Epic Of The Clonemancer

I opened my eyes, expecting the after life, but I instead find myself 3 years in the past, on the day the apocalypse started. Horridly mutated humans and animals roam, normal humans consumed by greed, and something bigger, bigger than you and me. But, all of this, for me, is a chance to get a better class, a chance to live longer... A chance to fix the world

Where to?

"So what now?" Jayden asks out of the blue, I look up at him questioningly and beckon for him to continue, "I mean what is out game plan, do we stick around here, go out into the world, hunt, save people or what" He finishes.

I ponder that for a bit before answering, "I dont know man, I dont think we could afford to save people, we might be somewhat strong but we have no way to just spawn food"

"We might be able to eat the monsters but I doubt people would be comfortable with that, since most of them are technically human..." I finish.

"The only thing I can see working is mutated animals, we might be able to farm them safely with a class that can control them, but all in all having alot of people working together would be beneficial even if it is more work." Jayden nods a my reasoning and we continue eating in silence.

I place down my finished food and decide to say something, "We should still bunker down on campus, I figure it would make a good base, we find people who are still alive, and collect all the food in the vicinity"

Jayden finishes what he was eating and leans back on his chair, "So are we going to look for people now?" He asks, I nod "Yeah, but lets rest for a bit before that" I say and we sit around for about 20 minutes before getting ready to leave.

"I think we should head to the dorms, there should be some people there, and most of them have storages of food" Jayden suggests, I nod at that suggestion and take a look around.

We managed to store most of the stuff that wont spoil fast, so we can abandon this place, but I dont know a good place to gather people to stay, the gym would be a good place, its spacious and... yeah that's pretty much all it has going for it.

But that's enough, "Ok so we saw people heading into the gym, so we go to the gym and then the dorms." I say and Jayden nods.

I create a clone and hand him a backpack with food, I had tried making a clone with a backpack on, but sadly it only duped the backpack and not what was in it, I still dont know the specifics of what the skill copies and what it doesn't.

But it seems food is one of the things it leaves out, if it didn't the class would easily become 5 star, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Maybe when I unlock some of the other skills it will let me clone food.

Shaking my head, I open the door leading to the campus cafe, unlike every other part of campus, the cafe is actually pretty clean, there is some blood but all that is by the door leading to outside.

I continue forward and make sure nothing is there, I gesture for Jayden to follow and we head over to the door, I notice its still a bit open, and again there is alot of blood on the outside.

"I noticed there is alot of blood but a clear lack of monsters and people" Jayden says and I nod at that, I actually dont know what's going on, there are less monsters than they should be, since people are dying left and right which makes more.

There is probably a monster that is killing other monsters and taking bodies for something, if this is the cade then that is not a good thing, monsters that do that deliberately are usually really smart.

And smart monsters aren't a good thing, "Yeah its really suspicious, we better look out" I respond.

I look up at the sky, that has a few flying monsters up there, most are actually struggling to fly but that makes sense, they dont have bodies that have taken millions of years to become near perfect.

And they dont have the instincts that are ingrained in normal flying animals, so they are pretty much winging it, but there are some mutated birds that are doing far better.

"We should also be careful of those, flying monsters aren't going to be fun to deal with." I say, "So the gym isn't far from here, we might be able to just sprint for it, but I think that's the only thing we can do" I say.

The gym is actually connected to our sports field and I can see it from here, you just have to go past a few buildings then a huge flight of stairs, across the entire field and then you are there.

Its times like this I wish I went to a less prestigious university, the entire campus is huge and things are separated by open space, mini parks, huge untouched trees and so on.

So now instead of going through the somewhat safe interior we have to run around where flying monsters roam, and as I have said flying monsters are a hassle to deal with without ranged abilities.

"So are we just going to make a run for it?" Jayden asks and I nod,

"Lets go".

"Calm down students! I'm sure the government is on their way to help us" a bespectacled man fitted into a suit shouts to a group for people filling what seems to be a gymnasium.

"I advise we keep calm and not make much noise, you wouldn't want those monsters finding us" He continues which manages to quite everyone down.

There are about 30 people muttering to themselves, some just leaning against walls with their eyes closed, some pacing around and others who seem on the brink of madness.

"How long are we just going to wait in here?" Someone shouts back, and the man just smiles wryly, "Yeah, nothing even works, no calling, no internet, no nothing!"

"Were screwed" And all of this manages to get people to make noise again.
