- Agent of Death

Despite the marvelous gains he received, Zex could not find himself enjoying them too much.

The moment he took Edge's life, he realized that he still had some conscience deep within. Though his heart was already that of a demon, he still had a human side existing within him, making him question where 'memory', 'emotions', and 'conscience' really reside between the mind, the heart, and the soul. However, the pain he was feeling right now was something he wished would go away.

This world and the system seem to want him to pursue the path of evil. Will he end up throwing away what's left of his humanity one day?

He shook his head and decided to push these thoughts to the back of his mind to focus on the current situation.

After killing Edge and his team while learning their skills, adding to the 2,996,750 he had from before and deducting the experience he used to heal himself as he was facing Edge, he currently had a whopping 7,548,000 experience points.

He also gained the Legendary tier class [Agent of Death] and its subclasses [Death Blade], [Death Chanter], and [Death Knight]. There was also a fourth class that was greyed out and labeled [???]. He guessed that he currently did not meet the requirements to unlock this hidden subclass.

(Legendary Class) [Agent of Death]

You are a representative of the Grim Reaper. Death celebrates you as you send souls his way.

Each level of a subclass from Agent of Death grants 4% to its dominant attributes. At max level, gain an additional 44% to dominant primary attributes.

Dominant Primary Attributes:

Death Blade - Strength, Agility, and Dexterity

Death Chanter - Intelligence, Wisdom, Spirit

Death Knight - Vitality, Constitution, Resistance

(Legendary Subclass) [Death Blade 1/1 Lvl 0/10 (Exp 0/4]

(Passive) [Instruments of Death] Mastery of all weapons and tools start at Mastered.

(Passive) [Death Sentence] Every 4th damage instance within a 44-second window is a guaranteed critical hit. Critical damage increased by 444%.

(Active) [Dance With Death] Effect: Evasion and counterattack success rates + 44%.

Duration: Maximum of 44 seconds.

Cost: 4 mana per second.

Cooldown: 44 seconds after the end of duration.

(Active) [Reaping Strike] Effect: Next weapon attack will be a decisive blow, dealing Str+Agi+Dex+Int bonus pre-mitigated physical damage. Striking vitals increase damage by 44%. If this skill kills a target, its cooldown resets.

Cost: 44 mana

Cooldown: 4 seconds

(Legendary Subclass) [Death Chanter 1/1 Lvl 0/10(Exp 0/4]

(Passive) [Echoes of the Damned] When a spell kills a target, the spell can be recast towards a target within a 44-meter radius from the death that activates this effect. The effect only activates once per cause of death. If no target is found or the caster is out of cast range within 4 seconds, the effect ends. Does not affect Agent of Death skills. The recast will cost 44% mana and deal 44% of the spell's damage that activates this effect and will fail if the user's mana is insufficient.

(Passive) [Symphony of Death] Each spell cast activated reduces the mana cost of the spells cast within 44 seconds by 4% for a maximum of 44%. Spell-casts do not refresh the duration.

(Active) [The Underworld Beckons] Effect: A spell that summons ghastly hands inside a wide area. Upon activation, the movement speed of targets within the designated area will be decreased by 44% for the duration of the spell. After 1 second, the ghastly hands will seek out targets and hold them in place for 3 seconds. Targets held in place will have their defenses and resistances reduced by 44%.

Duration: 4 seconds

Range: Maximum of 44 Meters

Radius: (4 meters)*(Int*4+Wis*4)

Mana Cost: 444 Mana

Cast Completion: 444

Cooldown: 44 Hours

(Active) [Reaper's Descent] Effect: Summon a manifestation of the Grim Reaper for 4 seconds. At the 4th second, the Grim Reaper swings its scythe dealing Int*4 true damage to targets within a designated area. Instantly kills targets who fall under 4% of their maximum HP after damage calculation, ignores barriers and immunity skills including immunity to death.

Duration: 4 seconds

Range: Maximum of 44 Meters

Radius: = (4 meters)*(Int*4+Wis*4)

Mana Cost: 444 Mana

Cast Completion: 444

Cooldown: 44 hours

(Legendary Subclass) [Death Knight 1/1 Lvl 0/10(Exp 0/4]

(Passive) [Death Defied] Once every 44 hours, ignore lethal damage and restore to full health.

(Passive) [Reaper's Cloak] Every 44% of lost HP increases all Damage and Defenses by 4%. Restoring HP does not remove this effect. Lasts until out of combat.

(Active) [6 Feet Under] Effect: Upon activation, every creature within an area surrounding the user will instantly lose 4% HP and another 4% HP every 4 seconds. Treated as a damage instance.

Maximum Duration: 4 minutes

'A DPS subclass, one for a mage, and the last is for a tank.' Zex was surprised that Angel of Death had 3 legendary subclasses that came along with it with one hidden subclass.

'If the inhabitants of this world do not have the system, heroes like Edge must have just normally trained their skills and somehow unlocked such classes without them knowing. It could be that they would suddenly have a spark of inspiration or their intuition would guide them to harness those new skills even without being taught by anyone.' He hypothesized.

Previously, he realized that there were different types of skills. For now, he discovered two major classifications: Normal Skills and Growth Type Skills.

Normal Skills could not be leveled up no matter how much the user trains. Usually, these skills are either too ordinary or very special just like [Soul Swap] and the skills learned via subclasses like the skills he learned from the [Agent of Death]'s and [Lord of Evil]'s subclasses.

However, just like in the case of the farmer subclass, it would seem that some skills linked with the subclass would be unlocked and upgraded only through reaching higher tiers. One such example was when he upgraded his Novice Farmer subclass to Farmer subclass, skills he did not previously own like [Basic Farming Mastery] and [Green Thumb] were instantly learned.

Growth Type Skills are the opposite albeit having different rules for different skills.

Generally, he noticed that these skills were ones obtained via learning from a teacher, or maybe books. Some special cases also occur just like for his [Mana Control - Basic] which is now at [Mana Control - GrandMaster] after training [Blade Aura] and creating the [Black Flame Armor]. In such cases, special triggers were needed to unlock and/or upgrade.

Some of these Growth Type Skills, like [Blade Aura] could only be upgraded via improving the understanding and control of the user.

'The principles of this world are pretty complex. But it is most likely because I could see these details through the interface why it seems that way.' Zex mused to himself as he was in the process of digesting all the information he had gathered.

"It would be faster if I can do experiments on a native." Zex thought out loud as he paused the flow of his theory-crafting.

He then focused on the Three legendary subclasses and calculated the gains versus the cost.

With the vast experience points he currently had, he was impressed by his harvest… except for when he noticed the exp requirements of the new legendary subclasses he gained, he had a suspicion that even having this much experience would not allow him to max any of them.

He was also curious about his [Demon General] subclass. He considered leveling it up before but he was unsure what benefit upgrading it would give him, while at the same time, he was unsure how much the experience gain rate was in this world.

After planning things carefully, he decided to upgrade his [Demon General] subclass once.

As the upgrade was successful, the system sounded.

[Demon General] upgraded to Lvl 1. All Primary Attributes +5.

Seeing the results, Zex was disappointed. The stat gains were not worth the cost of upgrading. 'Or do these gains seem underwhelming because the [Demonic Noble] Class was not a Legendary class like [Agent of Death]?' When he checked, the Demonic Noble was just an 'Uncommon class'.

He shook his head and decided to try leveling up each legendary subclass once.

After the numerous prompts were over and the skills and attribute bonuses were secured, he realized that the next experience points required to level each of the three grew to 44. Leveling them up another time, the requirement grew to 444. With the trend having a digit increase after every level, he verified his suspicions that he could only afford to level each of them to level 6. By that time, the requirement will be at the 4.4 million mark for each level. He also decided to increase [Demon General] to level 10, but could not level it up further and reach the next tier. He assumed that he needed to complete a certain condition to do so.

In the end, he used up 4,281,472 Exp to get [Demon General] to level 10 and the 3 legendary subclasses to level 6 granting him 28 levels.

He also spent another 209,750 exp to level his Farmer subclass 40 times to Master Farmer Lvl 10 for the [Stamina Up] passive, letting him reach level 78. There were also other subclasses he unlocked from Edge's team after learning all their skills but they were all common to uncommon. He also found their passives to not be notable enough for now as he knew the upcoming battle was not going to be reliant on stealth. Even so, he decided to use another 42,000 Exp to level the Ninja, Assassin, Thief, and Rogue classes each to level 10, giving him another 40 levels, reaching a whopping level 118.

Deciding to deny himself of the urge to go level up like crazy, he saved the rest of his experience for emergencies and left the subclass page.

After another series of prompts, he decided to check his status window in simple view.

"I think this is enough for now. Time to plan." Zex was satisfied with the explosive increase of his level and attributes. He was confident he could at least survive in the upcoming battle. He decided not to invest his unspent points and the repressed evil fragment for now as he still did not have a clear goal. In case of emergencies, he might need to exchange those fragments for free attribute points. Spending any limited resource wantonly is never wise for a gamer. More so when he does not have any skill that heavily scales off of any primary attribute.

After reading all his available skills and planning how to maximize them in the upcoming battle, he spent the remaining time scouting the area and leaving black flames as sentries. There was a chance that those heroes would sense them but at least he could observe them for a time, alerting him to their positions. If not, he could simply use the black flames to gain new skills.

Aside from that, he formulated countless plans and scenarios of how the battle would play out.

In his previous life, he was always more of a planner than a doer. Coupled with his paranoia, he maintained a low profile and was behind the scenes most of the time, observing people's habits, behavior, and tells. It was part of his job as an engineering supervisor and then a manager later on.

These traits, paired with the experiences he had, resulted in him having a lot of trust and commitment issues.

This time around, he wished to be more impulsive, more involved. After all, this was a second chance at life despite the circumstances he had to face. Not like he has a better choice. At the least, if he did not do anything, his newfound master might kill him.

Many days later within his Mind Space, an alert from his sentries jolted him from his meditation and training.

"They have arrived."

Level 10 to Level 118 real quick! Is this 'Inflation RPG'? It even beat those lvl 1 crook to lvl 100 mafia boss mobile game advertisements, right?
