THE POWER OF EVANDER

Ocean couldn't swallow any bite, her body was very disconnected from everything, she only focused her attention on Evander and didn't lose sight of him.

"Every time you look at me like that it reminds me of the first time you saw me, I captivated you, right?" He laughed very mischievously.

She nodded with quick movements, Evander tried to calm her down by telling her that everything would be fine, Ocean didn't doubt his power, she was simply afraid of losing him. After that she was able to eat a little but Luna didn't take long to appear to give a statement.

"Commander Kylen, outside is a group of children asking for help, they just knocked on the door."

"Really?" He got up from the table, "have you already opened?

"No, I wanted to consult with you first, I don't know how they got there but they sound injured."

"Doctors, take care of those children!" He gave the order.

The paramedics immediately came out but when they looked out they were surprised and astonished, instantly Commander Kylen arrived to contemplate the situation, kept his eyes wide open and his sense of alertness awakened.

Outside there was no group of children, which made Kylen doubt Luna, however, more than thinking badly, it made him suspicious of those who were on the other side of the door.

There lived a huge group of walkers who were prostrate in front of the bunker looking at them without blinking. Those creatures didn't usually have eyes but the ones that resided outside did, which was strange enough.

"I offer you a deal," said a walker.

All the soldiers came out upon hearing that.

"Hand over Evander and in exchange neither your people nor any of the others will die."

Of course he wouldn't accept that deal, it wasn't fair but he wasn't going to risk everyone either, with the location of his bunker exposed they had to expect the worst.

"Decide quickly."

The ticking of the clock was audible to everyone present, Ocean who was in the back could hear them and took Evander by the hand to lead him to another exit without being seen to leave.

"Then, die!" Exclaimed the walker.

The rest of the creatures ran at high speed towards them with the intention of invading the bunker and destroying it completely, including its residents. The soldiers blocked the way but were so strong that they were knocked down, the survivors screaming in terror, complaining that they couldn't be safe anywhere.

Kylen wondered how they found his location and deep down he ached that there might be a traitor among them.

Ocean and Evander were running in another direction to hide but halfway there someone stepped on them causing them to stumble and then fall to the ground. Ocean was about to get up when something hit her head hard causing her to faint.

Evander was enraged when he realized that they attacked her from behind, whoever did it wouldn't get out alive, the corridor was so dark that he couldn't distinguish clearly but he was determined to defend himself and his girl. He faced a closed fist against that person but in one of those, the mysterious shadow managed to hit him on the head. Everything clouded over in front of him.

He was in charge of lifting his body and taking it out onto the ground outside the bunker. He dumped his body on the ground, spattering a bit of dust, pointed at it, and soon the other walkers filed out of the facility to approach Evander.

On the grounds, Barret, Ronda, Kylen, and other soldiers were fighting violent enemies when they saw Evander's body fall. They got careless and immediately turned them around. At that moment Luna, Zev and Milo came out armed so they started a shootout towards the monsters.

"Where's Ocean?" Ronda asked.

"I thought she was with Evander," Luna replied.

"Someone wake Evander up!" Barrett exclaimed.

The walkers ran towards the boy but Barret got ahead and using his earth manipulation power lifted him up creating a wall so they couldn't reach him.

Ocean woke up suddenly, her hands and feet were tied with very heavy chains, she was also wearing a muzzle. When she realized her situation, she got so upset that she began to bellow, she felt her body ignite with anger. Blood was dripping from her forehead, making her wonder who had had enough to attack and injure her, yet that wouldn't be enough to stop her.

Meanwhile, outside, Evander widened his eyes, standing on the dirt wall looking down at everyone, biding his time to show what he was made of.

At that moment, the scientist Raiden appeared behind the walkers accompanied by Maeko, the girl with the killer song.

"You should get a haircut from time to time," he spoke to Ronda in a mocking tone.

The girl began to comb her hair using her fingers until they stuck, the texture of a tracking chip. She broke it by crushing it as Zev, Luna and Milo came to cover her with their weapons.

Right there, Maeko's voice came out of her throat to sing her song but before she could, Evander did something to stop her. He came down from the earthen wall and turned into a tornado, his body rotating with the same intensity as a natural disaster of that magnitude, making it so that sound waves could not pass towards them.

The girl sang harder because she wanted her voice to be heard no matter what. Barret and Ronda ordered the others to cover their ears in case Maeko broke the sound barrier.

Taking advantage of the fact that Evander stopped her, some of the walkers got so close that they slowly died at his hands. The little girl wasn't going to give up that easily so Barrett made the bigger wall behind Evander for double protection. Little by little her diaphragm weakened so her song stopped, she forced things so much that she fell exhausted to the ground scraping her knees.

The tornado that Evander caused devastated everything in its path, the movement was so fast that no one was able to escape from it and the community was left without attacking soldiers. His handling of the wind became more powerful, the others had to move away if they didn't want to be absorbed. When he picked up most of the walkers, they resisted and tried to get out, he needed to kill them once and for all.

At that moment, Ocean appeared. The chains on her hands and feet were completely charred, her clothes full of ash and her muzzle melted, both arms covered in burning flames of fire and a look to kill.

"Ocean!" Ronda was surprised to see her in that state.

She ignored the voice of her companions and jumped over the earthen wall, as she had to get to where Evander was to help him. When he saw her a flash appeared in his eyes, on one side his tornado and on the other the flames entering the air to create a deadly combination. The walkers screamed in horror as they felt their bodies burn as the strong wind cut their hard skin like blades.

Zev and the others had their mouths open with shock, it was a lot of power that they didn't expect, the reinforcements gave their all during that fight.

When the disaster stopped, Raiden, before burning to death, sent a signal upwards and soon, some flying walkers arrived in the sky, they had long limbs similar to those of a squid, with them they picked up everyone who was in their path.

Barret started creating huge rocks, Ocean covered them with fire while Evander launched them towards them like a catapult, thus they managed to get rid of a few.

"Zev, Luna, Milo, take all the wounded soldiers to the bunker! We take care of this," Barret said.

The chaos was devastating, a scene of blood painted a cloudy landscape with a brighter sun than other days.

Evander created air bubbles that prevented the passage of the limbs towards the others but the flying walkers broke some. Ronda's hair was holding some octopuses while Ocean climbed up to them to incinerate them, they seemed to have the upper hand until the worst happened.

"Evander," someone called his name, "Evander."

The boy never let his guard down but that annoying voice made him a little uneasy.

"Evander…"

At that moment in front of his eyes he saw that a limb went through Ocean, which was impossible since her skin was very resistant but in a matter of seconds that image disappeared and he saw her incinerating octopuses, something was not right.

And it happened. A flying walker captured Evander by force, so much so that he couldn't move. Ronda quickly spread her hair holding the limb, it was a tug of war where the one with the most strength would win.

Zev noticed the desperation in Ocean's eyes, he felt guilt and joy at the same time, fate wanted to separate them even if she clung to not letting him go, lost in his thoughts and without noticing it, another flying walker caught Barret and Milo.

Ocean climbed through Ronda's hair until she got closer to Evander, the tension was so great that she felt that her powers were not fueling, it seemed impossible to incinerate with her hands.

"Ocean, tell them not to breathe, I have an idea," he communicated telepathically with her.

She began to blink rapidly and yelled at everyone present to hold their noses tightly, if possible they will take a breath and hold their breath.

At that moment, the air changed color, it was green with some grayish touches, a poison emanated from Evander's body, which caused some of the walkers to die quickly while others were prepared for it and covered their faces with gas masks. The boy was surprised because he didn't expect them to be ready, he soon lacked air so he had no choice but to give in.

The three walkers who survived the poison took flight towards the Community carrying three hostages, Evander, Barret and Milo. Zev finally reacted to seeing how his younger brother was kidnapped by those monsters.

Ocean let out a gasp as her pale face fell in a pall of tears.

"¡Nooooo!" She exclaimed, trying to propel herself with the help of her fire.

Ronda stopped her with her hair but she refused, she drew fire from her hands and created a path with her element throughout the ground, burning a large perimeter of the area, as well as getting rid of the poison.

In the distance she saw Maeko trying to run away.

"Let me go, Ronda!"

The flames burned some strands so she had no choice but to let go. Ocean ran towards Maeko and fell on top of her, subjecting her to the ground, lifted her up and hugged her using her whole body.

"Give me one good reason not to kill you," she squeezed.

"If you bring my pet back when you go to rescue Evander, I'll tell you Jolene's plans," she spoke with difficulty due to the wear and tear on her throat.

Ocean growled, placing her fingers on the girl's throat, little flames slowly starting to sprout from her fingertips. The black-haired girl had every intention of burning her vocal cords if she didn't give her a good reason.

"Jolene wants to summon mother ether!" Maeko yelled, her voice scratchy.
