Chapter 19

After the grave keeper had moved away from the two women after he saw the looks that they were giving each other they were left alone while they looked at each other's eyes.

"Why did you come here?" Yan asked her seriously after she had wiped her tears away.

"I... I saw Wen a few hours ago at my company so I wanted to come check." Lin said to her as she decided to be truthful with her.

Yan's eyes widened when she heard that as she grabbed ahold of Lin's shoulders and looked at her deadly seriously, catching the woman off guard from the expression on the girl's face.

"Why did he go to your company?" Yan asked with an intense stare.

"I don't actually know. I just saw him from the footage in the security cameras. And... he helped my company from being in trouble due to his intervention." Lin said to her as she recalled it.

"Why would he help you? Even if he did come back to life, why would he want to help you?" Yan asked confused at hearing the woman's words.

'That is also something that is confusing me.' Lin thought to herself as she looked at the younger girl.

"Do you know where he is?" Yan asked the next question immediately.

"No. If I did then I wouldn't have any reason to come here would I?" Lin said to the girl with a shake of her head.

"That's true. But... then how do we find him?" Yan said getting sad.

"We?" Lin said as she looked at the girl questioningly.

"Well, you want to find my brother and I want to as well. So, maybe we could try together?" Yan said to her a bit nervously.

"Why would I need your help anyways?" Lin asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, there is a high chance that my brother will not talk to you so maybe having me tag along could help calm him down a bit so that you can talk with him as well." Yan said to her as she thought about it on the spot.

Lin thought about it and did see the logic in the girls words.

'Maybe she's right. There's a chance that he might not talk to me. I did start to treat him badly sometime after our marriage.' Lin thought to herself as she remembered how he was when she had told him about the divorce.

She did see the expression on his face and knew that he would be suffering due to it but she decided to prioritise her family reputation rather than him and so had divorced him. She wasn't sure that he might be willing to talk to her after that.

"Alright, you do have a point. Then until we find Wen we are partners." Lin said to the girl as she raised her hand to her.

"Of course." Yan said as she grabbed her hand and shook it.

'Wen/Big Brother, I'll find you.' Lin and Yan thought to themselves as they looked at each other.

After that the two worked with each other to try and find Wen, but due to the great population of the city of Nantong and its size it was proving to be quite the challenge, something which they had already known as finding one person amongst the many others in the city is not going to be easy.

Right now the two of them are in a room that was bought by Lin for sometime as they sat on the couch and rested a bit.

"Did you find anything?" Lin asked the younger girl.

"No. Even though I tried to ask the people it is very difficult. No one knows about my brother." Yan said as she sighed.

"Well, we weren't that open about our marriage." Lin said as she did look a bit embarrassed.

"Why though? I admit that my brother wasn't... much... But he is a very honest guy and from how he talked about you, he really did like you." Yan said to her.

"What did he say about me?" Lin asked her a bit curiously as she wanted to know how he felt about her.

'I was curious about what he thought about me.' Lin thought to herself as she looked at the girl.

"Big brother told me about how during his time in school he didn't have many friends and about how you would stand up for him against the others. He said that it was that time that he gained a crush on you." Yan said with a nostalgic look on her face.

'I remember that.' Lin thought to herself as she remembered that moment.

"He was very happy when he became your husband. He said that you were the most beautiful woman he had seen in his life and wanted to help you in any way he can." Yan said as she frowned at her own words.

"Is... that so." Lin said slowly when she heard that.

'He really did love me huh. And I just spat on his face. And Zhang Huan, he is more materialistic than I had imagined. And he has been after my body for a long time now.' Lin thought to herself as she didn't like the man much.

She had only married him because she didn't want the reputation of her family to plummet, but she doesn't like the man himself. He always has something to say about himself and how great he is and she was getting tired of his many great accomplishments that he had done.

"My brother really loved you because you stood up for him when no one else did. But, I don't understand why he helped you since you did divorce him and then remarried very quickly." Yan said as she frowned and looked at the woman.

"It was for my family okay." Lin said to her seriously.

Yan just gave a short glare before sighing and looking despondent as she thought of her brother.

"What about you?" Lin suddenly asked getting the attention of the girl.

"What about me?" Yan asked her in response.

"I had heard you two talk on your phones before and it didn't seem like you two were that close." Lin said to her seriously.

Yan flinched when she was asked that, something which Lin had noticed as she looked at the girl. Yan didn't say anything for a few moments before she sighed and looked at her.

"Ever since I was little, I was compared to my brother by our parents. I was more smart and athletic and got high scores in many things that I did. Compared to my brother, I was quite superior and was considered as a genius by my parents and I was more favoured amongst the two of us." Yan said to her as Lin listened.

'So he wasn't as good as his sister huh.' Lin thought to herself as she heard her.

"At first I was only after the praise from my parents. When we grew up and I reached middle school I was still favoured and my brother didn't mind it. He would always praise me alongside my parents for getting good grades. But when I reached high school I gained a superiority complex started to belittle him. But even after I started to treat him badly, he always treated me kindly. I just rode it and started to think of him as less than he actually was." Yan said as tears formed in her eyes as she remembered her memories.

Lin's eyes widened when she heard that as Wen never said anything about it to her. He would always praise his sister and would always act like a proud big brother.

"After the fiasco at the big company where my brother was thrown out, the news spread like wildfire and my friends also learned about it. Of course, when I saw it I called him and acted angrily with him. I berated him and called him useless and worthless. I completely disregarded how he felt and acted selfish and only thought about myself." Yan said as her tears started to fall freely now.

'That...' Lin thought to herself a bit stumped.

"And then... and then... I... I... I told him to just die." Yan said as she cried in despair.

Lin's eyes widened when she heard that as she looked at the younger girl dumbfounded. She never thought that she would actually say something like that considering how she had acted but it appears that she was wrong.

'Now I feel like I was more of an asshole for treating him badly.' Lin thought to herself as she looked at the crying girl in front of her.
