Chapter 25: Still Breathing

Retracing their steps, she walked back to the facility's entrance. The nurse's station was empty. Sammy glanced around but couldn't see any signs of a nurse or employee to inquire about the doctor.

She walked to an open double door. The room she found herself in looked like the common room. It was empty except for a woman that was sitting at a table at the far end of the room. Sammy made a bee-line for her, mentally noting how huge the room actually was.

"Hi. I am looking for, Doctor Ray. Do you know where I can find her?"

The woman looked up at her with tired eyes. She looked like she hadn't slept in ages.

"He is on leave. I am standing in for him. Doctor Chin. How may I help you?"

Sammy shifted her weight from one leg to the next. She was so used to her old doctor that she felt a bit lost in having to start building a new relationship with a new doctor.

"My name is Samantha Jackson. My father, Ronald Jackson is a resident here. I.." Chin cut her off.
