell due not having children to give it. Perhaps you may have use for it young lad. I'm willing to sell it only for fifty Yuan coins."

Tian Shen flinched hearing the old woman sadden she was willing to give out something this precious. The first time he led his eyes on the hairpin instantly knew this thing wasn't a normal ornament but a powerful treasure.

However, the old woman misunderstood Tian Shen thinking her offer was too much considering he was only a young boy and doubt would have that kind of money.

Tian Shen stopped her knowing she misunderstood his shock about the cost. It made him sadden knowing their people that had much more situation than him from his previous life. This is the reason he never prided himself and thought his experience is the worst.

"Granny you mistaken for my shock and merely taken away by the beauty of this hairpin. Here granny in exchange for this piece of art."

He handed the bag of hundred Yuan and took the hairpin surprised the old woman and before she could thank him had already disappeared. The old woman smiled then prayed for good fortune to Tian Shen.

"Brother, why did you give all of your money to granny?"

Xiao Xiao was confused seeing her brother had easily given away the money he earned from working hard for the past week. Tian Shen Smiled looking up at Xiao Xiao and began to explain.

"Well, I could always work and gain more money while granny can't do that anymore. Remember Xiao Xiao always try to do good when you can but still be careful who you trust. To those who do good shall receive good karma."

"Is that it? Xiao Xiao understand."

Tian Shen nodded going their way to explore through the city till arriving in the plaza where people say down and relax. Their few children playing while some cultivating and training their body but he ignored them.

"Xiao Xiao want to play the game with brother?"

"Really! Then let's play!"

Tian Shen removed Xiao Xiao from his shoulder them began to play tag games. He hadn't been able to play this activity in his previous life and enjoyed running around. His speed and stamina were far too much for Xiao Xiao to handle and made sure to control his strength.

By playing tag with Xiao Xiao, He was able to train his precision on how to wield his strength and avoid overexerting power that would cause unforeseen incidents.

After a while, the two sat down and Xiao Xiao grew tired falling asleep on his lap causing him to smile. The sun was still up deciding to take Xiao Xiao home who held him tightly while having a blissful smile and explore the forest for some herbs.

He doesn't have any more money after buying off the hairpin from the old woman. Nevertheless, Tian Shen didn't regret giving his money as the item was worth every penny.

The orphanage was near enough to the forest therefore didn't need to go far from his home. Tian Shen arrived at the orphanage where Feng Xue was playing with a few of the children.

"Tian Shen your back? Fufufufu I can tell Xiao Xiao enjoy spending time with you. Here let me carry her."

Tian Shen gave his little sister to Feng Xue who was still holding his clothing not wanting to let go. He removes Xiao Xiao grasp while kissing her forehead.

"Sister Feng I'll be going to the forest gathering herbs, please don't worry I won't belong"

"I know you had become a cultivator but please be careful."

Tian Shen nodded seeing her expression worried about his well-being but accepted due to being his choice to walked the path of a cultivator and will support him no matter what. After giving his little sister Feng's cue, He quickly headed to the mountains near the orphanage.

Tian Shen arrived inside the forest and quickly sat down for a moment to examined the Hairpin from the old woman. It was a rusted golden hairpin that had a flower design at the end but had a mysterious aura around it.

"This thing is a weapon artifact….but what grade remains unknown."

He removed the pin from the slot leaving him the sharp needle that had a tip that could easily pierce flesh. Tian Shen who had read countless fictional books knew exactly what it needs and prick his fingers.

'If I die from tetanus then everything will be anti-climatic.'

It was then his blood was absorbed by the needle consuming a massive amount causing him to fall into his knee but gritted his death and kept his consciousness refusing to die that easily. Tian Shen recited his cultivation to mediate the pain and sat in the lotus position maintaining calmed mind.

He didn't notice shimmering smoke began forming around him then was instantly absorbed by his body while the pin grew in size becoming thinned long spear with the flower broke into a petal around its body.

The rust vanished becoming a golden spear glowing brilliantly hovering in the air before Tian Shen. He opened his eyes in shock staring intently at the spear.

"This…is [Spirit weapon]!"
