2 The Naked Man

At the moment…

The cold air brushed through Evie's skin, slightly awakening her from what she felt like was the deepest sleep she has ever experienced.

All the aches in her sore muscles were ‌gone, making her feel invigorated to do whatever she needs to do for the day.

She drew in a deep breath, opened her eyes, and gazed up at the clear cloudless sky.

She was planning to go to one of Hawaii's prestigious beaches after her day's work. It seemed like her dream has finally come true.

However, she felt something was wrong.

Birds which were chirping merrily nearby filled her ears. But there was no sound of waves or people laughing as they enjoyed the waters.

Adding to her suspicions, her back also itched. And it's not because of sand. It's because of the grass underneath that's tickling it, which scent drifted in her nose.

She immediately opened her eyes and sat up, knowing that she was not on a seashore.

Her pupils dilated as she saw her situation. It's not just the place where she was that was different. But her appearance.

She didn't have any clothes in any part of her body at all!

In a flash, Evie's extremities flew to cover her nakedness while her alert eyes roamed around the area where she was.

As she did so, she noticed something which bewildered her even more. There was someone else sleeping beside her.

It was not Ms. Huang. But a handsome man who was as stark naked as she was.

He seemed to be a foot taller than her, approximately 200 cm. If it wasn't for the rising and falling of his muscular abdomen, Evie would think that he was a statue carved out of perfection.

His physique was nothing compared to his angelic facial features. His aquiline nose was perfect ‌at the center of his angular face.

'Maybe I'm already dead and I'm here in heaven with a sleeping angel.' That thought flew to her mind. But she quickly shoved it away.

'The impact of the plane crash must have been devastating, that it ripped our clothes off. I must have been unconscious the whole time. That is why I couldn't remember anything.'

Her golden-flecked eyes darted to the surroundings again. Around her were weathered trees rising out of the earth and brushing against the sky. They seemed to be 400 feet tall.

The winds rustled through the leaves, making her sniff the scent of pines and wildflowers. Her feet felt the rocks and roots underneath the grass as she stood up, barefooted.

She searched the grass for her cellphone to track where she was. But she couldn't find it.

'If I'm not mistaken, it will take us 10 hours and 25 minutes to reach Honolulu International. But we are only midair for approximately four hours. Does that mean I am in a forest in Micronesia?' her finger flew to her parted lips.

As she recalled the chaotic flight again, her heart palpitated.

Evie looked around her for signs of Ms. Huang, the AMT Team, or other survivors. Or any parts of the plane that have landed in that location. But she didn't completely leave the area, thinking there would be cannibals anywhere.

Seeing none of what she expected, she worked on getting herself clothed first. She pulled out some vines that hang from the trees and weaved them together to cover even just her private parts.

After that, her attention darted to the shapely man again. He was still sleeping.

'We could not have sex,' she drew in a deep breath as she thought, 'I'm not the type of person who sleeps in the same bed with a stranger. Or grass.'

Then she touched her body as she muttered, 'I don't feel any sore part of my body, too.'

She felt like she had no choice but to wake him up, thinking that he could have an idea about what was going on. Slowly, she crept to the sleeping man and decided to disturb his sleep.

But before she could utter a word, his eyes suddenly opened up. They were a beautiful shade of emerald green. However, they were not as kind-looking as his appearance when he was sleeping.

They appeared alarmed and cautious. And deadly.
