Chapter 1

Xiao Wen is the son-in-law of the renowned Xiao family, one of the most well known families in the city. He had married into the family due to being asked by Xiao Lin to marry her to which he agreed since he liked her. But her family didn't like him that much due to his meridians not being there since he was a kid. He also isn't that smart or strong which is why he helps his wife by doing the chores and lives in his in-laws house.

But now he is in a dilemma as he is in his room with Lin as divorce papers are on the table as he has his eyes wide when he saw it.

"Why so suddenly? I mean, I don't think I ever did anything to warrant this." Wen said to her shocked.

Xiao Wen is a man in his early twenties with black hair and blue eyes and a fair skin with a medium level face and a slim build. He is currently dressed in a white t-shirt under a blue shirt and black pants as he is looking at his wife.

"Look Wen, I will admit that you have done whatever I had told you to. However, the reputation of the Xiao family has started to decline and we need to do something to reclaim our reputation." Lin said to him with a sigh.

Lin is a beautiful woman with long jet-black hair and red eyes, along with fair skin and a beautiful face. She also has great curves and a nice figure which would entice other men. She is currently dressed in a red expensive dress which has a short skirt which is hugging her body as she is sitting on her bed.

"But why the divorce?" Wen asked him surprised.

"Well, our family has got a preposition from the Zhang family and as the oldest child I have the responsibility to take care of my family." Lin said causing his eyes to widen.

"A-Are you saying that you're going to divorce and marry a guy from the Zhang family?" Wen asked her with a disbelieving tone.

"Zhang Huan is the heir to the Zhang family and him marrying a member of the Xiao family will let us get back the reputation that we had lost." Lin said to him impassively

"But but, I'm you husband Lin. You-you can't just tell me to do a divorce so suddenly." Wen said to her as he sat on the couch.

"There isn't room for debate Wen. You must sign the divorce papers so that my family can regain our position." Lin said to him seriously.

"But, isn't there another way to do this?" Wen asked her with a hurt face.

"I'm trying to end this peacefully Wen. If it were my parents or sister then they would've beat you and made you sign it. You know that without your ability to cultivate, you aren't very needed in my family." Lin said to him seriously.

"But science has advanced and hardly many actually cultivate Lin, even you are having a hard time cultivating." Wen said to her as she glared at him.

"The Xiao family has had cultivators for a few decades and just because most of the people has forgotten about cultivation and many of the top families have stopped cultivation doesn't mean that we or I would. Now sign it Wen." Lin said to him.

"But Lin..." Wen said to her as he tried to reason with her.

"Don't make this harder on yourself Wen. Just sign the papers and I will give you 100,000 Yuan as compensation." Lin said to him with a serious and impassive face.

Wen opened his mouth but no words came out of his mouth. He knew the look on her face and knew that she won't budge from her decision. And so with a heavy heart he signed the divorce papers under her gaze before he gave it to her.

"Thanks for agreeing with this Wen. I will give you the money as I had promised." Lin said to him as he looked downcast.

After that he left the room with Lin following behind him. He walked down the stairs as he saw his in-laws, her parents in-law and sister in-law as they were looking at him with frowns. But then their faces turned into smiling ones when they saw the signed divorce papers in Lin's hand.

"Finally, you are free from him!" The little sister, Xiao Ling said excitedly as she hugged her sister.

Xiao Ling looks almost like her sister with the difference being that she has brown hair which she inherited from her father.

"You finally made the right decision Lin." The father, Xiao Fan said with a smile as he looked at his daughter.

Xiao Fan is a man in his middle age who has brown hair, fair skin and a few wrinkles with red eyes.

"And now we just have to complete your marriage with Zhang Huan and our family will get back our reputation and you'll finally get a husband who is truly worthy of you." The mother, Xiao Jie said with a smile.

Xiao Jie is a middle aged woman with short black hair, brown eyes, fair skin and few wrinkles on her face.

As the family were celebrating the divorce Wen was looking at their interaction with a sullen look. Xiao Fan sees his face and glared at him with a disgusted face.

"What are you staring at you trash! Get out of my house right now!" Fan said to him with a glare.

"Wait, I promised to give him 100,000 Yuan as compensation." Lin said surprising the rest of her family.

"But sister why do you need to give him money?" Ling asked her sister incredulously.

"He was my husband and he doesn't have a job of his own so I'm helping him a bit." Lin said to her.

"Just transfer it to my bank account. I know you don't have any problems with doing that." Wen said with a sullen tone.

"As you wish." Lin said to him as she went to do it.

"You, how dare you take advantage of my daughter." Jie said angrily as she glared at Wen who just sighed at her behaviour.

Wen waited as Lin was done with it as he got the message on his phone. Lin then walked and stood in front of him as she has a serious look.

"With this you are no longer a part of this family. Chen Wen, thanks for your understanding. Now please leave my house." Lin said to him with a serious face.

Whether Wen saw it or not is a mystery as he nodded to her words and turned around.

"Congratulations on your future wedding. Hope you have a good life with you new husband." Wen said before he walked away from her towards the entrance of the house before she exited it.

He however turned his head and got a brief glance of Lin before he walked out and closed the door as the Xiao family watched.
