Era: Dawn of the New Gods

Concise Synopsis: This is a post-apocalyptic story about the origins of various powerful figures that appeared after the apocalypse event. During the apocalypse monsters appeared possessing powers and constitution beyond the limits of human understanding. They ravaged the world and brought down all governments. The first part of the story follows Jade, a terrorist that was ravaging the world before the monsters arrived. ________________________________________ Dramatic Synopsis: The New Gods, the most feared and revered beings on the planet. They are forces capable of absolute destruction and creation. The Council of Branches Hayley, the Living Lie (if that is her real name) Chao Feng, the Prince of Stars Lara, the Mother of Heroes The Great City of Tver Gog, the Ever Losing War The Unkillable Freak Dave, the Flow Demon Avatari, (only the name is known) Satoshi, the Gentle Hurricane As Impactful as they are no one knew their origin, they are called the New Gods so there must be Old Gods. I and my colleagues dedicated our lives to finding their origins only to find out that the beings we fear and adore were once like us, average, mortal and weak... at least most of them were. ________________________________________ *It is a sort of 'reverse RPG' as no one knows anything either skills, abilities or how the system works but they find out on their own or develop their own skills or abilities. *The story has many protagonists and point of views but it paints a beautiful story of survival in a world of endless perils for both the humans and the monsters (some monsters are protagonists). *There is a system but it is very limited (not overpowered) and it treats everyone equally, monster or human. The system is very different from regular systems; no exp, levels and system items (it has similar concepts but they are not the same). *The story is a world building story where overall, the world is the true main character. Jade, the Impotent Troll

After 4 weeks of constant training Samira started wishing she hadn't taken the deal with Jade. He was way stronger than she imagined, Samira had slept once every 3 days in an attempt to match Jade's stamina, but Jade hadn't slept or rested throughout the whole time. She thought 'If only I had maxed out my stats before evolving, I would have gotten a superior evolution'.

Jade looked at her as she despaired while they ate the meat from the monsters Jade had killed before he came to Abuja and as if he read her mind he said "Don't feel so down, if you were strong enough to get en-code by yourself before you evolved you could have chosen better, but there's a reason why almost everyone isn't superior, it's because doing that is extremely hard… and probably because not many people know about it. But now that you have some strength you can choose how you grow".

Samira frowned at Jade; his efforts to placate her had failed. 'Again with his perfect logic, you think I don't know that?' Jade again responded as if he could read her mind "If you knew what I told you then you shouldn't be feeling so terrible, you should just move on ignoring the past and heading for the future like a shounen protagonist".

Samira's had a shocked expression 'I'm sure of it! He is reading my mind. He didn't tell me what he evolved to but I'm sure it grants him the ability to read minds… damn! This high bullshit evolution doesn't have abilities'

Jade smiled and spoke "I don't have abilities; my evolution is, in fact, very similar to the high human evolution, just better". Samira was fed up, she shouted "YOU ARE CLEARLY READING MY MIND!"

Jade laughed and said "Calm down, my intelligence is way higher than yours, smooth brain human, and since I've been with you for a while now, I've memorized your reflexes and nuances so I know what you're thinking in the most part".

Samira looked away with a frown. Jade asked "How much en-code do you have left?" Samira checked:

[En-code state:

Strength: 32/1,000,000

Agility: 12/1,000,000

Stamina: 0/1,000,000

Durability: 3,002/1,000,000

Intelligence: 1234/100,000,000

Senses: 112,374/1,000,000

Energy: 10,000/10,000

Unattributed: 0/105,010,000]

The past two weeks had been hell for Samira; her impression of Jade had changed greatly over that time. Jade had worked her to the bone, he always knew when she was refreshed and when she couldn't train anymore no matter how she acted. She had gone through tough experiences but not at the hand of someone she liked.

She was made to train all her stats both physical and mental. She read and solved calculations while doing her workout, Jade would break one of her bones every time she failed a question to improve her durability, with her heighten senses it was not a pleasant experience.

The only thing she couldn't train so well was her senses; she trained them by fighting Jade with two of her senses disabled which helped greatly but didn't really bring ground breaking results. Jade would also use the avenue of their fights to break her bones to train her durability.

Samira hated the training but like always Jade's logic was better than her feelings, her physical condition had greatly improved, she could lift triple the weights she lifted at the start of the week, her speed had quadrupled and she knew how to fight and defend herself now.

For her intelligence she hadn't seen much progress, combined with the fact that intelligence took more en-code to raise she could only test her intelligence against Jade and he would always humiliate her calling her a 'smooth brain human'.

She began the week expecting Jade to resemble Malik, but they were nothing alike, Jade was a major troll. He never talked about what she was doing right; he only magnified her mistakes. She checked her body state:

[Pervious State:

Strength: Low (intermediate)

Agility: Low (intermediate)

Stamina: Low (intermediate)

Durability: Low (intermediate)

Intelligence: Low (intermediate)

Senses: Low (intermediate)

Energy: Low (low)]

[Current State:

Strength: Low (high)

Agility: Low (high)

Stamina: Low (high)

Durability: Low (high)

Intelligence: Low (intermediate)

Senses: Low (intermediate)

Energy: Low (low)]

Her physical stats, strength, agility, stamina and durability had increased by one minor Rank, while her mental stats and energy stayed the same, energy being the hardest to improve since she couldn't sense it.

She told Jade the results, he smiled gently and said "Well done". Samira started to feel empathy 'Maybe he was only doing that to drive me forward with anger? … No! he can read my mind, he's just trying to make himself look good after all his mistakes'. Jade chuckled when she finished that thought, which creped Samira out 'He can really read my mind'.

Samira hurriedly changed the topic "I still can't use my energy, what am I going to do about that?" Jade's face became serious, he had tried to explain the feeling of energy to Samira but she just didn't get it, he didn't blame her, the officials hadn't used energy also which meant it wasn't as easy for every one as it was for him.

'Considering that I have 100 billion maximum energy en-code while high humans only have 10 thousand, it makes sense that controlling energy is instinctual for me but is impossible for them' Jade thought.

Jade said after some thinking "I think I know a way to help you sense energy" Jade's idea came from how he became able to sense his soul "I will put some of my energy inside you and try to interact with your energy organ, it should bring your energy out of its dormant state and help you feel it".

Samira smirked and said "No, that sound so dirty, if you want sex just ask". The statement hit Jade where it hurt. He coughed, regained his composure and said "Fine, if you don't want to activate your energy it doesn't affect my plans much".

Samira's grin widened and she said "You don't have to be such a Tsundere, I'll let you put your 'energy' inside me, I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience". Jade frowned with a blush 'Don't yell, no matter what, don't tell her you'll be impotent for 60 years' Jade thought as he regained his cool again.

Samira was delighted as she saw him struggle and wanted to tease him more, she rarely ever had the upper hand on him in any of their arguments, but Jade beckoned her to come closer before she could continue.

He felt the energy in her as she was within his energy zone, he pushed his energy against her energy organ's centered on her head. Her energy repelled his own, like how similar poles repel each other, Jade in response pushed his energy toward her own, covering her energy zone with his own and pushing against it from all sides.

Her energy began to contract as Jade's energy made her energy organ smaller by pushing against it. Jade said "Can you feel your energy moving?" Samira nodded and Jade retracted his energy.

Samira felt it when he moved compressed her energy zone, something in her was rejecting something from him, the feeling was very vague. The moment he retracted his energy, Samira felt the pressure of her energy organ expanding to its normal size and when it completely subsided she was back to square one; she couldn't feel her energy no matter how hard she tried.

Jade noticed her vain efforts to create the same feeling and told her "Should I do it again?" she nodded and Jade repeated the process, this time disturbing her energy for longer.

Samira again struggled to feel her energy but failed, she was disappointed. Jade smirked arrogantly and said "You know I got this on the first try, I didn't even need anyone to help me. It was like moving my own limbs" smugly.

Samira frowned and ignored him, she signaled for him to do it again. They repeated the process hundreds of times until Samira could feel her energy without his help, only she could only feel it when she focused hard.

Samira sat in a meditative position as she kept focusing on her energy, Jade said it was a sphere of a radius of 2.5 feet but she could only feel a tiny dot at the center of her head. She tried controlling the energy, a process which was extremely tedious for her.

After some hours of practice, Jade interrupted her and said "You have to kill monsters; it's pointless to train without an abundant amount of en-code. Check your sense en-code"

Samira checked her en-code and to her surprise her sense en-code had reduced to about 60 thousand and her energy en-code had reduced to about 9 thousand. Jade said seeing her surprise "The easiest sense to train is the energy sense as it is closely related to your intelligence. Improving a stat with a training method that improves other related stats is currently the quickest way to consume en-code while training.

For instance agility, stamina and strength cannot increase without each other. The training you're doing increases sense, intelligence and energy in a descending order.

There might be trainings we humans haven't discovered or aren't capable of, that increase stats individually. Also, I don't know how to increase energy; I've never exhausted my energy organ although I imagine that to be the way to increase it.

But regardless of whatever training we use, we need en-code, so let's go"

Samira nodded and approached Jade, they teleported a few times and reached an area filled with undead.
