"Oh, well…" Bruce shrugged. "Since apparently, weapons have no level requirements, only status, by doing this, I should be able to equip powerful weapons very early on. As long as I obtain them…"

Regardless, after resuming his journey, Bruce noticed after fighting the third wolf that perhaps monsters were divided by territories, or they prey on other monsters' species as well. There was no plausible explanation as to why he would find only wolves in that region. If some monsters had animal features, then he should have found several types of monsters aside from wolves.

"That, or perhaps monsters that also have the same strengths as the wolves, such as the capacity to hunt their prey in this darkness, will only appear in the future since they are too powerful," Bruce said while he was jogging toward North. "That would explain a lot, but it is also worrisome… and exciting!"

It was worrisome because Bruce couldn't imagine certain types of people surviving a battle against such fearsome monsters. For example, unless they have some firearms, a kid or the elderly wouldn't survive for long with the world in such a state. However, Bruce also felt excited because he would have the chance to fight against more powerful monsters. Those conflicting feelings were nagging at him since his parents weren't exactly that young anymore, and knowing that kids were dying left were right was something disturbing.

"Fortunately, fighting all the time will be exciting for me, and I will indirectly help others," Bruce said. "So, everyone wins in exchange, minus the monsters, but who cares about freaking bastards who eat humans, anyway."

At that point in time, only a battle against two wolves would pose a problem for Bruce. However, they never did it. So, after slaying four more of them, Bruce finally could see the northern part of the city. The scent of smoke filled his nostrils, and even though he could see some power poles still working, it looked like things there way worse than in the southern part of the city.

Even before Bruce could arrive there, he found some monsters attacking humans. Those who could, tried to run and hid in the darkness ahead, but those who couldn't get killed. Bruce wasn't a soldier, nor did he want to be a hero, but he couldn't just watch the monsters do whatever they wanted with his fellow humans.

The goblins who tried to chase the humans to the dark part of the city got surprised when a shadow moved toward them and split them into halves in mere seconds. Blood poured over Bruce and the survivors. While Bruce ignored that, the survivors only screamed even louder since they didn't know what had happened.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" Bruce roared.

When Bruce left the dark areas, he shouted with all his might to draw the attention of the goblins. It would be too much of a pain to catch them one by one. Some goblins looked at him in shock, while others who were already attacking their prey ignored him. The goblins weren't smart enough to realize that the man covered in blood and carrying a long sword also drenched in blood was a threat, so they rushed toward him. Ten goblins quickly surrounded Bruce, but before they could attack him, Bruce swung his sword horizontally with all his might while also activating Bash. The force behind his move had been so powerful that he spun around himself in a full circle while cutting the monsters in half. It was insane, but Bruce didn't feel any resistance while he cut them down.

After that, the monsters couldn't ignore him any longer. The remaining goblins quickly turned toward him, while the humans used that chance to run away from the monsters and the blood-covered human, who also looked like a monster. Bruce paid them no mind; he wasn't doing that for them; he was doing it for his own conscience.

The second group of goblins didn't approach him like the others. Slowly, they formed a circle around Bruce as if they were planning to attack his back as he exposed himself. Too bad that such a plan was obvious, and Bruce decided to use their caution against them. Pointing his hands toward them, Bruce fired two fireballs in a rapid sequence. The monsters were just ten meters away from him, and the projectiles hit the face of two before they could even understand what had happened.

As he had expected, five goblins that were located behind him charged to attack. However, Bruce swung his sword just like before, and with the power of Bash, the very moment they entered his range, the monsters got cut in half. From up close, the surviving goblins finally realized the difference in strength, and they decided to flee. Bruce clicked his tongue, watching that. Goblins were slightly faster than him, so it was a waste of time to chase them.

"Phew…" Bruce sighed and then relaxed a little bit. "This part of the town didn't change in the last year… It has been a while."

Bruce's statement wasn't quite accurate; some buildings had fallen while others were on fire. So, many things changed. However, the feeling that such a place passed to him was the same as usual. Suddenly, Bruce heard a car crashing coming from North. The arrival of the monsters; that had been the first time since he had heard one, but instead of that, he was more worried about the direction the sound came from.

"I didn't notice this, but…" Bruce frowned. "To think that my old and my current home are connected by the same street."

Regardless, the sound of the impact and the distance from his old home seemed awfully close. So, Bruce decided to rush there, hoping he was just imagining things.
