Lively Sorrow

Turning the page to my homework assignment, I tossed my pencil forward while looking onto the ceiling and recalling what happened earlier in the morning…

Exhausting a heavy breath, I stood up from my room and headed towards the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. Gulping it down as if I were drinking the most delicious beverage on Earth, I threw the glass over to the wall in a fit of rage.

Punching the wall as I felt the full impact on my fist as it struck with all I had, my mind went blank.

Shortly afterwards, I collapsed backwards onto the kitchen floor and sat in silence as the cold sound of the motor of the refrigerator echoed in the dim background. As I gently rested my head, I ran my fingers through my hair as I covered my gaze.

Resting my head onto the cold wall, I looked up while breathing and exhaling the frustration of the day.

~(Ten hours earlier…)

Closing the door to my apartment, I turned the key and made my way to school as I walked under the morning, lit sunrise.

Stopping at a light, I crossed the street and walked for half an hour until I arrived at school. Greeting Ms. Villa at the gate, she was a new counselor that had arrived a week before. Giving a faint smile, I walked past her as her words fell short through the volume in my earphones.

As I walked further into the school, I met up with my friends as they were standing around discussing the party we went to a few days ago.

"Hey, what's up? " My voice echoed in my earphones as I heard half of what they were saying.

"Look! You know how at the party, I was gonna get lucky and finally get laid with this, smoking hot chick right?! But, before I could take her upstairs, her girlfriends showed up and I was about to, no lie, have the best night of my life… "

Smiling, I asked what happened next and as he looked around at the rest of us, he scoffed and spoke.

"She… uh… She was a he… "

"Pfft-"

"Hey! I was freaking confusing as hell! Shut the hell up! "

We all then bursted out laughing at his story as his misfortune made it easy to laugh.

"Ha… you seriously didn't think any girl would come at you? Dude, you are not only trash at picking up chicks, you suck at talking to chicks, too! "

After hearing then talk about their own problems, I turned my gaze as my focus was shifted between then and somewhere else

"Yeah, you being able to talk to them should have been a red flag, bro. "

Looking over to my right, I noticed Angela walking through the school gates.

"I've gotta go, see you guys later. " Half asleep when I spoke, I left while keeping my gaze on, Angela.

"Oh… see. Why can't you be like him? "

"Lucky prick. "

Catching up behind her, I came I  behind her and surprised her by giving her a hug. Picking her up as she screamed in surprise, I set her down as it was the first and last time I would try that.

"Oh! Don't do that! Scared me half to death. " Her cherry filled voice only made her sound more adorable as I was memorized by it.

"Sorry… I'll keep that in mind next time. " Staring, she lowered her gaze as it turned into a sour expression. "Hey, what's wrong? "

Lifting her head and looking around, she took my hand and lead me to the side of the bathrooms where we could have some privacy.

"What's going on? " Looking at me with her signature gaze, she spoke as if she was mourning a family member. "Ange-"

"I want to end our relationship… " Staring at her as she held a tearful glare that carried more sincere emotion than anything she had ever said before, I froze.

"W-what… are you talking about? "

"I'm talking about ending this… us! I want out, Azel. "

"W-what are -" Not giving me enough time to comprehend what had happened, she continued.

"I'm breaking up with you, Azel. " Exhausting a shaky breath, I waited for a minute as I tried to process what she just said.

"Why? What did I do-" Meeting her gaze as she looked down and away, she spoke in a half dead tone.

"Its… Its me, Azel. I want to live my life… alone. Okay. "

Turning around and pacing as I could have lost my temper should it had been anyone else. Silence befell us both until I spoke.

"So… what? You gonna leave me? " Angry and irritated while heartbroken, I continued. " Fine. If the last few months fleet wring, I apologize… Its over, you ended it. Let's go our separate ways. "

Shaking, she looked away while feeling my sorrow and when I tried to touch her, she shrugged as if she thought I was going to hurt her.

"Wow… okay. Goodbye, Angela… thanks for the last six months. "

Walking out and heading around the corner, I was out of her sight and leaned onto the wall as I tried to keep my composure. Remembering my memories of her over and over in my head, I stopped myself from turning her the center of my rage and relaxed as I headed to class.

As the bell rang, I focused on my work and cleared my head. Sitting on my seat, a friend tapped my shoulder as he asked what happened between me and Angela.

"Nothing… she just wanted to talk. " After a moment of silence, I turned my head slightly and asked why they were suddenly quiet.

"Don't overreact dude, but, at the party last Sunday…" As his reaction turned away, he then continued. " No… I can't tell him. "

"What… tell me what? What's going on? "

"Dude, we saw your girl getting into Deans ride… the rich, douche that thinks he's the center of the world? That guy. " Sitting back and nodding, I subconsciously broke my pencil and asked if they knew if he came to school today.

"W-wait, dude… just relax. " Turning my gaze, they instantly pieced together what had happened and tried to stop me.

"Is he here or not! " Interrupting class as I raised my voice in anger. "Dude… chill! "

"H-he's here. Saw him walking to class earlier. " Turning my gaze as I stood up and bolted out of class, my anger was directed solely on, Dean.

I made my way across campus with a target in mind. The local security guards noticed and tried to stop me. Having caught me, I had immobilized the hell out of them while I continued walking. The moment I reached his class, he saw me and stood up as he knew why I was here. Heading over to him, he instinctively threw the first punch and we fought until I landed a blow onto his stomach.

Collapsing into the ground, I spoke while crouching down.

"You know… I remember hearing rumors about you. Yeah, when I first transferred here a few months ago. I easily told you adore causing drama for the hell of it… here at school and outside no less. Huh… When you had your eyes on me the first day I got here, oh, I bet you thought I was an easy score… you thought about me being the perfect target… but when I realized what an amazing girl Angela was, I didn't question anything until it was too late. "

Grabbing him by the hair, I looked at his smiling face and grew more angry as I left before I did anything I may live to regret. Leaving the class, I walked outside and was quickly restrained by security as I was held with a taser to my chest.

~(Five hours ago…)

"You have any idea how much damage you caused today, Azel? " Staying silent behind the table as my older sister had arrived from work to take me home.

"Keep him in check Ms. Deroe… should we have another incident like this, and he'll be suspended or even expelled. " Hearing the principals voice irritated me, however, I made no expression as Is as hung up on Angela.

"Of course. " Leaving, I got an earful from, Reya, she took me back to my apartment.

Closing the door, she began to speak frantically.

"What the hell is wrong with you! You were doing so well the last six months and, and now this?! " Ignoring her as I washed my face and changed shirts in the bathroom.

"Unbelievable! You have a hearing with the district on Friday, now! Ugh… you relay have nothing? Nothing?! To say to me… Fine! I'll swing by to pick you up anyway…  until then, don't leave your apartment, for your sake as well as mine. You have no idea how many favors I had to pull to get the charges lowered to only house arrest, Azel. "

She then scoffed and left the apartment as she headed back to work at the district attorney's office. I then sat down on my couch while swiping through my phone and deciding to delete all her pictures from it.

As I reached a particular picture of us at the school's swimming pool late at night, I began to feel my anger fade as her smile calmed me even as I knew she was in on the prank. As a result, I shut off my phone and headed over to my room where I began to study school work in order to take my mind off today.
