Endless Dungeons

In the hour when the boundaries of worlds have been erased. A distant, small planet, in an abandoned region, caught the eye of one creature. At that moment, the fate of all living, sentient beings on that planet was sealed. Because someone had already rolled the dice for them.

The Choice.

Chapter 4 — The Choice.

Sitting in the corner of the room in a lotus pose, Cain slowly opened his eyes.

— It was almost time.

A soft wave of faint light swept across the room.

Waves like this would come every half hour. They also serve as the hours of the underworld.

— Welcome to hell, newcomers. — A hoarse and terrifying voice snapped Cain from his memories.

— Here. In an endless dungeon. The weak become the food of the strong. And anyone who shows weakness will be devoured or enslaved. — The insidious, husky voice sounded as if it were a monologue.

But the meaning was clear to all. The voice echoed in everyone's head, everyone without exception, except… those who had already committed suicide.

After three days of fasting. It had long since become clear to everyone that this was not just a bad joke or a bad dream. They realized only one thing. No one was going to save them. Because there was no one to save them.

Everyone who heard this was desperate. They already guessed that no one was going to let them go.

— The endless dungeons have always had infinite possibilities and… infinite dangers, and now… — Cain began in a sad tone.

— The choice is yours — the ominous voice continued.

Everything seemed to fall silent in the infinitely empty room as a choice icon appeared before everyone, with two choices.

[Choose who you want to become].

[Lone Warrior/Lord of the People]

Cain didn't even hesitate to decide the second one.

Almost all the Wanderers I've seen didn't have a good ending and ended up becoming slaves.

And if one was lucky, one might become an elite mercenary slave. Cain had a few of them.

In any case, his choice would fall on the second, since he had advantages from his return to the past. He had many plans for such a rare event.

Going back to where he started, ten years later. He would clearly no longer be sitting back, hiding like a tunnel rat. In any case, there won't be a place like that anymore.

— A ten-year sentence… Too cruel… — Cain frowned, thinking hard about something.

Unfortunately, Cain couldn't remember how he came back to the past, maybe it was the side effects of coming back that were affecting him. But he didn't pay much attention to it.

All he could remember was that he and several mage lords had come face to face with one of the demon lords just before he died.

The offspring of a diablo! — The anger from what had happened could not be contained in his heart.

Cain still remembered all those bastards who had pushed them together. The traitors who had taken the form of monsters. Every last one of them. But that wasn't what was important now.

What was significant was what was about to begin.

The huge stone door began to slide aside. Opening the vast darkness before it. Even the light from the torch could not dispel the darkness.

Without much thought, Cain found a dusty piece of dried bread. Tucking it into his pocket, he took the torch and the wine skin. Standing before the dark passage, he resolutely stepped forward.

The strange message still floated slowly on his display.

Now I'm convinced of that for sure. I need a little week break. My draft is just a complete mess! But I think I'll get over it quickly).
