As they were moved towards class, Cheng Qi took out a file from his backpack. "This is the file having information about the project." She took it from his hand while he continued.
"I have selected a few topics which no one had taken and had added basic information regarding each one that could help us with finalizing. I forgot to send you this yesterday."
For the matter of fact, he knew well whether he indeed forgot or intentionally did not send. Though she said that it would be fine to use her number, he didn't want to. Often his friends play weird games and in those games, sometimes dares were like sharing the number of the girl you recently messaged and most of the time, basically saying an absurd thing.
Doing that with others is fun but he didn't want to cause trouble to someone who had stayed away from these things.
From the experience, he had only gotten to share the number as a dare which never had been a problem because apart from his mother and elder sisters, he never contacted anyone. They never had to do a duo project before so he did not have the other girls' number too, it was the first time.
Zhao Yuhui apologetically looked at him. "Thank you and sorry for making you do all the work."
"No one ever said sorry to me about how much you have since yesterday." He wiped the fake tears.
"But honestly, things that I have done till now are nothing. The real work is yet to start."
As they were going forward, they were unaware of the chaos they were leaving behind. Zhao Yuhui was walking with someone! That was hard to digest...
After all, unknown to her, she was more famous for always staying by herself in university rather than for being a celebrity.
Moreover, there was a boy beside her. The same thought crossed through everyone's mind like how it had happened through ages after seeing a loner girl out of nowhere walking with a boy...were they dating?
That was even harder to digest...
"It is almost time for the class so we can't discuss it now, right?" Zhao Yuhui inquired as she saw the time on her phone.
"Don't worry, we can talk about it after classes. We only have two classes to attend."
Zhao Yuhui curiously asked him, "How do you know about this?"
Cheng Qi without any delay answered. "Group."
"There is a group for that?"
"Yes, didn't you know about that?" For a second, Cheng Qi had forgotten her identity and he asked dubiously.
"No. I am not there."
And he remembered. "Oh, right! Because of your identity, university management wouldn't have provided your number."
Zhao Yuhui nodded along. "They had asked me if they could share my number but I was hesitating so they took that as a refusal."
"You are a public figure, if your privacy gets disturbed in any way because of it, the responsibility will fall under the university. Maybe because of that, they didn't force you."
"That's right."
Zhao Yuhui and Cheng Qi together entered the lecture hall, and the chattering going on inside was instantly put to douse unbeknownst to the both who were still talking merrily.
Zhao Yuhui...for the first time, wasn't alone! Most of them rubbed their eyes because they simply couldn't trust them. Was that Cheng Qi? How did that happen?
Yesterday, they were shocked however today, they didn't even know what to name this emotion.
They weren't just talking but also laughing.
Under their eyes, Cheng Qi spoke something to her and she nodded before making her way up. Instead of going to the last row like she always did, this time she sat in one of the vacant seats in the middle. Neither too far nor too near.
Whereas Cheng Qi, he finally uplifted his eyelashes and detected the silence of the room, even a dropped pin could be heard. However, his stare worked magic for them and they were out of the spell that was created.
But now, a choir of gasps echoed through the room. They didn't see things! It was true, right? They turned their eyes to Zhao Yuhui who seemed busy going through some file.
It shall be.
Cheng Qi scanned the class to find his group of friends. However, the moment he spotted them, he thought twice about whether to go there or not. Among them, only Xu Dong was casually leaning by the desk but apart from him...all of them looked in a daze.
Sh**! Another problem!
The moment Xu Dong saw them entering, he too wanted to join but did not want to make Zhao Yuhui uncomfortable. It was already enough that she was talking with someone!
Nevertheless, Cheng Qi figured out that it was best to go to them rather than go somewhere else to sit. Praying earnestly for his well-being, he moved to them and greeted them like usual. "What's up, guys! You left me behind today."
That went unheeded. They continued staring at him as if he had grown two horns, making him feel awkward. He stared at Xu Dong who was obviously, indifferent to his eye signals. He only smiled at him as he showed him thumbs-up.
He and his low EQ!
Cheng Qi continued standing there thinking what to say next. When no one replied, Xu Dong finally paid attention to the weird look everyone was passing to Cheng Qi. They still were not out of that freeze zone?
Xu Dong stood up, went to Cheng Qi, kept his arms over his shoulder and directed his eyes full of sympathy at their friends.
With deep regret and as dramatically as he could, he spoke, "What you guys just saw...was true. It wasn't a hallucination!"
Wasn't a hallucination...
Now, their focus was shifted to Xu Dong. Under normal circumstances, he had always been the one to show the extreme reactions however now, why he looked most normal among them? Unless...
Xu Dong wanted to burn their insides with jealousy and undoubtedly, he was successful in that. No matter the kind of expression he had on his face, Xu Dong was grinning and dancing from inside.
With a start, Cheng Qi was pulled down by his collar. Being held face to face, one of them hissed. "How you talked to her?"
Cheng Qi broke himself through that and sat down before throwing him a weird expression and spoke in a low voice. "What do you mean by how I talked to her? We are supposed to do a project together!"
"Did you approach her?"
"Who else would then?"
"Did you guys talk for long?"
"..."
"Do you think she would like it if we want to talk to her?"
"..."
"How is her voice? Is it how it comes on television? Clear and sweet as an angel?" Another one asked with twinkling eyes.
"Stop talking stupidly! Have you ever heard of someone's voice being different from the live interviews they hold?"
