LA RESISTENCIA'S BEST KEPT SECRET

Luna, Zev and Milo were shocked, for the first time they were considered for one of those meetings so they were the first to go to the laboratory, it was their most anticipated moment. While they waited, they heard some familiar voices outside, in the nursing area, it was Ocean and Evander, who had taken the woman to put her on oxygen so she could clean her lungs of the smoke.

While the woman slept on a stretcher, there were only about five minutes left for the meeting.

"That smoke was poisonous," said Evander, "as the woman said, I think the Community wants to replicate the power of virogenesis."

That's when the soldiers were arriving, so they had to stop their talk. They entered the laboratory and the three boys were already there, Ocean and Evander looked at them with expressionless faces and stood behind everyone. While they were there, the commander began to speak.

"There are many issues that we must discuss but first, he is Barret, reinforcement 089 and his powers are related to the earth element," he cleared his throat, standing upright, "he has worked with us as a spy in the community," he gave him the floor.

"I am a being, not a creature, much less an experiment," he emphasized this as he stared at Milo for his comment, "Ocean, Evander, Ronda and other siblings were raised in the Community, they tortured us in unimaginable ways, so that we decided to escape from there and found La Resistencia, this strong humanitarian group, with our powers we can help people to prevent them from falling into the traps of the Community of the Dawn."

"Why is the community doing this?" Luna asked, very interested.

"They want us to return with them, that's why they released the walkers, those annoying shadows that only seek destruction, they are all controlled by the girl from the murderous song, she is like us but uses her powers to cause harm…"

"And what's in the Community?" Zev asked. For a moment everything was silent, Barret glanced quickly at his brothers, then back at Zev.

"It is a research center, with huge containment zones that are divided by danger. There they experiment with different creatures, aliens or beings from other dimensions, they do many tests regarding dreams."

"And what about Evander, why do they want him?" Luna asked.

"Because he's our leader, if he leaves, the rest of us will follow him," Ocean interrupted before Barret could speak as he took Evander's hand tightly.

The rest of the soldiers were surprised by that answer, they were curious about the union that existed between them and they wondered how many more brothers there were in the world, it could be thousands.

"Our plan is to save all humanity, figuratively," Kylen mentioned, "once all the remaining people are here, we will attack the Community together with all the reinforcements and in the end we will blow up the place with the hope that we can all return to the life we had before."

"I wonder, when did everything fail? I mean, why did everything that happened happen?" Zev said to himself but everyone was listening.

Kylen gave a genuine smile and crossed his arms, still smiling as he answered the boy.

"The loops."

Zev looked at him, keeping his eyes wide.

"What do you mean by that, sir?"

"Time loops are repetitive situations, it's as if you lived this day forever, everything happens exactly the same and has the same ending even if you try to change it," he paused, "Or that's the belief…"

"For the Community, their loop worked fine, the same story was lived every day, a human world in total control by them," said Evander, "until someone deactivated it…"

"How is that possible?" Zev asked even more intrigued.

"There is another theory investigated by the Community."

While Evander spoke, Zev began to feel a twinge in his ears, accompanied by a very loud beeping and slight dizziness. He was surprised because it had been days without this happening to him. He saw little lights around him and soon fell to the ground in a faint.

They took him to a stretcher for the doctors to take care of him, the night was getting long and several soldiers were sleepy, so they decided to end the meeting, perhaps Zev's fainting was caused by exhaustion.

During Zev's disconnection from his reality he saw a black background, in which some silhouettes could be seen, Ocean's running towards nowhere but soon Evander appeared near her, Zev's body tried to move towards both but he felt his legs heavy, he couldn't reach them but without realizing it he managed to move a few centimeters from them.

"You're doing a good job," he heard a subtle voice in the dark, "nobody likes to be the bad third, that's why from time to time you have to divide…"

Hearing those words, Zev grabbed Ocean's silhouette by the arm and using all his strength dragged her towards him leaving Evander alone.

"Come with me Ocean, come with me," he whispered sleepily.

Ocean was the only one there watching him, she laughed when she heard those words coming out of her mouth.

"How pathetic, hmph!" She looked at him carefully. "Why would I go with you?"

There he was, asleep, breathing slowly and calmly, his thin body resting in front of her eyes, his dark circles were more pronounced than normal, his hair was badly combed and she inexplicably felt sorry for the boy.

"I don't know why I hate you so much, Zev, it's a stuck up courage that I can't get out, not until I know what it is."

She got up from her chair to go to her room but before she crossed the door she heard one last murmur from Zev.

"I'm sorry Ocean, I hope one day you can forgive me."

She rolled her eyes and went to rest. Upon reaching her room, Evander and Barret were having a conversation, with heavy eyes she brought her hands to her face to rub, Commander Kylen had given the order to stand guard due to what happened with the poisonous smoke and she just wanted to sleep .

"Hey, go to sleep, Kylen won't find out that you didn't do guard duty, I'll do it for you," Evander said to her with a low tone of voice as he gently caressed her forehead.

Ocean took his hand and hugged her cheek, saying nothing, closing her eyes as soon as she could, Evander settled her on the bed and turned back to Barret.

"You've been together for a long time," said the dark-haired man.

"That's how it will always be," he smiled.

They both let out a sigh, that night seemed eternal and they felt their eyes stick together, in a matter of seconds they fell asleep.
