Sammy's back hurt and her feet were throbbing. She yearned to just be able to sit down for just a few minutes but had no choice but to try to push on. She had to try and get a little money from this little task she had been given. The shelter provided a roof over her head but didn't provide any food. She had tried to find her way to the soup kitchen they had told her about but by the time she located it, they had closed for the morning.
Getting a job at one of the restaurants and diners would have been ideal because then she might have lived in the luxury of being able to benefit from a meal or two. However, getting a job there had proved harder than she had anticipated. Sammy had tried four diners and all had either told her they weren't actively hiring or had told her they would get back to her.
While walking past a laundromat she had glimpsed a notice for 'Help Wanted.' Not wasting any time she had gotten in to make an enquiry about the job.
