Escape!

Here we are in front of some really old people who I perceived to be their leaders. They appear as a council of some sort.

Unlike the other villagers that wore nothing but just a little clothing to cover genitalia, this group wore more clothing to the extent that only their faces were left open.

None of them had pretty faces though. They might as well have covered them up too.

The council started speaking like they believe we understood them when they decided what to be done with us.

"Kahl Jiul Kahinj Hibal…"

Whatever that is, it doesn't sound good

We all knew that the conclusion they were reaching wasn't a merciful one. Still, we waited silently as the trial proceeded, waiting for the looming fate to be decided upon by the strangers in the room.

"Kalhui Makhjad Drakos Dihjyui!" The lead elder finally declared, slamming his staff on the ground.

The others nodded their head in agreement, signaling the conclusion of the trial.

After the decision had been made, the two half-naked men forcibly made us follow them, once again leading us to an unknown destination.

The entire thing began to creep me out, and a bad feeling troubled my heart. Call it a leader's instinct, but I just knew at this point that it was time to leave.

I've had just about enough of this

I signaled to Fredrick who was the brute strength of our group, shooting him my usual decisive glance. Taking the hint, he nodded immediately and responded by instantly breaking off the binds that were tightly restrained his arms.

Without a moment's hesitation, he proceeded to knock out the two villagers we were following, before they could make sense of the sudden occurrence, making short work of them.

Impressive, as expected of our muscle, I couldn't help thinking.

After he was done with the two guards, Fredrick made his way to each of us and set us free. When he finished, he used the ropes which previously bound us to tie up the nearly naked men.

"There's no time, let's go!" I silently instructed.

Despite how covert I wanted our operation to seem, we, unfortunately, attracted unwanted attention. I heard the alarmed voices of other guards as they steadily approached our location.

"Shit! No room to even breathe, uh?", I cursed.

We managed to get off the trails of the other armed men, navigating our way out of wherever they had taken us to.

Before long we had progressed a fair distance from the village settlement and would soon successfully escape from their territory.

However, at this point, it seems that the villagers were very angry and became set to kill us immediately.

Like they didn't intend to do so before, I mused.

My curiosity remained concerning what our fate would have been, but I didn't have the luxury to complete my contemplation.

On the bright side, didn't need to be afraid now that we had gotten our equipment back from the holding facility they kept them in.

Gemaine managed to guess where they were before we left the village area, finding the very expensive items in a shabby hut, most likely for valuable objects considered spoils of war.

However, seeing as I have always been against needless killing, I convinced everyone to make a run for it and to regroup.

A group of savage, misguided folks aren't worth our professional effort, am I right?.

"Huff… Huff… Haa…" I panted severely.

I thought I wouldn't make it, but once again fate made a way.

Damn! Those villagers are tough and stubborn!

Not dealing with my pursuers directly turned out to be a much bigger issue than just exterminating them. Certainly, my teammates would also feel the same way.

I would say it's a miracle that I managed to escape them, I hope everyone is ok.

After I managed to settle down under the abode of an unbelievable huge tree, I tried calling everyone through my walkie-talkie.

''Hello, is anyone there", I asked hoping for a response and fortunately, I did.

"Leader?" I heard Fredrick's husky voice.

"It's Sasha," Another subordinate responded.

"Germaine here…"I heard him speak grudgingly.

"Jack reporting."

…..

Everyone signaled back, confirming that they were all safe.

Whew, no causality this time too! I heaved in relief.

Communicating the details to my teammates, I decided that we were to regroup where the Helicopter left us.

"Roger!" They all responded uniformly
