Epic Of The Clonemancer

I opened my eyes, expecting the after life, but I instead find myself 3 years in the past, on the day the apocalypse started. Horridly mutated humans and animals roam, normal humans consumed by greed, and something bigger, bigger than you and me. But, all of this, for me, is a chance to get a better class, a chance to live longer... A chance to fix the world

Class

[------------------[]------------------]

My vision returns and I find myself in a void littered with stars, 'Goddamnit, I didn't even get the chance to plan out what would be the best.' I think to myself, I shake my head and look around.

As I do the stars that were previously really far away move alot closer, a translucent blue screen appears in front of me, and has only a single sentence etched on it.

[If you had to survive the end of the world, what would you do so with?]

[00:15]

The sentence that caused the downfall of many, those who thought this was a dream and just chose something simple, those who were careless and chose things that sounded cool but were the epitome of useless.

And the idiots who, thought it was dangerous and chose nothing at all.

I look around quickly, stars disappearing one by one, showing that someone has chosen it and it is above 2 stars, whenever I hover over a star I somehow learn its name but nothing else.

[00:11]

'What should I choose? Think Leo, what good class do I know the name of?' I rack my brain for a split second before looking around and finding the necromancer class, a 5 star class, that belonged to a top 10 ranker.

But just as I reach out for it, it disappears meaning its original user claimed it. 'Shit!' I curse and look around once again, and notice stars disappearing at faster rates, I look around some more, and find my best bet.

[00:03]

[Clonemancer]

All the better choices are gone, and I have absolutely no time, I just hope the class isn't one of those 'sounds kinda good, but sucks ass' class, I reach out to it, and the star shatters before all the shards fly into my body.

[00:1]

[✰✰✰✰ Star class, <Clonemancer> has been chosen, good luck]

I smile at my obscene luck, and curse myself for not being faster, maybe I could of gotten a higher starred class, because there is probably a reason why this class was never heard of.

Maybe the user was an actual idiot and died early before they could shine, or maybe it was never chosen and instead given to a monster, or maybe they were just cowards and never went out to gain strength.

I open, my eyes and sit up from the stairs, I apparently fell down some while out cold, luckily I didn't get injured, I look around and spot Jayden slumped on his chair, I stand up and walk back a little, this was something that apparently happened alot, some people didn't wake up and turned into monsters right in front of other people.

Jayden may of survived my first go at this, but something may be different this time around, he might have some random cold and his body became just a little bit too weak to survive.

He groans before instantly opening his eyes, "Jayden? You good man?" I ask, "Dude? What the fuck was that!?" He screams, jumping to his feet.

"Calm down, did you pick something?" I ask, the most important question, if he didn't pick anything I cannot afford to protect him, it may be cruel but I'd rather not die.

"Pick what? That dream thing? You had it too?" He asks, I nod and he takes a deep breath, "What was it for?" He asks.

"Well, it asked what we would use to survive the apocalypse, so I assume the end of the world is happening?" I feign ignorance and walk over to the window of the classroom, luckily our classroom is on the third floor so only flying monsters or maybe ones capable of climbing can get to us.

Jayden walks over to me, and witnesses the massacre happening outside, the entire campus is already littered with bodies, there are grotesque, fleshy, disfigured monsters of various sized moving all over the place.

There are bird like creatures with red highlights littering the parts without feathers, those are some of the mutated animals, and there are alot more.

Flames in the distance, most probably from cars and planes that crashed while everyone was class picking, that's actually how alot of people died at the very start.

People trying and failing to fight back, "What the fuck... are? Or were those humans?" I hear Jayden mutter, he is barely affected by the sight, something that happened last time I was in this situation.

I was the one panicking the first time round, and he was the reason I didn't die of a fucking heart attack, "I think so, but Jayden, what class did you choose? Please tell me you chose something, cus I think we will need them" I say praying he chose something, even if it isn't combat related as long as it is useful, I can keep him around.

Maybe a blacksmith, or a maybe niche class like a technopath, especially a blacksmith though, that class was only 2 stars but the number of people who had it was really low, people just weren't interested in it.

Which meant we had to rely on people who monopolized the weapons and armour they made, or make our own which usually didn't work out well.

"Uhm, I chose a random one, the timer was running out, its called... uh... <Fleshmancer>? It said it was 4 stars..." He says, and my brain just shuts down, he got the very same class of the monster that killed me?

Either that's just a big coincidence or something is going on, I didn't do anything that influenced his choice other than rushing of to the bathroom, is that truly enough to make him choose something else? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Shaking my head I look over to him, "Good, I chose <Clonemancer>, I also chose it at random, but lets barricade the door for now, and then make plans on what to do." I say and he nods.

"Lets move the professors desk up" Jayden suggests and I nod, and we work together to haul the desk over the door, we then start moving student desks, until we have a barricade that will probably be instantly destroyed but it makes us a little safer.

"Ok we need to figure out how to access these 'classes'" Jayden says as he nervously sits down on some chairs. I am also nervous dont get me wrong but I am doing a little better than he is.
