The trap

The Thanatos' guns were firing at full power; the main gun, rail guns, Lightning Laser guns, electromagnetic missiles, proton torpedoes, and even the new plasma core cannons were firing relentlessly.

"Damage report, engines at maximum power, we have to get out of here."

The burst of more than a hundred lasers brushed past the defensive barrier of the Thanatos. Despite the three-layer barrier and the new plasma core cannons preventing the barrier from overheating, nothing could last forever or receive energy overloads indefinitely. It was best not to expose Thanatos to direct attacks.
