Standing in front of the chaos, he couldn't process what his eyes were seeing, she was there, in the middle of all the mess but she seemed different, as if she were another person, it couldn't be her, not since he saw her start a fire using only her hands.
"How do you know my name?" she asked, annoyed, looking at him over her shoulder.
A cadet held Zev tightly to get him into the helicopter and leave the place, he without resistance allowed them to take him away while he did not take his eyes off her. From the skies they only saw smoke and fire, Milo approached his brother to keep him company, he didn't want to say anything until he reacted.
"Is he always like this?" Asked a soldier about Zev's behavior.
"No, he's been acting weird for days, he gets lost in his thoughts a lot" Milo replied.
"Surely he is generating traumas due to everything that has happened, in the bunker there are doctors and psychologists who could examine him."
Zev, omitting the comments they made about him, got up from his seat to change to another one that had access to the window, from there he looked at the girl, soon someone else was with her, they would surely get out of there safe and sound.
Upon reaching the bunker they installed the survivors they had been able to save, Zev seemed to be coming to his senses, he showered in the showers and waited in the common room for the military to give news.
"That shower was the best of my life, I didn't even want to get out of the shower," Milo commented, sitting next to his brother.
"Hey Milo, if I get lost again please hit me with all your might in the face," he looked at him.
"Umm, okay," he lowered his voice.
Milo was trying to act mature, he was just as traumatized as his brother, confused, he needed answers to what happened, plus he felt guilty for almost suffocating Zev.
"Did you see her?"
"Who?" He looked at him carefully.
"Someone saved you. It was her, it was Ocean," he said with conviction as he clenched his fist.
"Ocean?" He thought, "not her, she wasn't Ocean, maybe you're confusing her," he laughed nervously.
Zev sighed, maybe his brother was right, this whole situation took him out of his mind, he imagined things and he wasn't even aware if everything was real or not. He had to find a way to relax so he could live more peacefully.
"Listen please" Commander Kylen appeared.
The survivors were silent, they paid attention to what the man had to say.
"As you know, The Community of Dawn incident occurred three months ago," he paused to think if he should reveal the whole truth or only a part, "due to a failure within the place, the creatures they had locked up went mad and attacked all the workers , they crossed the fence and reached many cities causing chaos throughout the country, we set out to save as many as we could, the leaders of the nation are reaching an agreement on what should be done, so I ask you to be patient because we don't know how long this attack will last."
People began to murmur.
"We have discovered ways to combat the walkers but it is still not enough and we must act with caution or the leaders can cancel all our operations, for now, if you believe that your relatives are still alive, we will ask you for directions to where they could be to go out to look for them."
"Hey, who are you?" A man raised his hand, "it's just that you're being too nice, knowing the crap system we have, it's impossible to believe that you are so good."
"We are a special unit called La Resistencia, our mission is to help others, feeding hope, we believe that humans deserve more than a second chance," he smiled lightly.
People felt calmer, some didn't trust it completely but a few did. While each one went to their respective room, the brothers saw the girl go by, Milo was able to see her more carefully, it was true that she had an enormous resemblance to Ocean, so he suggested to his brother that he try to approach her to confirm.
Milo went to sleep because he was really exhausted, Zev on the other hand couldn't fall asleep, in his head there was only one thought, the girl. He saw her walking alone towards the military rooms so he cautiously went out for a tour of the bunker facilities, avoiding acting suspicious at all costs because he didn't want problems with the cadets. Luckily for him, the military was having a meeting in another of the rooms so the corridors were free.
For her part, the girl just wanted to take a breath but she could feel the presence of someone harassing her.
"What do you want?" She asked, "I know you're there."
Zev entered her room to face her once more.
"What are you doing here, Ocean?"
"Excuse me, who are you?" she asked as she tied her long dark hair into a ponytail, turning her back to him.
He examined her with his gaze, she looked a little taller, the same tender but inexpressive face, big eyes and reddish lips, a sharp nose, with a body defined by exercise, there was just something different, her attitude was very aggressive.
"I'm Zev, don't pretend you don't know me, I don't even know why I'm talking to you, I shouldn't be here looking for you."
"I'm not interested in what you say, and no, I don't know you, I've never seen you in my life," she approached him with an intimidating look, "get away from me."
"Yes we know each other! You and I…"
"Why are you bothering her? She already told you that she doesn't know you," interrupted someone behind him holding his shoulder, his voice was masculine, serious and authoritative.
Zev turned quickly, behind him was a guy a few inches taller than him, muscular, white skin, light hair and dark eyes, with a serious expression on his face.
"Who are you?" He tried to push the boy but couldn't move him a bit.
"Her boyfriend" he answered without taking his eyes off him.
Zev swallowed, that imposing boy was Ocean's boyfriend, for the first time in a long time he felt something inside him that did not denote anything good, he felt a strange emptiness and without saying another word he left the room.
